| Hot and Muggy Outside
Companion thread to "Cold and Windy Outside," thread.
Anyway, with the fallout from the wildfires, this summer has turned out to be bit of a bummer. The smell is getting to me. A little taste of what it's like in China, Gulolol.
Okay, not nearly as bad. Okay, not even close, but I wAnder how the FOBs are feeling right now.
1. Damn, I thought we escaped all that shit........
2. Oh, how I miss it.......... it's like being home.

The Sharp air con I've had for over 10 years is still doing its thing. So quiet, and it manages to get the bedroom to freezing levels. Best aircon, hands down.

We've only had smoke for the past couple days in Vancouver so can't say the summer has been a bummer, in fact it's been super nice out and I can't remember the last day it rained. That been said, the gov't needs to have a better plan in place to combat forest fires moving forward. It looks like it might be the norm to have a fire or two every summer moving forward.

It's a bummer 'cause it only started but will go on for a bit longer............. rain would solve the problem, but looking at the long range forecast, it isn't happening.

Outside of this week, temperatures have been low-to-mid-20s, sun almost every day. It's been pretty much perfect since late-June for southwestern BC.

I thought with the smoke in the air it was actually cooler. The smoke is blocking some of the uv isn't it ? Yesterday it was suppose to hit 30+ and I didn't see it go past 27

It's been amazing this summer....you remember last summer? that sucked. remember winter??? i sure as shit do
stop pissing and moaning about finally getting some sun and heat
only downside is the fires the interior has had to deal with and now the last few days of smoke we're dealing with
nothings ever good enough for the fine folks of vancouver

I was in the Shuswaps for a week and was worried about the smoke since it's close to where a lot of the fires are. It was great out there, clear skies everyday then I come back home and everything is in a grey fog.
Off Topic if anyone is looking for a cabin recommendation out that way for next year the little cabin we rented was awesome!! 2 beds, nice kitchen, dishwasher, washer/dryer, wifi, private hot tub & dock ect....

I just came back from Williams Lake (was deployed there to assist with the wildfires with the military) and the smoke/haziness is way worse here in Vancouver. There are times when it gets bad, but it doesn't last for the entire day up there.

I don't see the issue with this weather at all, ya the smoke sucks but it doesn't bother me at all.
I come home from work and hang out in my back yard and stay cool for the rest of the night. Then again this is how I hang in my back yard, nice and peaceful with no one around to bother me other then the g/f |

The province is almost entirely forest, and the forest burning is part of the natural cycle. Apparently you haven't noticed but there have always been many, many fires every summer.

Smokey as balls in whistler right now. I'm trying to get my "bike stoke" going but it's just not working when it's this hard to breath. Sucks to be stuck inside in august |

Only way to combat these forest fires is strategic controlled burns.. but I'm no expert

I still prefer the muggy weather this summer compared to the heavy snow that we had this past winter any day.
Heavy snow, an onslaught of shitty drivers, and salt hoarders on the news this winter are much worse than the weather that we are having now.
-just need some heavy rain this month to help the firefighters in the BC interior and to give us cleaner air.

. | you're the one that made a statement about our summer being (sorry let me correct myself) a "bit of a bummer" and i responded...don't think it was over-reacting at all. my statement stands that nothing is ever good enough, had we not had the smoke and still had clear air, someone would have found something to complain about this summer....too hot, no rain so their grass died, boo hoo something.
moving on...

So anyone have any good ideas on where to escape the smoke this weekend? Within half a day's driving distance? I was planning on going up to Fraser Canyon and thru to Whistler this long weekend but that's now a wash cause of the smoke.
How's the island?

you were obviously triggered enough to start a new thread
i don't mind it at all. Best summer we've had for years in the city. No heatwave, no rain and no water restriction. Only a bummer if you're hiking out to viewpoints. It makes for cool urban street photos.

^My parents live in Parksville and were saying it was smokey there, but at least they have the breeze off the ocean.
Growing up in Kamloops, this smoke reminds me of home.

How's the island? | Up the Sunshine Coast/Powell river looks pretty good from what I've seen from friends who live up around there

How's the island? | It's been hazy from the smoke all week in Duncan. I would imagine the west coast is probably fine (Tofino, Ucluelet).
