So I bought a second car.

On my first car I have 43 % discount. So why is that my second car I only get 25% (so I'm paying more for 2nd car that is older, smaller engine than 1st, much cheaper to replace (even with only liability insurance)).
Not like my driving gets shittier when I'm driving the 2nd car.

That on top, that I can drive one car at a time.

when is the last time you had an at-fault claim?

call icbc if your record is clean

Did you get into an accident recently? You might of moved down a few steps if icbc found you at fault.

Haven't had any in recent years. . Guess will call them

So discount on both cars should be same? Right?

The first car usually gets the rape charge if you got in an accident and thr 2nd car gets max discount. Unless you put someone else as primary driver on the second car which could decrease the discount depending on how long they had their license or if they had an accident.

Yes you can have a different discount amount on two different cars.

At 16 I had an at fault accident on my father's car at a time when I did not own nor have a car insured. Shortly after I purchased and insured a car. The claim continued to be attached to my father's car (plate) so it did not affect my discount.

Fast forward to years later and my father finally disposed of the plates that had the claim attached. It was now a hanging claim between myself and my father.

Because I was the next to get insurance by purchasing a second car with new plates, the claim attached to my new plates which lowered my discount on that second car I purchased.

called in icbc

issue...them not giving me out of province discount on this plate. icbc will send me a refund chq and give me 40% at renewal.''

i still think it should be cheaper as i can only drive 1 car at a time. why liability x 2? just should maintain storage/hit and run and comprehensive on other..

Yup, same thing happened to me when I had an accident with my mom's car when I was 16. Got hit with this surprise increase when I bought a second car like 10 years later.

Off topic. I just came from an auto plan and saved $3xx
Because there's this discount where. Everyone in your household has more then 10 years driving experience.
Don't forget to add that to yours. If you qualify .

I wish you could pay for coverage for both cars but really only pay for one it's not like you're driving both cars at the same time.

Needless to say I have 43% on one car and on the second car I have a little better discount as I have 10 yrs driving xp so far 0 at fault accidents. Some really close calls sometimes I'm amazed at my own reflexes
