2020 Blue Jays
I have a good feeling about this year's team. The young players are not that green anymore. They swept a double header today against the Phillies. Last game, they were down 7-0. Came back and won it. Their pitching has improved from last season and it's making a big difference. They struggled at the beginning of the season, but 5 wins in a roll when it counted.
Bo Bichette is injured. Not sure when he's coming back, but he was on fire before his injury
Bichette was hitting a blazing .361/.391/.672 with five home runs and 13 RBIs in 14 games before his injury. After a second opinion on Aug. 17, Bichette was diagnosed with a Grade 1 sprain of the lateral collateral ligament which is considered a minor injury.
Not being able to have MLB home games in Toronto, they found a temporary home stadium in Buffalo.
No fans, no Mariana Bichette (hot mom) cheering in the stands............
Thanks a lot, pandemic.
Anyway, Blue Jays have won the World Series before. Back to back in fact. The Blue Jays were Canada's team long before the Raptors.
Anyone else follow the Jays on here?

I'm not into baseball, but I remember riding the bandwagon for their back-to-back wins. My mom worked at CIBC, who was a sponsor, at the time, and I got a bunch of free Jays/CIBC swag from that. I found my nylon Jays wallet a few weeks ago while cleaning up my parents' place. It got stained by the flood, so I tossed it:P.

Im following it loosely at best, but I’m glad to see you haven’t succumbed to Covid MG :spamarama:
If I had succumbed to Covid, Flip and a couple of other RS members would let you guys know ASAP.
Flip's a good friend. bcrdukes and yray are just stalkers. Gulolol..............
The Mount Royal Expos were close to winning the World Series shortly after Toronto's back to back. A player's strike killed what would have been a very promising opportunity......
But fans of the club’s earlier incarnation, Les Expos, will always wonder about the one that got away 25 years ago. The 1994 baseball season ended with a players’ strike on Aug. 12, and with that, countless what-ifs were launched. So let’s talk about them. What if the season hadn’t ended? What if, instead, ’94 had been allowed to play out as scheduled? Would Roger Maris’s home run record have been broken early? Would Tony Gwynn have hit .400? Would the Expos, owners of an MLB-best 74-40 record when play ceased, have actually won the World Series?
Toronto 1992 and 1993. Montreal would have made it 3 consecutive championships won by a Canadian team.
I remember the 1992 world Series. Braves fans doing the Tomahawk chop, lol.

For you youngsters who have the attention span of a gnat, skip to 3:32
Notice there's no banner with every fucking stat of the game on the screen? Most fans nowadays would be having fits. lol.

I used to love watching Pat Hentgen and Duane Ward and Tom Henke... Juan Guzman... lol
Used to hit my cleats with the bat everytime at bat same as Winfield... Carter... Molitor was always a favourite of mine too... Alomar Jr. was a great player but I never found him endearing at all
Sweetest swing in baseball outside of Ken Griffey Jr was always John Olerud
Looking back now at that team's roster, they were so stacked man... Key, Leiter, Morris, Timlin etc... their pitching roster was NUTS even by today's standards

Yes I follow closely, try to watch as many games as I can.
I am not quite ready to declare this team as a playoff contender. Much improved from last year, but they still make too many defensive mistakes and the rotation is not yet reliable.
Yes it's nice to say they can came back from a 7-0 deficit, but you really shouldn't allow 7 runs to begin with! Fix that and then you might have a chance to make it to round 2 or 3.
4 wins in a row.
5th one today?
They're in 3rd place 4-1/2 games out. The other birds from Baltimore that are playing the Jays today are 4-1/2 games behind the Jays. Blue Jays > Orioles.
Today is MLB's trade deadline. Love the stories of players being told in the middle of the game that they've traded.......... see ya!
https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-has-history-of-in-game-trades/c-139773172
Wow, Gurriel steals third with an awesome decoy move. Slides in well after ball arrives. Third baseman swipes at Gurriel, going for his right hand. Gurriel sticks his left hand out at the last moment and he's safe. Anyway.............
Speaking of other teams, why are the Cleveland Indians still called the Indians? They should go back to their former name, the Cleveland Naps, lol. I think Indians are a worse name than the Braves. I guess they don't do any tomahawk chants at the Cleveland games?
Jays are now in second place with Yankees one game behind. They're playing the Yankees right now. Korean pitcher, Hyun-Jin Ryu is starting and is supposed to be pretty good, but he gave up two solo home runs in the opening inning. Cavan Biggio with lead off double stole third base with 0 outs. Tellez then hits a double and all of a sudden, it looks like one of those crazy innings, but one is all they get. Hopefully, Ryu shuts the Yankees down from this point on.
With a couple of key injured players, Bichette and Hernandez slated to come back soon, the Jays are looking pretty good.
Home games are in Buffalo, NY, but man, the Jays' ground crew have done a great job of sprucing up the field and stands.
Go, Jays, GO!

