A woman who lives on the same street and asked not to be named said her parents called her while she was out to say police had the street blocked. She later saw the same cellphone video that went viral.
“I’ve been trying to get my family to move out of this city for years because of things like this happening,” she told Global News on Sunday. “I’m so pissed at the police and the city. Things are so bad now. I hate it here.”
“It’s like a scene out of Colombia or Mexico,” he said. “This is not Surrey anymore. It’s like something out of a crime movie. We need more police, we need more resources. This has to stop.”

Surrey RCMP said Friday that the city has seen a 43 per cent increase in violent crime during the first quarter of 2019.

Some official news on the event:

SURREY (NEWS 1130) (https://www.citynews1130.com/2019/04/29/dangerous-driving-assault-gang-conflict-surrey/) – Mounties believe a recent case of dangerous driving and assault may be linked to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict.

The Surrey RCMP was called to the area of 135A Street and 88 Avenue around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th.

They were responding to reports of vehicles driving dangerously and people fighting on the street.

Video of the incident was posted to social media.

“We had received multiple 911 calls about vehicles driving dangerously and people fighting in the street,” says Cpl. Elenore Sturko.

One person suffered serious injuries while two others had minor injuries.

A Nissan Maxima and Ford Taurus were found at the scene and seized by investigators.

“Our investigators do believe that the parties involved in this occurrence were known to each other. They might be linked to the Lower Mainland gang conflict,” Sturko adds. “Our investigation is ongoing and we’re looking for other individuals and vehicles including a red Dodge Caravan, a black Volkswagen Jetta, and a burgundy Honda Accord that were also involved in the event.”

Mounties say no shots were fired, despite earlier reports suggesting otherwise.

“We’re are aware of the video that has been circulating and we’re asking anyone who has video of the incident or more information to give us a call,” she adds.

The places with the harshest of punishments should be crime free, yet they aren't. The threat of punishment is not a deterrent for these people. We need to be giving these kids opportunities and reducing recidivism rates so when they do fuck up, they are given the tools to leave gangs and find not just jobs, but careers and life goals.
