paint issues
just went to royal oak to give my dirty moosemobile a wash and found the following spots
What do you guys think? clearcoat failed? No roughs or bumps on the spots. The paint is really thin, I have a couple of big scratches and only had the car for 6 months.
2 spots on the metal hood, 1 above the grill which is plastic

my wildest guess is that it's acid damage from bird crap that has discolored the paint?
^thats what i thought too but no etching on the clearcoat. Also, it happened in november and we got a shitload of rain.

i was taking a wild guess unfortuantely. i knew someone who had staining and etching from bird droppings and he claybar'd and cut polished the crap out of his paint until it was smooth again, but the discoloration remained. it was really noticable on his because it was metallic paint.

looks to be above clear coat. Try getting it out with clay bar and if it doesnt work sand it out with high grit and then polish.

if u only had your car for 6 months, it should be covered under warranty from the dealer, get them to fix it

What car is this?

Slight update: the bodyshop thinks some chemical got through the clearcoat and into the paint. The dealer thinks its not a warranty issue as the car was delivered without the blemishes. Luckily, I bought the protection plan so its covered. They are going to repaint the hood and bumper at around 1600 but they are shopping around to get more opinions and a lower price as it eats into my protection plan claim pool.

I've come across this before but no explanation was ever given as to what it is. Could be a few things like bird droppings, acid rain, tree sap(probably not since you think it happened in November) but in my experience repainting is the only problem solver.