BlueJay so good?
Holy Mohamed, Blue Jays down 6-2 and they tie it. After inning after inning of stranding players...........
"Big" surprise. Flabby, I mean, Vladdy, steals second. First one this season. For those who don't follow the Jays, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is one big man. He's not the fastest player out there. He catches everybody off guard and steals a base. Everybody is either laughing or picking up their jaws...........
It ain't over till it's over. This young team is full of talent, but no experience. The come backs they've had this season is a welcome sign. Second in the league for come back wins. Still some innings left to go, but gotta love the never say die attitude.
Kind of like this year's Canucks.
Damn......... bases loaded with one out and the Jays get a Grand Slam! 10 run inning, so far. Still one out.
Three games series with the Yanks. This is going to really challenge the Yankees' bull pen. Because of Covid the games are one after the other. one day of rest per week

yeah I have to say, the games are worth tuning in for right now, this team has some momentum going.
The Blue Jays are truly a global team.......... players from Japan, Korea, Dominican Republic, Brazil (kind of), Puerto Rico, Cuba, Guam, etc.
They even have a Taijuan, :lawl:
yeah I have to say, the games are worth tuning in for right now, this team has some momentum going.
Not quite World Series ready, but fun to watch, yes?
Why is Taiwan still in this game? Walks 5 Yankees and hits one. Right on the shoulder. Living up to his name, Taijuan Walker, lol.
Looks like they're warming up Yamaguchi.

09-08-2020, 05:09 PM
With our pitching tonight, we are fortunate the yankees have no offence going right now.
I hope the pitching doesn't completely fall apart before the season runs out.
Yamaguchi got his shit together in the end.
The Jays bull pen is a little better than New York's bull pen. I think Montoyo is being cautious with so many games due to the condensed season.
It's a close game, so pitching is an issue and the Jays have the advantage, IMHO.
Speaking of pitching, where's kunoman?
3 more outs and this one is in the books.
Rafael Dolis, who played in the Japanese league for a few years as a closer, is in for the Jays as the closer.
And................ he does it.
3 up 3 down......... struck them out!
I want that Hazel Mae bobblehead!
28 games in 27 days took its toll. Jays losing today to NY. After winning the first two of the back to back to back.
They finally get a day off. Two games ahead of NY Yankees in the standings, as of today.
Friday, they start a three game series with the New York Mets.

Tellez injured in a bummer. Don't know if we'll see him back.
Yeah, I remember seeing it and it was the darnest thing. He stepped on some soft spot in foul territory (bull pen). He missed catching the ball because of it. He seemed sort of okay at the time. Later on it was pretty obvious it was more than just a minor ankle sprain..... sprained knee.
Holy Hannah, who's this pitcher for the Mets?
99 mph fast ball repeatedly, then a 93mph changeup that defies the laws of physics. More movement than Beethoven's 9th.
Atlanta Braves just destroy the Miami Marlins in a 29 - 9 route. A new record in the National League. Previous record was 28 runs in a game in 1929.
All time most runs = Texas Rangers over Baltimore Orioles in 2007.
Speaking of one sided games, the Jays are down 9 - 1 in the top of the 4th.
Nine runs in seven hits. One error and five walks. Waguespack just called into the game. Hopefully he can make a difference.
12-1 now, with no sign of relief. Gotta love games like this.
Now I've seen everything............ Jays down 1-0 bottom of the 4th. Bichette hits a single and Shaw right afterwards hits a double. Bichette being a fast runner runs home. Tie game, right? No way, Hosé. The umps call the Mets' coach over. They take the run back because the ball that Shaw hit got stuck under the padding in centre field. Umps can't do shit like that. If the Mets' coach said something, yeah, it might be okay. Besides all that, the Mets' outfielder dug the ball out and played it. The rule has always been, the outfielder raises his hand which stops the play. Unbelievable.
Didn't matter, because Grichuk hit a single and Bichette scores anyway.
If that wasn't enough, in the next play, Mets get an unassisted play by the pitcher at third base.
Just now, top of the 5th, Mets' batter takes first because he got hit by a pitch. Everything is cool, but runner gets sent back. Apparently ball hit the knob of the bat. Mets' player made it look like he got hit, lol. Blue Jays coaching staff are, "on the ball" in this game.
Ruling just came in from MLB headquarters. Ball that gets lodged in cracks, bushes, etc. are automatically deemed dead.
Strangest thing I've seen in baseball was an unassisted triple play. Once in a Blue Moon kind of thing. Okay, I lied. The absolute weirdest thing I've seen in baseball was when a pitcher (can't remember who) picks up a bouncer and is about to throw the ball to first. The ball gets stuck in his glove, so he throws the glove, with the ball still stuck in the glove to first and throws him out. WOW!

