You are going to find that Canadian and American highways suck. That most of our drivers suck. That things are terribly inefficient and slow. That the rain doesn't stop. That 2mm of snow cripples the city. That everyone else seem to be ballers living it large, with a boutique puppy on their lap while sipping $7 lattes everyday.

But hey, if you can get yourself to the ski slopes, get yourself out to some meets and driving events (VCMC / UBCSCC / TSS / SF / the list goes on), when spring and summer comes, you're probably still going to fall in love with this city despite all of its flaws.

Final pro tip -- enjoy the cuilinary scene as much as you can here. Asian food -- think Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese, Chinese, Thai / Malaysian -- are especially good here. Just don't fall into the bearded, thick-rimmed glasses, skinny jeans, v-neck T-shirts look and you'll do alright.

Prepare yourself. RS is a great place, but it's kind of like that weird uncle that's nice to you from time to time, but also does some weird ass shit.

Don't take anything anyone says too seriously here. Some of the members are professional trolls and others are professional professionals (if that makes sense) that think they know more than everyone else.

Revscene is also like that buddy that you have that you would never want to date your sister.

If you're okay with that, you might learn to love it here, otherwise, you'll probably leave battered and bruised.

Woo, Germany! That reminds me that I need to go back and visit family there at some point lol

As others have mentioned, you'll find it a little different here compared to Germany. Our drivers suck by comparison, our roads are generally poorly upkept (at least compared to much of Germany... if you decide to drive east of Alberta, then you're basically on broken concrete non-stop), and you may find that some people in Vancouver and Richmond come across as snobby and unfriendly.

Generally speaking though, we're a much prettier place than Germany. If you like to ski or snowboard, hit up one of the local mountains (Cyprus, Grouse, Seymour) or if you're feeling rich and want to run one of the best mountains then go north to Whistler Blackcomb. Come spring time there's plenty of outdoor events downtown or up in the mountains, whether it's day hiking trips or concerts in Stanley Park. Plus we're not landlocked here, so having the ocean right at your doorstep is great if you like the beach.

As for cars, it's sort of our downtime for meets but come spring time we usually have meets fairly often. We also host one of the largest car meets in BC, if not Canada, once in spring and again in summer. Definitely something you should check out.

That really hurt my feelings :( I'm not a baby :(. (well for my mum i am 3 older sisters and obv. the baby of the family.)

So therefore i had so many post to go trough I'm not replying to everyone i just write a long ass text now :P.

So where to begin ? What car i wanna get? To be honest i dont know yet i just got a job today and going to start working tomorrow, but i love JDM cars (Always wanted a Skyline since the first FnF (please no hate!!)), i drove a variety of cars like tons of bmw's mercs and vw/Porsche/Audi and i just believe that i've seen so many german cars that i dont wanna drive one of these anymore (accept for bmw e82/e30/e36 :P).

I actually play soccer in a club but just started 3 weeks ago so i think i still have to give it a little bit of time.

And no i dont think porsche makes the best german cars i prefer bmw(RWD <3and cheap) over any german car brand(But thats my opinion and i think everyone has their own).

I used to go drifting with a mate who had an 350z v8 Twin turbo and absolutely fell in love with it, but because i didnt earn a lot of bucks i always had shitty cheap cars so i couldnt drift(or didnt want to).

And dont worry guys you have to write way more to scare me :) as i said 3 older sisters.

Well to be honest i absolutely fell in love with the city and walked around a lot and went around stanley park with a bike already. But still way more to explore :).

Please dont hate me for not answering all day i had some job interviews and finally got a job after beeing here for 6 weeks.

No, the 8 series is in germany nearly nowhere to find and if you find one its a 840. In 22 years living in germany i only saw 4 of them 2 on the autobahn and 2 in a barn rotting to death.

In general mostly wealthy people/ or petrolheads drive cars with > 2.5 L engine. Most of the cars are either 1.6 l golf or 316 bmw.

Oh and if you ever wanna learn german text me i love teaching people our retarded language. Because you will probably give up after an hour :P

And if you ever going to visit germany and you visit the autobahn there is one thing and you can trust me its true. Every time you think youre fast there is someone faster than you. I went 283 once and someone came flying from the back and flashed his lights.

Hi there :), well i guess pretty popular, maybe not as popular as our brands like skoda, seat, vw, audi, bmw, mini and mercs but still pretty popular you see some civics some evo's some skylines from time to time but evo's and skylines are all rhd. (obviously) The only lhd drive jdm cars we have are 200sx's (s13 and s14 and they are ridiculous overpriced.).
And yes we have a car brand which is called seat its spanish and a daughter company of vw and their cars actually dont look that bad .

POF sucks. If you want some real asian looking girls, go download TanTan. 90% of the time, tinder is just cause everyone is bored. Might be different for you, because you're from Germany. White people are generally a rare breed here. Uh, Ok Cupid is actually pretty good.

But I mean you just have to read the Speak It Out thread to learn that I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Good Taiwanese/HK/Japanese food (Ramen) / Bubble Tea you'll find in Richmond. If you're looking for Korean food (Korean fried chicken), you'll find the good ones in Coquitlam, but Zabu Chicken on Robson isn't too terrible either.

Uh if you want some decent sandwiches, look for Hubbub Sandwiches, they should have two locations in downtown Vancouver (one across from the library on Robson, another near the court houses on Hornby.
