Started a channel to document the build of my Abarth 124. Our car porn game is pretty strong IMHO :D

We're building up to a 400 hp Abarth.

Here's the latest video.

Cool, actual local car related stuff and not someone trying to plug a vlog channel! Like the production and will keep checking in.

Nice videography! My feedback would be to find some way to digitally normalize the volume of videos if you can? speech volume is very quiet, music is blasting

Hahaha... sometimes I am a bit of a sporadic moron. :p

Thanks! Yeah, you're right. I didn't even notice it until I went back and watched it on my TV. I'll make sure I normalize the audio track on the next one though.

Busy watching something else on YouTube right now. But did you find a place in the GVRD you can actually get pump e85?

Yup. Made a video about it. The owner of a Flying J in New West bought Amir's setup from Arcade. They're on 24 Braid Street. The pump even still has the "a" on it.

that will be one fun car once done, sad to see no more 500 but i guess you already were pushing the limits for what youd want for a fwd platform with such a short wheelbase/tires. funny enough i just installed the road race kit on my wifes abarth 500 and it feels fast for about 230-250hp

Abarth decided to go for a different engine build, which sucks in a sense because the Miata has one of the biggest modding communities out there with a ton of data/dyno info for every performance mod. With the Abarth... well you certainly feel like you are the pioneer of any mod because there is very limited info/data on performance upgrades.

The upside to the Abarth is that it has a turbo, so a tune can bring out a lot more power.

Which one did you get? I have my eye on the "2012-2017 Fiat 500T Ultimate BASIC ECM (stage 3)" link (https://roadracemotorsports.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_174_175&products_id=2101&zenid=e5jia3ode5c0t0g7e7a1bmic65)

I got the stage 2.5 (ECU + CAI) from them, it was a very noticeable difference for the Abarth and brought it up quite a bit on the fun factor.

I'm not sure how the 500T ECU is but I'm sure it will feel like the car was brought back from the dead as well.

If you do get it, you will likely need to re-gap your spark plugs. Nobody really mentions it in the manual or forums until you start to troubleshoot why the new ECU is giving you check engine lights and then remember +HP on a turbo/supercharged car means you need to close your spark plugs gap.

The 124 Spider is still running on a ton of Mazda mechanical stuff, so nearly all the ND Miata non-engine related parts are still a direct fit. Additionally, Brian Goodwin of Good-Win-Racing (http://www.good-win-racing.com/), a long time US Miata specialist, has signed on to provide aftermarket support for the car. The stuff they R&D, then subsequently mass produce for previous generations of Miatas has always been exceptionally well received by the Miata community. So as far as aftermarket for the 124 is concerned, there is absolutely no shortage of it.

Those Road Race boxes are a fun quick power adder. They make about 180 whp when paired with an intake and downpipe. Add an FMIC and full exhaust and they hit about 195. (This is on the dyno I'm used to being on). After you've had it on for a few months, reset the cars ECU. The RRM loses power over time due to the ECU's torque limit adaptive tables.

Get an OBD tune instead if you haven't already purchased a signal modifier (RRM box). The boxes work by fooling the ECU but the ECU will adapt over time and you will end up reseting the battery every couple months to retain power.

They're still a ton of fun if you just want a bit of a boost but they get annihilated by a good OBD tune which is not much more expensive. An OBD tune will make 200 to the wheels where an RRM box will make 180 on the same car with the same bolt ons on the same dyno.

Yeah, I actually find it funny they tell you to drive it as aggressively as possible after installing/resetting to teach the ECU to be more aggressive. But realistically it just goes downhill as it learns. Plus where will you really drive aggressively in any metropolitan area.

Either way, I'm happy with the performance for the cost. I have an Evo X to play around with, so for the wife, its more than enough.

I haven't posted in here in a while. So much going on. Put a built engine and a new Garrett G25-550 turbo in the car while sorting out the details of the QV electrical system. Slapped a hater pipe out the hood while I was in Washington state. Obviously had to remove it before coming back up to Canada but it was rad.
