1.5L turbo would be a huge disappointment since that's what the CRV has
At no point did the RDX and CRV share the same engine, so they better not start now
2.0T would be acceptable as base engine, with an option for the MDX sports hybrid SH-SH-AWD would be ideal

Yes and yes, as well as a special 10 speed transmission. That’s all I am aware of, and of course, anything can change between now and the launch. Will keep you posted.

GF's CX5 lease expires in August and looking to upgrade into the luxury side of things. So far the new CX5d (not really luxury but might as well look at it), XC40, X1, Lexus NX (without that stupid cow catcher front bumper) and now this Acura seem to be in the running.

So, I gotta ask... What's the sedan that flashes on screen at the 11 second mark? Is it a concept car that I've missed seeing at some point in the past?

Acura Precision concept, it's the new design language they said they would use after the beak.

There's no way it's not the 2.0L turbo - the RDX has always had significantly more motor than the CR-V. Expect it to be a premium gas tuned version of the Accord 2L so figure 260-270hp.
A hybrid should be expected but will it be a fuel economy special (say the Accord Hybrid's drivetrain) or will it be a performance special (say the e-SH-AWD in the rear)? My money is on the latter as I suspect a fuel economy special will come in the form of the CDX (or whatever Acura calls their next small SUV.

Holy shit, incredible looking crossover :ahwow:
The athleticism of Mazda's Kodo combined with Honda/Acura's new design language, very dynamic looking. Nicely integrated floating roof design that seems to be all the hype these days too.
Not sure how I feel about the centre console, seems kinda Santa Fe and not in a good way, and the NSX-esque switchgear looks like an afterthought. Steering wheel and centre screen are straight out of a BMW, this time in a good way though :ilied:
But seriously though, that is one striking front end.
Also Lexus flirted and failed with the whole trackpad RTI thing, so it'll be interesting to see how Acura goes about having a trackpad in this.

So some rough guesses to figure out performance:
- Loaded CR-V is 3500lbs and it lost a 100lbs from the last gen so figure a loaded RDX will be between 3700-3800lbs (previous gen loaded was 3900lbs).
- An Accord Touring 2.0L/auto with 252 hp at 3400lbs does 0-60 in 5.5s (Car and Driver)
- The 2016 RDX at 3900lbs and a J35 does 0-60 in 6.2s with a 6 speed auto
- The RDX likely gets a premium gas version of the K20C2 so figure 270hp (the premium gas K24 makes 17hp more than the regular one).
- An Audi Q5 at 4100lbs, 252hp and a 7 speed does 0-60 in 5.8s, a GLC300 at 4100lbs, 241hp and a 9 speed does 0-60 in 5.9s.
Add that up and I think the new RDX is going to be FAST for a base model. Figure low 5s. I'll do a few eggplants for that.
The Type S with the rumoured turbo V6 is going to be a beast!

Car and Driver has actual 0-60 for the Type R at 4.9s and the Type R is traction limited on launch (witness a Golf R that's 300lbs heavier and less powerful doing 0-60 in 4.5s.
The RDX's closest comp is the Accord 2.0T which has the same drivetrain but in FWD - it'll weigh 300lb more than the Accord, make about 20hp more, and not be traction limited. The Accord bangs it out in 5.5s. Depending on final power numbers and weight the RDX should be thereabouts with the Accord or better.
Edit: The other close comp is the Q5 which is probably 200-300lbs heavier, has less power, and only 7 gears and does 0-60 in under 6s. The RDX is going to be definitely faster than the Q5.

I am not sure how they got 4.9..... but they did say that. most of the other editors vary in the sub 5's.
It was also revealed that the new RDX will not share anything from the CRV platform.

Second Look: 2019 Acura RDX - NY Daily News (http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/news/2019-acura-rdx-preview-article-1.3900941)
There’s only one powertrain available on the 2019 Acura RDX, but it’s a doozy: the 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbo engine and 10-speed automatic. This same powertrain can be found under the hood of the 2018 Honda Accord. That replaces the current model’s V6 and improves performance: the 2019 Acura RDX delivers 272 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque.

I've been somewhat shopping for a new turbo CRV and have been reading up on the 1.5L turbos used in Civic's and CRV's and several owners are reporting issues with fuel dilution in the oil. Do the 2.0L turbos have this issue too?