A nooner, rubber match, today. Hopefully, the Korean pitcher , Hyun-jin Ryu, can do a little better against the other New York team. Against the Yankees, 5 runs, 4 walks and hit a batter, lol.
I want to see this again.........
https://www.mlb.com/news/vlad-guerrero-jr-first-career-stolen-base
I love windy afternoon games. Get to see outfielders going nuts over fly balls.
Damn, that Gurriel is an amazing outfielder. Acrobatic catches are a normal thing with this guy. Just now, he hit the ball over the netting and onto the street for a huge two run homer.
Jays ahead 2-1 at bottom of 2nd.
Ryu leaving a slew of players on base each inning, but surviving...........so far. 8 hits one run. Not bad against a team that's known for scoring.
LOL, a snow cone catch in centre field.
Blue Jays get their final day off for the remainder of the season tomorrow. They're tied with the Yankees with two weeks left to go. They play the Yankees 7 more times. 3 away and 4 home (Buffalo). 14 games in 13 days to end the season. Two games vs Phillies and three against the Orioles. New York Yankees and Blue Jays are 4-1/2 games out of first place. With that many games left, anything can happen. Bichette is now back and with a couple more injuries slated to come back, the last 14 games will be interesting.
Hory cats.........
4 walks in a row. Even after a pitcher change. Jays are like, "Domo Arigato."
bases loaded and still 0 outs. Bottom of the 6th. Jays ahead 3-0
Spoke too soon. Shaw chases and struck out......... but...... Jays just scored three. Santiago Espinal with a line drive. And....... another one. 7-1 now
Blue Jays playing Yankees today.
Something special about watching games from Yankee Stadium. Fenway Park in Boston is my all time favourite. Dat lone red seat in right field bleachers............. damn, the history of that seat. The Green Monster and that "Pesky" foul pole.
Blue Jays up 1-0. Solo run by Guerrero Jr. top of 2nd with two out.
https://www.si.com/mlb/2014/07/25/ballpark-quirks-wrigley-field-chicago-cubs-brick-ivy
Wow, two mistakes by Jays outfielder, Fisher. Two horrible errors that screws up the entire inning. The first miss was one that anyone could have caught - dropped ball, then a miss altogether. Inning that should have been over turns into a 7 run inning. Classic example of the domino effect in baseball.
I haven't seen a balk in quite some time. Yamaguchi just got charged with one, advancing the Yankee runner to second.
Shun, not doing well. Interesting to see the meeting on the mound to see what's up with Shun Yamaguchi, who requires an interpreter. Damn......... 9 - 1 bottom on the 3rd, bases loaded, with no outs. Gotta pull the pitcher, but can't just yet. Three game series and it's not getting better......... Check that. It's now 12 - 1............ with no outs!!!
A game like this affects not only the standings (5th seed to 8th), but the rest of the games this season. Pitching rotation is fubarred. The pitchers in this game are throwing 40 - 50 pitches each. You have to save some pitchers for the upcoming games. Two more games vs Yankees coming up. Then Phillies for four games in three days afterward. No time to rest, because the next four games with the same Yankees at home.
Meanwhile, the Yankee's pitcher has it made. Their bull pen is more or less healthy. And, their batters are on fire. This will be the Yankee's sixth win in a row. How quickly things turn around. Yankees have now passed the Blue Jays in the standings.
Yikes!!
As long as the team doesn't give up as easily as Fisher did today, the team can still make some noise in the race for the playoffs.
Kyle Higashioka (east hill) hits a 2 run homer and Jays are behind 3-0.
And............. Here Come the Judge. Off the injury list............ Aaron Judge, NY Yankees outfielder.
While we is talkin' boot da "Judge," check out the first rapper in history, lol. Dude was born in 1904 !
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRS62nccwmw
And, Sammy Davis Jr...........

