| Transferring Music from iPod to Computer
I've been searching google for an hour trying to figure out how to transfer music from an iPod to my computer. The iPod was loaded with music on a computer a couple thousand KM away. lol
I have an iPod full of traditional Greek music which I am trying to transfer to my computer to forward to our music people for our wedding. It seems with new versions of iTunes this is much more difficult to do. I see some $30-50 apps which can do it for me, but there must be another way.
Can anyone PM or offer some suggestions?

iTunes should work.
Your computer is an Apple product?

If you're using a PC, plug in your iPod into the computer and open up My Computer.
From there navigate to the iPod and open it up. Click on Folder options and check on show hidden folders.
Then you will see all the folders on your iPod. Select all, drag and drop into iTunes and you're set.

Back in my days when I had an iPod I wanted to do the same thing. There are numerous free products out there that allow you to do this! you just gotta google it!

Does it work for iPhones and does the reverse procedure (transferring music from computer to iPhone without using iTunes) work?

My MacBook is not the computer which the iPod was made. I haven’t plugged it in as I’m aftiad it will start to automatically sync (even though I turned off that option in iTunes). Meaning it will wipe the iPod clean. I’ve yet to plug it in. I’ll try my little netbook thing as it’s not a Mac. I’ll try win amp too. That suncios one is free to download but when you install it costs 30-50.

To be safe uninstall iTunes completely. Using Windows should give you more options for this though.

Tried to do it on my little netbook thing but it only has mini USB and I can’t convert.
Winamp on Mac seemed useless, and couldn’t find a Apple iDevice addon like you could with the windows versions.
Found a program with a 30 day trial. Did it safely after a quick panic when iTunes fired up automatically and started syncing. Lol

Just do a backup in iTunes. Don't do a restore, that is all.
If you haven't connected and sync'd another iPod, iPhone, iWhatever, you should be safe. If you're really paranoid, just move all movies, photos, videos from your laptop into a folder and put it in the trash. Without deleting the trash, of course. Shit in the trash cannot be accessed by the operating system. It can be used as a "safe" place until you put things back where they belong. Or just burn the info on a DVD, or physically copy it onto a flash drive. Then move the shit into the trash. Actually, if the files are in documents or in any location other than the users' folder, it should be okay. Plug the iPhone in and sync to iTunes. In preferences, check all video, music, etc. It'll all go into the proper folder and you're good.
iTunes files are in the users folder of your laptop. See what's in there first.

I was in your situation earlier this year. My computer got stolen and I wanted to transfer all my old music (bunch of Asian songs that are very difficult for me to download because I can't read or write the language) from my iPhone into my new computer.
Researched and googled for hours and days. There were some complicated methods like going into Command Prompt or DOS which I was scared to do because I am not the most tech-savvy and didn't want to risk losing all the music or corrupting my new computer.
In the end, I just said fuck it and took the hit and paid $40 for a "transfer program". Figured the money I paid for the solution was just not worth my time and stress anymore.
After I downloaded the program it was super simple and easy, plugged in my phone, it found all my songs, a couple clicks later and all my songs were organized and filed into my computer hard drive. I'm a bit OCD as well so this was wonderful.
I used this program, but there are 4-5 other ones that are pretty much identical. https://macroplant.com/iexplorer
There was a "Trial Version" of the program I used, but it only let me do 3 songs at a time. I had like 2000 songs so.... nopes!

Ah if you posted this 7 months ago, we could have shared a "2 PC" package and saved 37%! ...
Edit: I vaguely remember there was a way to just direct transfer "files" from device to PC, but then all the file names were gibberish "XHAYDJZ" so you would have to personally rename each file which was a pain in the ass too. However that was like 5+ years ago now and I think Apple disabled this method?

Sorry I couldn't add more, but about ten years ago i wanted to synchronize music outside of the iTunes, and i was able to find a free programme that could do so... but it's somewhere on my old virus-riddled hard drive containing a version of fake Windows XP....... and I don't remember the name of it..
I think it's still possible to find a free application...?

It's dealing with BS itunes that was the last straw for me. I replaced my iPhone with an Android almost 10 years ago, haven't looked back since.
Now when I want to transfer any media, I just plug in my Android phone then drag and drop. The way it should be.

But now with music streaming services, there's little to no need to use it anymore for most users.
