Here is half of my family, and where I get my name from. Adam and Robert passed down the line. My grandfathers name is Robert and his middle name was Adam. My sons middle names are Robert Adam
As you can see my family has been here a long time. The other half is Scottish heritage.

100% Finnish from my dads side and kind of that Uk blend from my moms side mostly Scottish I think her side was.
My dad was always adamant he was pure Fin, as a lot of people from that area have some sort of Russian or Baltic background but he was sure he was pure fin lol he then did a 23andme testing and sure enough, he turned out to be 99.6% fin lol. Basically as far back as the gene could be traced it’s from that specific area and not a more Baltic regional area

Both my parents came from Poland
My Mom came over in 1962 (she was 9)
My Dad came over in 1979 (He was 25)
Kind of funny the differences coming as a child vs adult makes. My mom has no accent at all, while my dad's is still pretty heavy after all these years. Also funny that out of all the Canadian dudes she dated, my mom decided to marry a Polish FOB.

Bro it's no more boring than anyone else's... Especially if you know the regions where your family came from. There's so much diversity in the regions of China! (before the great revolution)
My wife's family comes from Guilin on one side (via Shanghai) and I believe Xiamen on the other. Her mom's side fled to HK in the 50's and her dad's side was in HK a couple generations before that. This difference actually leads to contrary opinions on the current situation, and some very awkward moments.
Both parents should've been villagers from China but were born and raised in India. Grandparents fled there due to the Nanking Massacre.
Proud of my parents/family for essentially coming from the slums in Calcutta to make a decent life in Canada.

Being young helps. I speak English and Cantonese without accents because I grew up speaking both, I sound like a local wherever I go. I speak French like a fob though.. likely because I didn't learn it until high school.

I'm the opposite. I was born in Richmond, went back to HK when I was younger, but I was mostly in Canada from 4 y/o and on wards. But I speak English with a slight Chinese accent (can't say my THs, like three/free, thought/thot), and I speak Cantonese with a white guy accent (think Mayor Gregor).
I learned French in high school, but don't remember much but the basics. Ironically, I was really into "Tong Hua - Guang Liang" throughout high school, so my mando pronunciation is more on point than my Canto pronunciation.

Filipino
Dad side - Filipino of Chinese background.
Mom - Filipino with some White American and "supposedly" Spanish descent. I say supposedly because Filipinos are notorious for claiming we have Spanish blood even though 70% of us do not look like we have Spanish ancestry.
End Result: Depending who I interact, I get claimed by their races. Chinese fellow will think I am Chinese; Japanese fellow will think I am; Halfer Asians will think I am halfer etc.
When I used to visit my ex in-laws up north, white Canadians from the interior will think I am aboriginal. Unfortunately, wypipo and native relations in interior Canada are not that good, so I get some racism here and there. Just gotta man it up.