And lastly, The GTO Judge..................

Damn, this year's Jays are hotter than Lucifer's poker one day and colder than a witch's pussy (cat) another.
Jays are up against Tanaka (middle rice field) and those pesky, Yankee Doodle Dandy's.
Teoscar is back!
Merryweather started the game, but Chase Anderson was supposed to be the starter............ wait. Anderson just came in to start the second.
Anderson, WTF? He tried to pick off the runner at first and basically threw the ball away into the dirt. These guys get paid???
I still can't get over Derek Fisher's three screw ups.......... I think he just gave up on number two and number three......... yuk. Purposely threw the game?
https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/news/early-error-costly-in-blue-jays-loss-to-yankees
https://tipofthetower.com/2020/09/16/toronto-blue-jays-time-to-end-derek-fisher-experiment/
Bichette!! Youngster hits a single but makes a poor decision to go for a double. Jogs to first, then turns on the jets later. Tanaka the pitcher cut off the throw to home plate and threw Bichette out at second. A run scored, but now it's two out. The game is tied at two, but it could have been much more for the Jays. Young and inexperienced, this team is. Youth is wasted on the young. Prime example.
Damn, this Yankee team is on fire. Back to back to back solo home runs on three consecutive pitches!!! Their pitching is amazing and the batters are second to none. Men against boys in this game. There's really no scrawny boys on this team. Four home runs now............ all in one inning.
Put up the white flag!
First game Blue Jays lost 20 -6
Second game a 13-2 loss
This game 9-2 and it's only the 4th inning!!!!!!!!
There's no pitchers left............ Chase Anderson out of the game, Montoyo. Maybe not the pitchers fault. The Yankees are too powerful. They've been improving game by game since the Blue Jays beat them so many moons ago. Embarrassing. This series has taken the cockiness right out of the Blue Jays' young players.
Holy Hanna Montana............ Jays were down something like 10 - 3. It's now top of the 9th and they're only down 10 - 7. Relief pitcher just called into play for NY. 101 mph fast balls. Was 1 out. Now 2 out. Teoscar at plate with two runners on base. 2 outs, though. And............ no cigar.
Valiant effort. Too little too late. Swept in the Bronx.
Double header against the Phillies Friday starting at 1:05 pm, our time.
Double header against the Phillies today. Being a double header, they only play 7 innings each. Phillies aren't that tough a team. Certainly not like the NY Yankees. Already, the Jays are down 1-0. Ray is the starting pitcher for the Jays. The first game of the double header is a Jays' home game, go figure.
Listening to Buck Martinez and his side kick, it sounds like in the 4th inning when the Yankees hit three homers in three pitches, the Jays' pitcher was tipping the batters. The batters knew exactly what pitch was going to be thrown. Damn.........
I can't wait till home games in Buffalo. I love the History Mystery feature. The grounds crew puts up cardboard cutouts of three former Blue Jays players up in the stands. Way up in the stands and on their own (Three Amigos like). Spectators and Sportsnet announcers and crew are supposed to guess what the three players have in common. You really have to know your Blue Jays' history. That Hazel Mae knows her Jays.
LOL, Didi Gregorius at bat for the Phillies. With a name like that, how can you lose? Born in Amsterdam.......... damn.

