Scary news from Edmonton. RCMP are investigating this incident as a terrorist attack.
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/edmonton-attack-terrorism-truck-isis/article36449925/
-from the article:
Four pedestrians and the constable were injured when the U-Haul truck struck them as it sped down Jasper Avenue, Edmonton police chief Rod Knetch told reporters.
The suspect is in custody and appears to have acted alone, the police chief said.
Knetch said an Islamic State flag that was inside the suspect’s vehicle had been seized and was part of the investigation, which now involves the local RCMP-led Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, a counter-terrorism unit.
The incident started around 8:15 p.m. near Commonwealth Stadium, where a police officer was handling traffic-control duties outside the Edmonton Eskimos-Blue Bombers game. The game was military appreciation night.
Knetch said a Chevrolet Malibu slammed into the officer’s vehicle.
The driver got out of the Malibu holding a knife and stabbed the officer, Knetch said.

Just image if they did this in a crowded like Metrotown or even skytrain stations (Burrard, Bridgeport, Commerical/boardway). Since our security is so laid back they could have easily injury a lot of people.

Suspect in custody. If this individual was in a different country, would have been killed by now.

Security isn't laid back at all, but your rights to defend yourself are at an all time low - brought to you by those constantly wanting more government to take care of them. Well, now they have it, so you can just be a good Canadian victim and have someone else 'call for help' when you need it.

the article i read was so incredibly over dramatized lol
"Knecht said the car rammed through a barricade, throwing an officer about five metres into the air, then crashed into a police cruiser.
The driver hopped out and began "viciously" stabbing the officer with a knife before running away, Knecht said.
A manhunt was launched as the officer was taken to hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Knecht said the Islamic State flag was found in the front seat of the car."
thats alot of drama for non life threatening injuries lol

Thirty-year-old Abdulahi Sharif of Edmonton is the man being held in connection with Saturday night’s vehicle attacks in Alberta’s capital, multiple sources told Global News.
Sources said Sharif is expected to be charged with five counts of attempted murder as well as terrorism-related charges after an Edmonton police officer was hit by a car and stabbed outside Commonwealth Stadium and several people were hit by a U-Haul van in downtown Edmonton.

I'm merely saying it as a general comment. Another country could perceive him as a threat and take him out. At no point did I say I was scared to be here or directly singling him out as a bad guy (he could have mental issues for all I can say).

Thats true if your a broke ass loser with no property to your name.
Good luck in court once the judge finds out you have a house and a family and the poor misguided 'attacker' has nothing but a pot to piss in.

Yea in Canada if you try to defend yourself and injury the attacker in the process they can sue your ass off. So fair right?! :ahwow:
Wasn't this on the news a few years back in Toronto when some guy try to rob this Chinese store in China town and the owner stop the robbery and tie and lock him up till police arrive but then he was charge for something like not letting someone leave or preventing someone from leaving. It wasn't unit protest that the charges were drop.
So yea in Canada if you defend yourself or your goods and the injury the robbery you will be sue till you are the one living on the streets.

Terrible situation for all, and leaves me wondering what can be done to help newcomers better integrate.

No terror charges either. Even after being investigated in 2015 under suspicion. And sporting an isis flag in the vehicle while perpetrating this attack. Neat stuff.
Ordered deported back to Somalia from the US in 2011 and instead came here.
Cop even attempted to pursue the suspect after being thrown like a rag doll over the car and stabbed in the face a dozen or so times. Left hospital like the next day too. Pretty tough cop
