Two people are in custody following a carjacking early Monday morning in Richmond.

Richmond RCMP say a woman in her 40s was starting her Toyota SUV at a residence in the 5000 block of Walton Road when she was approached by a person clad in dark clothing.

The stranger smashed her window with a weapon and then stolen the vehicle leaving the woman behind.

Police say the victim, who was visibly shaken from the incident, was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The incident happened at 7:30 a.m.

Vancouver police located the stolen vehicle about 90 minutes later near Boundary Road and East Hastings Street. Two people — a 28-year-old man from Delta and a 21-year-old woman from Pitt Meadows — were arrested and turned over to Richmond RCMP.

Their names have not been released as charges are still pending.

I'm pretty sure the RDX was another undercover. (Almost) no one would cut that aggressively into the opposite incoming traffic just to avoid (and go around) a traffic jam.

I would give benefit of the doubt the Jeep was also an undercover considering it was already in the opposite traffic lane. It probably provided aid to ensure it was safe for the RDX to just bolt out into the opposite traffic lane.

The red Lexus in front is most likely a regular civilian, cause it's not a SUV, and it was signalling trying to change lanes before it realized VPD was coming from every lane so changing lanes would be pointless. RDX was supposed to pin in the suspect on the right side, but the Lexus did a good job of that, so it just went around the whole cluster instead to get to the front of the action.

Wait, i'm a little confused here. Was the car in front of the red lexus the perp? I thought a Toyota SUV was hijacked? The car in front of the lexus looked like a car?

I think it was the first car at the light, looks to be a SUV

When the two undercover pickup trucks rolled up the cops got out and pointed the rifle towards the front of the vehicle (towards the traffic light)

It wouldn't be the car they had pinched because they would've had each other in their crossfire.

Good dad. Calmy U turns and tells his son not to be scared and slowly drive away.

Does Toyota have a system were they can remotely turn the car off? The cam car seemed confused as to why traffic wasn't moving. Did they kill the motor at the light then swarm in?

Berz out.

This ranks up there with the granville/marine takedown.

Hard to tell from the clip but did the Ford truck smash into the fender of the white Honda Accord at the 0:34 mark in the video?

highly doubt it

though i was also wondering why it was stationary on green, just assumed police was already on the Burnaby side or just around the corner instructing it not to move, but then why stun grenades from the rear?

i think your assessment is incorrect
there's already two Tahoe K9 units that closed in seconds afterwards

you have to remember you just saw a police swarm with assault rifles followed by two loud bangs, you must assume worst case scenario and fleeing with adrenaline means you may forget to check traffic (as you mentioned the jeep was already to the left of it suggesting oncoming lane was clear). I've seen Nissan full-size SUV as unmarked but never Acura or Lexus as one, do they have luxury brand ghost cars?