Hey MG1. If the Blue Jays manage to hold on to wildcard spot for the playoffs, they need an answer in their pitching rotation to stop the Yankees.
The Bronx Bombers' bats were on fire during the last series against Toronto.
They set a Major League record with 19 HRs in their three game sweep against the Blue Jays. WutFace
As much as I do not like the Yankees, they look to be the team to beat in the American League.
Toronto has a snowball's chance in hell, but they're still my team. Honestly, they may not make it in this year. I respect the NY Yankees. Always have. Like the Red Baron, the enemy you just respect.
I like the youth of the Blue Jays. Cocky and talented. They're getting spanked - more like smacked around, but that's OK.
They are Canada's team. Inspired a whole whack of players from north of the 49th.
Good start to the second half of the double header.
Please don't make it 6 losses in a row.
Commentators hit the nail on the head. So many players nowadays pause to admire their hit, rather than running immediately after the hit. Plays where you could get that extra 90 feet. Like in drag racing, the first 60 makes or breaks your run.
Let the first base coach be your eyes.
What the hell? You only get one challenge in a game and Toronto’s dugout decides to challenge a call that doesn’t even involve a scoring opportunity. That wasn’t player error, it was coaching staff error. If that comes back to bite their ass, they have no right to chew a player’s ass fora bone headed decision. Damn.
Thank god for Blue Curve watch anywhere app. Charging the EV while watching the game, or is it, watching the game while charging the EV..............
NOT King Cole.............
Thanks to Covid, and because of it, with the Marlins team testing positive, the Jays had to play 27 games in 28 days. Must be tough on the young players. Still, no excuse. It looks like they will most likely make it into the playoffs via the wild card spot, but man, they are going to be spanked by just about every other team. Seattle could go on a tear and knock the Jays out the post season. Taiwan, I mean, Taijuan Walker the starter today.
Anyway, nooner about to start. GO, Jays, GO!!!!
Wow, Phillies starter is a noob. His first game in the majors. Just balked and let a run come in from 3rd. Top of the first with one out. Oh, just scored again. Single RBI by Gurriel Jr.
Can this be the turn around game?
LOL at Phanatic, the Phillies mascot. I think the Jays have a legit excuse to complain. The shtick with the huge bag of popcorn must have been distracting to the Jay's pitcher.
Then again, Phanatic does that kind of shit all the time at Phillies games, and gets away with it.
Okay, this noob pitcher is getting it done. 8 down. The Jays remind me of the 'Nucks.
Ouch! Teoscar makes an amazing catch at the wall, but smacks his foot on the concrete foundation. He's hurt, but like a good hockey player, he tells Montoyo and the trainer to go away. Damn, if that were a soccer player he'd be flapping around in pain screaming and whining.
Jesus not siding with the Blue Jays' crew chief. Was that a challenge or was that a request? Ball didn't look like it cleared the fence.
By Jesus, I'm talking about the umpire from the Dominican Republic Ramon De Jesus.
Good thing Teoscar stayed in, as he hit a two run homer just now. 6-1 for Jays! Top the 7th.
Anyone know what's with the two index fingers shake after certain players on the Jays' team get a base hit?
Is it a team thing or a Latino thing. Just saw Kirk do it.
Jays ahead 9-1 bottom of 5th.
Damn, when Alejandro Kirk first played for the Jays this past week, I thought, "Uh oh.... this guy is not going to make it." It was his first Major league game. Did alright, but his second game was a bit of a disaster. Today, he's on fire! Four hits, so far. The team loves this kid. He's very popular with the team and the fans. What's not to like about this team?
GO, Jays, GO!
11-2 bottom of the 7th.
After getting ass raped last night by the Yankees, the Jays bounce back. It's not over yet, but 7-1 lead in the bottom of the 6th.
Not sure which inning, but NY had bases loaded with no outs and the Jays pitcher at the time, got out of the inning with no runs scoring. In today's game, pitching is a pretty important factor. Pitch count, when they played last, the rotation, left hand vs right hand hitters, etc.
I don't think I have ever witnessed a catcher interference penalty in all the years I've watched baseball. Seen replays of them, but not in real time.
oh, 11-1 now with 1 out.
Go, Jays, GO!
14-1 win. Magic number is now down to 1.
Seattle has a night off Thursday. They did win today..
Danny Jansen, the Jay's catcher with 4 hits today. Alejandro Kirk, the noob, backup catcher got a 4 hit night two nights ago. Two catchers doing it for the Jays.
Tomorrow's starter is none other than Hyun-Jin Ryu.
Do South Korea proud!
