Happy Canada Day
I know RS is full of FOBs with little or no interest in this country, but for the others on RS, who love this country of ours, or the few FOBs who try to embrace what this country has to offer, what are your plans for today?
I do the BBQ thing at home for the family. And, I have to find a place where they have Canada Day cake. Hmmmm........... maybe casino, gulolol.
Why does it always seem to rain on Canada Day?

I joke about FOBs all the time, but FOBs helped build this country. They saw this country as a new beginning for their children’s children. Those children and their children have become productive citizens of this great country. Canada Day. I’m proud to be Canadian.

I went up to a cute chick and asked her if she'd let me take a photo of her for $30 she slapped me, she said to me that "I AIN'T A WHORE!"
But other than that I have seen every car on display in DTP just by cruising about in Richmond, thank you very much for collecting them together and get someone to sing a cover for "fuck you".
OH FUCK YOU OH OH OOOOH~

So, there's talk going around about canceling Canada Day celebrations because of recent events.............
This angers me as much as it saddens me.
I hope it doesn't gain any momentum and people come to their senses. Realize that Canada Day is not about them. I get it, but history is history. Learn from the mistakes of the past. Vandalizing and destroying statues is not going to erase those mistakes. What's next?
Canada = Kanata = Village. Canada is a great country. A colourful past with a lot of good. A nation that is well respected on the world stage.
I will continue to celebrate Canada Day on July 1st.

The counter argument is that it is not history, and it is not in the past. It's not something that happened before but has stopped happening since, it is STILL happening.

Bill Good in "A Minute with Bill Good." on News 1130 addressed Victoria's decision to cancel celebrations. He made some good, pun not intended, points.
Step 3 of the Covid restart plan coincides with Canada Day. Pepper your angus, it might be a wild day of celebrations?! (and not because it's Canada's birthday lol)

Happy Canada Day, RS.
Proud to say, "I'm Canadian." I've driven across Canada and have met all kinds of people. It's the people that matter. Not the history or the politics. We are going through some rough times, but we will find a way to find the much needed solutions, continue to live in harmony, and move forward.
What happened to the indigenous segment of our country is tragic. We are not the only country to have done this sort of thing in the past. I am glad, however, that we are not hiding it. What are the other countries doing about their past atrocities?
Anyway, not going to turn this day into a day of arguing. Going to celebrate the day like I've always done. With friends and family and the flag flying proudly on my property.

dont forget the new HST rules come into effect today, obligating large companies to collect HST on digital services they sell into Canada. aka Netflix,Spotify,PSN,Steam etc.

Blessed to Canadian (no what what kinda shit that happens in our country). Strangely last night when I whipped out the Ipad in bed to watch some youtube, it popped up a VICE youtube story on Femicide in Honduras (made me quite sad to see what kind of bullshit goes on in the world). Truly grateful we live in a safe place.
Happy Canada Day! I guess I left my Canadian flag up at the cabin, so I had to make due with a red moose rocking rocking horse out front.
29 years ago today, 11 yr old me had to read his IODE contest-winning essay, on "Why I Am Proud To Be Canadian", in front of an arena full of people, on Canada's 125th birthday. The essay is somewhere in my parent's crawl space, but I can still remember many of the sentiments within. I am still proud to be a Canadian, and those sentiments still ring true today. We still have much to be proud about.
Honouring residential school children would have been better served on a day like National Aboriginal Day, June 21st. Rather than coming together today, we appear to have increased divisiveness among Canadians. Oh well.
