is 170-200 reasonable by them for that type of job? Read that everywhere else should be around 80-100?

Hard to say cuz it depends on car and job, I usually just drive my car in for a quote

I got my car done there. Def cheapest price all around, cheaper than where I used to go which is Kingsway brake & muffler. The welds are not as pretty (jobber welds), so if you want nice pretty looking welds I would look else where.

Hoeglers, pretty straight forward and last I remember relatively well priced.

^^ Richmond staple. But every time I’ve needed work there, they have used oxy/acetylene welding and not MIG. Don’t even know if they own one lol.

I’d be down for a group buy, I need a little pipe welded in my exhaust as well

I actually went back there. The owner never lets me pay cash. Always with tax :okay: Although he did price match with the muffler man on kingsway, both owner and employee said they always have to repair vehicles that have been done at muffler man haha

Do you have any pics of the welds? How do you know they're good? :O

I've had to redo two exhausts that came outta muffler man because they were falling off/leaking.

I feel like ymmv with muffler man depending on who's doing the welds. Mine look OK and has no leaks from my resonator delete. Previous car had a muffler done by them and was good for 3+ years. Friend of mine went once and had a leak when he got home :concentrate:

Their pricing is very cheap, so they must make money from volume. Jobs need to be completed as quick as possible in order to make money. So, they don't remove exhausts to do the welds, they weld with exhaust on the car. On cars with little to no clearance on the top side of the exhaust, it is impossible to lay a good bead because they can't see what they're welding. They just spray and pray - lay a glob of weld on the top and hope that it doesn't leak. That's why their quality is inconsistent, it's by no means properly done.

That just makes me think of my focus ST and RS. Ford installs the one piece downpipe-back exhaust on the assembly line BEFORE they put in the rear subframe and chassis bracing and the like. So if you want to swap out the exhaust you have to cut apart the oem exhaust in 2-3 pieces. I suppose in the future if someone wanted to replace their aged worn exhaust they can’t even go oem as an option ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, they would have to cut the OEM one and weld flanges on if they want to do it properly. Welding exhaust on the car will always be a flip of the coin as far as how solid that top part of the pipe is welded. If it's a muffler at the end of the car, it's easier to get access to the top of the exhaust and see a little bit of what you're doing. Near the cat area where the exhaust tunnel is, there's very little access and it's basically a guessing game as to how well the bead is filled.