Surprised that it's actual measurements are 187 inches long - that's quite a bit longer than its direct competition (X3, Q5, GLC) and more inline with the RX350, GLE and XT5. That size might end up being a deterrent for me as my wife doesn't like big cars and she thinks the X3 is big.
I also assume that means that Acura is going to get into the subcompact space to compete against a X1 and Q3. Something with the Civic Si's 1.5L Turbo (205hp) and about 175 inches long (a bit bigger than the HR-V).

Does not appear so. Looks like A-Spec is an add-on to the Tech package so you can't do what you do with the TLX which is Elite+A-Spec.
The Azine thread suggests that you also can't get the red leather seats in the A-Spec version either which sucks for me as I don't want black leather seats (I'm in the market).

The reviews are pretty positive across the board - some extremely positive. Looks very promising - I'm shopping this again a C300 wagon right now and there's a $5-10K diff in price that could tip things Acura's way.

This is going to be a hard choice.
The A-Spec is around $53k and so is the CX9 GT. Two different segments but having more room in the CX9 helps.

So we had a chance to test drive the new RDX. It definitely drives nice and has plenty of tq and passing power. The touch pad was easy to use and I got the hang of it quickly. Seats were very comfortable (moving to Moose Jaw this summer so will do tones of highway driving). The massive pano roof was cool too and gives lots of light in. Rear cargo room is slightly more than our current CX5. When I first drove up they had a white and red ASpec, my first impression was underwhelming. I expected more from a $60k car and it looks like it will blend in with the rest of traffic. This could be good or bad depending on personal preference.
Then we went to see a CX9 GT. There was a black and machine grey and both looked fantastic. During the drive I was very surprised how quick it is for a large SUV. Power and tq is plenty and acceleration from 80-xxx ;) is more than adequate. Interior fit and finish is on par with the RDX and obviously far more cargo room, also I think it looks better overall. We liked it more than the RDX.
Then comes the price. Acura’s rates are horrid right now and a loadedish Aspec was about $65k all in, despite the $52k sticker. The CX9 was $49k and with mazda loyalty we were looking at .25% lease for 36 months. We haven’t decided yet but looks like the CX9 is an overall better package, financially and the vehicle itself. The RDX is nice but I think it’s a bit of a disappointment considering all the hype. We waited 10min in an empty showroom for a salesperson to emerge from his office at Acura and were seen right away at Mazda. The sale people at Acura looked snobby and no one said hi or asked if we needed any help while waiting in the middle of the floor.

The previous gen RDX was a good bargain (43k-47k) for a mid-sized luxury SUV, but the new one is just too much.
Only the 53k Elite or 58k Platinum Elite has full leather the others are just leatherette and suede.

I got mine from lougheed Acura. I had mixed feelings about it. If you go in on a busy day without an appointment, you may end up waiting for a long time to have someone helping you. That's what happened my first time visiting. Second time I booked an appointment for a test drive and the salesperson has the car ready for me before I arrived. So if you want good service, I'd suggest booking an appointment.

If anyone's interested, I have one on demo right now so ask away with any hard pressing questions. And Aznboi128 just had one last week so his review should be coming out in a few weeks. We'll also be comparing it to the old gen RDX and against the QX50

I just bought a 2019 Lunar Silver RDX with Tech Package for my sister and got $1,770 off MSRP with no other extra documentation fees or any other dealer fees. There was also an additional $1,000 after tax Acura incentive so the final cash on the road price was $51,500. Overall the 2019 model seems to be a pretty big improvement over our own 2017 Acura RDX especially with the SH-AWD.

Which dealership was that? I guess since it's near the end if the year and the initial hype has died down a bit, they are more willing to talk price.

I actually bought the 2019 RDX just after it came out in August from Lougheed Acura. Since we bought our first Acura MDX in 2009 I have arranged 6 sales for friends and family through the same sales person and always get a pretty good discount from him.

If anyone needs a hook up on the RDX, inbox me and I will pass you over to my contact at Acura, great feedback from everyone I've refered to him so far.

Where are you finding the .99% financing - it's not on their website.
FWIW, I was able to negotiate down to $55,500 for a 2020 A-Spec in cash all-in. That's about 2.75% above invoice IIRC.

acura loyalty rate knocks off 2 percentage points to whichever rate you get.
so assume i went 36 months at 2.99...2 points off brings it to .99.