Here's a bit of history on this pitcher.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyun-jin_Ryu
Speaking of baseball being played all over the world, here's an interesting fact.
Russia, lol. Really?
https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/heres-why-baseball-bats-are-much-more-popular-in-russia-than-baseball/
Just hope they know the label on the bat must face up or down when hitting the ...................... baseball?
Jays draw first blood - solo homer for Vladdy.........
Big boy can really swing it.
Yankees are such a strong team with lots of history. In its 106 seasons, they have 27 championships. Playoff percentage of 51.
Jays now have a 2-0 lead bottom of 3rd.
Two run double by backup catcher, Alejandro Kirk. He's in there as Designated Hitter, while Jensen is the catcher in today's game. Good move, 'cause both catchers are on fire. 4-0 now.
Hyun-Jin pitching well. Not sure what the pitch count is up to, but why do managers wait until something drastic happens? Mind you, three up three down, the pitch count is low. 7 innings, though?
EDIT: 88 pitches......... 99 is Ryu's highest so far this season. Nobody warming up. WTF?
Got it.... Buck Martinez just explained it. Two more hitters and it's top of the batting order for NY. Now they have someone warming up.
Damn, Here comes the Judge. BIG hitter pinch hitting for NY. Surprise!
Ryu survives. Flyballs. 7 innings with exactly 100 pitches and no runs. First time for a Blue Jays pitcher.
Get a few more runs and call in the closer, lol.
Damn......... Yankees with bases loaded thanks to the relief pitcher's (Anthony Bass) three walks. Dolice comes in and batter, Sanchez, hit the ball deep......... it looks like a grand slam to tie the game. Grichuk, the Jay's outfielder jumps up and catches it to end the inning. Sanchez was two inches from hitting a grand slam. It ain't over till it's over, but they dodged a missile. 3 more outs, ftw.
https://twitter.com/TomHanslin/status/1309304693164826630?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcam p%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet
Let's go Blue Jays............. Let's go Blue Jays........
It's over......... Jays are in!
In way over their heads and underdogs, for sure, but they've earned their way into the post season.
3 game series, so anything is possible.
Exchanging sweat shirts............. to, "Respect Toronto!"
So happy for Montoyo. Man, what a celebration. I don't think I've ever seen Hyun-Jin Ryu smile like that. Vladdy and his GoPro, lol.
Jays ahead 8-0 top of 4th against the Orioles. Yankees losing its game, so far. Jays may not have to play that "scarier than Yankees," Tampa Bay Rays in the post season.
Apparently, nothing scares the players on the Jays roster. Bring it on, is their attitude.
Jays were up 10-0 at one point, thanks to good performances by pitchers Taijuan Walker and Water Person. Pearson after pitching a set number of pitches was replaced by Yamaguchi, who was crappy tonight. Game ended in a 10-5 victory. Highlight in the game was when Shaw hit what looked like a home run. However, it ended up only to be a stand up double. I suppose it's possible, but the ball hit the top of the wall and bounced back onto the field. Defying the laws of physics - Bugs Bunny would say, "I never studied law." It was just a case of too much English, lol.
I rarely watch other baseball games, but decided to watch the Marlins vs Yankees game. Looked like the Marlins were going to win. It ain't over till it's over, 'cause the Yankees came back to tie it. Extra innings. Tied 3-3, the Marlins take the lead. NY with 4 errors in this game. Like WTF? A win for the Marlins and they're in the playoffs.
Bottom of the 10th, bases are loaded and the leagues number one hitter is up for NY with 1 out. Marlins turn a double play to end it. If the stars line up, Jays may not be playing the Tampa Bay Rays. Oh, Imma gonna watch the Halo's vs Dodgers game tomorrow. It's a good matchup. Cross town rivals.
Let's go Blue Jays, Let's Go...........Let's go Blue Jays, Let's GO!
Missed most of the game today. I get home, turn on the tele and saw the most amazing baseball play. Throw back to pitcher and Jay's runner, Villar steals third...... we're talking throw back from catcher to pitcher. It was a very close call, but you only see that kind of shit in little league.
Jays have the lead 5-2 at the top of the 9th. 2 out and no players on base. Nice!
Win!!!!
One game left in the season. Jays can finish 5th seed and second in their division if everything falls into place. I really can't see the Yankees dropping to 8th seed. What a season, though. The Jays at the beginning of the season didn't even know where they'd be playing. Because of Covid, Ontario did not give the go ahead to let the jays play in their home stadium. They made a home in Buffalo, NY. Grounds crew and management did everything in their power to try and make Sahlen Field their own. What a story.
