Long story short car had week permit w/ NO plates on and was ticketed along w/ the red sticky placed on driver window. It was like a day after expiration m, Bad timing. Is getting a ticket w/ plates on and insured the same thing as getting ticketed with no plates on and expired temp insurance? It's a $150 fine. I'm wondering if i have any chances of not having to pay It. Doesn't seem completely fair. Cause I'm getting rid of the vehicle quickly also. I'm just asking, I don't need to hear "just pay the ticket" or something. Thanks.

Not sure, let's think this through. Scenario 1 - you had insurance, it ran out, you didn't have any insurance, you got a ticket. Scenario 2 - you had insurance, it ran out, you didn't have any insurance, you got a ticket. Seems pretty similar to me...

They did give you a break. The ticket for having your car on the road system uninsured is actually ranges from no less than $2500 to $5000 and can even extend to jail time.

So I don't know what they ticketed you for, but just be thankful it's only $150 and pay it.

(2) Every peace officer, officer or constable of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or the police department of a municipality or inspector authorized under section 217 (1) (a) to inspect motor vehicles may seize a number plate that he or she finds detached from a motor vehicle or trailer, or he or she finds displayed on a motor vehicle or trailer other than the one for which it was issued, or that is required under this Act or by a direction of the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia to be surrendered, and may hold it until the receipt of instructions from the corporation as to its disposal.
(3) Subsection (2) applies in respect of number plates and motor vehicles whether on a highway or elsewhere, and for the purposes of that subsection an officer or constable of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or the police department of a municipality may enter without warrant the land or premises of any person on or in which there is a motor vehicle or trailer.
(4) Subsection (2) does not apply to dealers' number plates used as permitted by this Act or to number plates detached under the regulations.

So let's say you have a car in storage, no plates, do you have to keep it in your garage or on your own driveway? Not on the road?

Some cities only only allow a certain number of uninsured vehicles on the property (assuming detached house). It should be covered under house insurance if it doesn't have storage insurance through ICBC.
