I have an unlocked Essential Phone in hand, used it for a day, wife wants new iphone instead.
Bought directly from Essential, you can be one of the first few to have it in Canada, since Telus is only still taking pre orders and for phones with contracts only. You can't buy them unlocked yet.
Telus will eventually sell unlocked versions at ~$1200 with taxes in.