WTH?
The Jays have Roark as starter in this afternoon's game. The guy has an ERA of 7! Top of the first inning and the bases are loaded with one out.
I get it that a three straight game series is coming up and you have to worry about the rotation, but can you not come up with better? LOL.
Addendum: Got away with stranding three runners on............ damn.
The Jays can, if NY Yankees lose their game today and the Jays win, get into second place and 5th overall seed. Possibility of playing four other teams in the playoffs. Teams the Jays have not played all that much against. They've played the Rays many times. Like commentator chick said the other day, "Better the Devil you know............."
Wow, snow cone catch to save a run by Jays outfielder, Jonathan Davis. It was definitely in fair territory and over the wall. How the heck do these guys do it? Most players would end up dropping the ball once their arm hits the wall.
Jays now ahead 1-0 in the top of 3rd. Davis had an RBI to bring home Gurriele Jr.
Let's go, Blue Jays, Let's GO!!
Buck Martinez saying Davis' catch might be catch of the year. So, I googled amazing catches by Jonathan Davis and man, that guy has some amazing catches caught on video.
He's one of 4 or 5 players that have come up through the ranks together - minor league and whatnot. Whenever the cameras pan over to the dugout, you know this team is so special. A really tight group. Young and always having fun. I found out what that celebration finger thing is when the players make a hit. It's a "Pew, pew, pew," thing, lol.
Guerrero Jr. Just hit a solo homer. And, Grichuk just hit a single. I guess Guerrero is DH today, 'cause Shaw is at first.
Update: Gurriel Jr. just hit a homer and the jays are now ahead 4-1. All of a sudden, this team is on fire. The 6 game losing streak is all but a forgotten memory.
Right off the bat, pun intended, I knew Roark was bad news. It's now 4-3. Roark walked two batters and they both made it around to home plate via a triple. Frick, it's now 4-4. Good news is, it's 2 outs with bases empty, top of 4th.
Trouble in Camelot. Orioles ahead 7-4.
Some questionable defensive plays by the Jays. Crappy performance by Roark and not stellar one by Yamaguchi, although he did pick off an attempted steal to second to end the inning.
Well, that's the season. Jays heading over to face the Rays. All away games. They're up against a bull pen full of pitchers that throw 95+ mph fastballs. Over the season the Jays have a record of 4 wins in 10 meetings. However, 4 of the losses were 1 run games. Two of which went into extra innings.
The best news of all, is that Sportsnet just got permission to broadcast the games. I love Buck Martinez and Hazel Mae.
Tropicana Field in St. Petersburgh it is. Go Blue Jays, GO!
Got home just in time to see the opening pitch and right off the bat, it's apparent, the Jays are in tough against a gargantuan bull pen. god help out the Jays, please.
Lol @ Blue Jays pitcher, Shoemaker....... one of those, "Don't you dare think about stealing a base from me, 'cause Imma gonna fuck you up right here and now," type of pitchers.
When he's on his game, he's pretty darn good. Hopefully he's fully recovered from his shoulder injury.
Everything hinges on this game. Lose and they go home.
Hyun-jin Ryu is today's starter. Do South Korea proud, son. Taiwan in as starter if game three tomorrow is a go.
If the Jays are eliminated, they can be proud of their accomplishments. Next year is going to be awesome.
Gurriel Jr. guns down Rays' runner. It was an easy single, but dude got greedy. Gurriel has a strong arm. Close it was, but nice play.
Go, Jays, GO!
That didn't take long........... Ryu not doing well. Two runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 out. Down 1-0. Bottom of 1st.
Shiite, bases loaded. Inning should have been over, but pretty boy, Bichette threw the ball high to first base. There's no room for error in games like this.
Update: Ryu strikes out batter to end inning.
Gaylen, stop showing those awful ads for the new PC card.......... Danielle Michaud is nice to look at, but seeing five ads in one break between innings is a little overkill. Annoying as fuck.
So much for Ryu. Down 3-0 No outs in the bottom of the 2nd. The Rays have him figured out. He'll probably get yanked at the end of the inning. Have to give next pitcher time to warm up.
Wow, Bo Bichette charged with another error. Dad, Jays' hitting coach, looking on and not showing any emotion. Not even a "Son, I'm disappoint," look, lol.
Well, season might end right here. It's now 7-0 7 runs in 8 hits. Watching him pitch, it was obvious he wasn't on his game. I wAnder when's the last time a pitcher pulled himself from the game. It's a pretty crucial game. If you aren't anywhere near 50%, you should set your ego aside and tell coach I'm not ready today. I guess that basically tells everybody, you're not a professional athlete?
