I guess I should feel lucky not to work at Rogers. Had their cell phones years ago and I was straight out lied about the fees. Even when I phone CRTC to complain. They investigated the issue listen to the calls and even admits the agent didn't give me the right info. But nothing they can do. I pay up and never again will go with Rogers and in fact I told everyone i know to stay away from them.

Rogers blows. My month to month plan kept going up and I called in to see what's going on. The guy said I had an old plan and they had a value pack that was better and would save me money. I asked multiple times if I was going to lose any features and he said no, I would only gain things.

Fast forward to my next bill and I have like $30 in overage charges because of texts...I was supposed to have unlimited texts, I confirmed that before I switched value packs. I call in and they say "sorry your plan only has unlimited INTERNATIONAL texts, local texts are pay per use"...I explained to them that why in the hell would I switch to a plan where I have no Canada texts when you can see from my previous months usage that it's something I use hundreds of times a month. Also how the fuck is it not free to text someone locally but I can text someone in Australia all I want?

They go on to tell me that it must have been some kind of misunderstanding but unfortunately my old plan isn't available anymore and they'd have to get ahold of head office to get it back which will take days. In the meantime he said he could only put me on a different plan (more expensive than what I was originally paying before I called them in the first place) and he put on a temporary credit so it was similar to what I was paying before.

He assured me I'd receive a phone call within a couple of days and it would all get resolved. I never did hear back from them, and I switched to Telus when that 10gb offer came along before my credits expired with Rogers.

im still with the shitty rogers. I thought about switching like a million times, but it doesnt seem to be worth it since most plans are all Bring your own device.

50 bucks for 6 gigs and unlimited evenings and weekends. They hate my stinking plan, but still have to honor it as long as i dont get a new phone, or add/change anything.

They changed mine plenty of times. Once you're month to month they can raise your rates if they want to.

Is it different because it's corporate ? It's an old CN rail plan that they don't even have anymore. Still hasn't changed yet.

I'm not sure if they are less likely to change old business plans, that could be the case, I just know that it's within their means to charge you more after your contact is up.

Not surprised. Telus, Shaw, Bell they all do that stuff. I got so many phone calls of them trying to up sell me services I don't need. They tell you its only a few dollars more and you get faster service. I tell them well if its only a few dollars more, I am sure a few dollars less wont be so bad for a multi billion dollar company. Corporate greed FTW

I'm not in sales. But I'd assume this is the norm for most people who are? Or am I completely wrong on this?

Common sense says they would base this on everyone's averages and that'll also include the average person's sick day as well. If you were sick for a significant amount of time, talk to your manager? The reporting system likely aren't looking at sales per working day LOL.

If sales reps aren't being pressured to sell, the manager's not doing their job.

The article seems to articulate things most consumers are aware already.

With that new $60 10gb plan I don’t see them raising rates because people are just going to pick up and leave at this point.

Freedom mobile etc and other providers now are finally seemingly realizing there is value in numbers and lots of undercutting happening recently where the consumer is finally coming out ahead in the deal

unless theres going to be a better deal, which wouldnt happen until the next big holiday.. even at $70, its still the best deal for 10gb worth of data..

I have done my share of awful sales crap and call centre when I was in first year college, we can be pushy but we never had daily team target that didn't take into account someone sick.

Freedom is only picking up some momentum because they're finally carrying iphones

http://business.financialpost.com/te...t-major-growth

lol I told my dad about the $60/10 and he said he couldn't get through Rogers at all on the phone during the promo
rep told him deal over, so now he signed another 2 years $5 dollar more with 5 more gigs than before without HUP (was on some outdated 2GB shared plan before)...i'm like LOL that's how they get you

It's not just the call centre people... when I was reading on the 10GB plan last time, and about how some of you guys had it done on a walk-in basis, I decided to try it out at Lynn Valley Centre. The guy at the kiosk wouldn't even help us and told us we have to call in, and that the website was wrong saying that we could walk-in. He even told another potential customer that they had to pay to unlock their cellphone, even though law already mandated free unlock. Then I recalled a previous encounter with the dude, trying to buy a sim card, seems like he won't do any business with existing customers because then he won't get a commission.

IMO all of the Big Three does this type of shit. It's what happens when there's no competition and they know they will get away it it because the choices are so few.

I recently signed up to Fibe Internet with Bell, who had a promo for 150mbps and free modem rental for $64.95 per month for the first year. I thought it was a good deal, and after reading the fine print on Bell's website I decided to sign up.

Little did I know, the sales associate at the Bell Store charged me $14.95 a month in addition for "Alt TV" even though I specifically told him that I only needed Internet and I don't need or want a TV service.

3 calls to Bell later - after being straight up lied to and told that my Internet promo was only good if I got Alt TV along with it, even though the agreement/paperwork I was given had ZERO mention of that - I finally was able to escalate it to a manager who was able to "give me a break" and cancel my Fibe TV.

Just the way the manager said it almost made me want to punch him in the face (if he was in front of me). Give me a break? After adding a charge for a service I specifically said I DIDN'T WANT? I get that $14.95 a month isn't a ton of money, but it is a lot to pay for something that I don't need and didn't ever use. But for them to treat me like that was utter and complete horseshit.

Worst part is, I can pretty much guarantee if I switched to another provider they would give me the same bullshit. If only Shaw operated in Ontario - they're the only service I never had any sort of problems with....

It's a good idea to record any conversations you have with sales person when signing up.
