ok so what are you guys using now at your computers for both work and gaming?
i tried out this insanely uncomfortable gaming chair and hated it ..hated it...what's a good chair that provides good elbow/arm support, some sort of head support, lumbar would be good....?
avoid these damn things: (my neck and back gonna hurt like hell for weeks)

Steelcase Leap or Think, Herman Miller Embody or Aeron - there's no such thing as a "gaming" chair.
Keep an eye out on RFD for group buys, they happen from time to time.

Herman Miller should have a 15% off retail sale right now for a limited time.

it's happening right now until Nov 30. $1075 + tax for HM Embody or fully optioned out Aeron, but only in black/graphite
I personally have an Embody but won't hesitate to recommend a Steelcase Gesture (my second choice) as you can get one with a headrest.
The Gesture has the best adjustable arms in the business, bar none.

I'm using the leap v2 right now and the only thing I would say is the base could use more foam, other wise its perfect. I tried the Aeron and felt that my lower thigh area had a lot of pressure when sitting on it.

For not much more, I'd get the Gesture over the Leap.

From what I can tell gaming chairs are just low end chairs with fancy colours and inflated prices. I've used the Steelcase Leap at work for the last 10 years and it's very comfortable. It still looks brand new too which is pretty nice.

We were going to buy a steel case chair but an office within my wife’s building was closing and they were selling everything
We ended up getting what looks like a steel case knock off but it’s made by posturpedic
Not sure what it costs initially but we paid $120 and it’s been fantastic compared to the typical executive office chair we had before from Costco

IKEA MARKUS ..surprisingly decent comfort and ergonomics for such a low price.

Yeah... office chair is among those things that you buy cheap, you buy many.
I have a Teknion Contessa and Humanscale Freedom, them over HM because of headrests.
I used to spend a good share of my waking hours on my office chair. So, it's one of the first things I splurge on since I started making my own money.
Both of them are 10+ years old now. Went with me West to East and back. Other than coasters that had to be replaced, 0 problems.

It's ok. We'll have to see how many chairs Acura604 goes through like he does with his wheels and Acuras.

I bought the ErgoChair 2 beginning of Covid. Paid $400 tax in shipped to my door.
Don't think I'll ever go back buying cheap $100 Staple chairs. It's fine if you use it for "short" periods of time; however, if your like me sitting 8-10 hours a day working at the desk daily, ideally it's better to get something good for your posture and back. Once your body is fucked, no matter how much money in the world you saved buy using a cheap chair will fix your health.

Any thoughts on the MyoChair with headrest/footrest?
https://www.autonomous.ai/office-chairs/ergonomic-computer-chair?option1572=1943&option1573=1945
For BF it was $249.99 and you can apply a 10% off code and play the Clappy Rex game for additional $ off.
Considering getting this for boxing day if the price will be similar.

I was looking into the MyoChair recently and some reviews said that the seat cushion was super uncomfortable. But I don't know if that is just a "larger person" issue.
I wish my boss would spring for some better chairs in our office. I am sitting in a 10-year old Staples chair and it isn't doing my any favours. He is literally the cheapest person when it comes to office supplies - good luck to getting a better chair unless I buy it myself :(

assuming best/only place to buy the ergochair 2 from autonomous website?
as of right now it's $432cdn total tax/shipping in on their website (w/ 10% off coupon code).
also, how does it compare to the steelcase leap or herman miller comparables? or the 'new' Autonomous Kinn Chair for that matter?

if you're going to be spending $400+ on chair, might as well spend a little bit more and get these "open box" Steelcase Leap v2. Maybe a bunch of you guys can get together and get it for cheaper.
https://vancouver.craigslist.org/van/fuo/d/richmond-brand-new-steelcase-leap-v2/7237960653.html
Note that these come with 12 month warranty, instead of 12 years. To get 12 year warranty on the leap, it would cost just under $900 + tax ($1308 retail) from an authorized Steelcase dealer.
12 month warranty would be same that you will be getting at staples/autonomous anyways, and spare parts are available to be purchased on the steelcase

I believe its 1075 plus tax for pick up. Additonal 50 to 75 for delivery. Its also supposed to be a group buy so not sure how that works if they don't hit the required amount.
I'm still reading through the thread, but people seem to be receiving their orders. Have till late Jan to decide, but the price seems really good for a piece you can keep long term. Only drawback is no color choice, but for the price I can look past that.

What are your thoughts on a herman milller chair?
I heard they are pricy but very ergonomic and good for your spine.
I'm going into a desk job soon so it might be worth one.

I have the Embody at work. It's super comfortable but not in the traditionally plushy lazy boy no support way. Its made of a mesh/rubber which feels kinda bouncy and light. The chair itself is super heavy and sturdy tho. I enjoy the lumbar support that it has especially post accident

Other than the colour and tags, just a little bit of foam on the seat and middle back (spine) area.
Not worth the extra $800+ that I paid for my Embody IMHO
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7YB-5dKKX4&t=1s
Other note: RFD group buy for HM is currently over, but looks like someone is organizing one for the Leap V2 I posted earlier and there's already 5+ people for the $600+tax price

What are your thoughts on kneeling chairs?
They don't have any upper back/neck support, so you can't really lean back like you would a normal chair. However, it looks like it can really offload the hips so you don't put pressure on your ass all the time.

We have a couple of the kneeling chairs in the office. Interested people will try it for a day or 2, and then go back to their regular chairs. The usual complaint is that it hurts their knees.

Interesting. It might still be worth it to be able to switch back and forth from it and a regular chair. Hips get sore? Switch to kneeling chair. Knees get sore? Switch to regular.

Costco had some solid deals (long time ago)
Ikea (higher end ones were good)
any other suggestions? Not looking for amazon to only buying the lift and desk separately.

I bought a desk from flexispot with duel monitors and ending up buying the Idasen tabletop from Ikea.
Flexispot EQ3 (https://www.flexispot.ca/height-adjustable-desks/frame-only/electric-height-adjustable-desk-frame-eq3)
I really like this desk as it is duel motor and is quite quiet. I needed something with duel motors as I have two 30" monitors and I worry a single motor won't be powerful enough if I wanted to get a bigger, solid wood tabletop. The Idasen I got was 140" x 75", which was plenty for now. I did get a mounting plate on my desk before I did a triple monitor mount (just in case the ikea honeycomb tabletop couldn't support the mount), the only thing I'm missing right now is a server cable raceway big enough for me to have all the cables hidden for my setup. I think the total setup for the mount, desk and tabletop was about $720 all together and I'm pretty damn happy about it.
desk setup (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dIQIeI5GttakFZotOka3BJKEwCFfVnxy/view?usp=sharing)
Also for chairs, I'm eyeing the Staples Hyken. From what I've read that it does perform similarly to the Aeron if you're a smaller lighter guy. Alternatively, if you're a bigger guy, the Secret Labs Titan is pretty good. Don't get the Omega chair. It doesn't have good back support and the seat has that stupid race car bucket that really keeps you from moving much. The Titan is wider and less like a bucket seat so you can move a bit more and actually had back support.

I bought mine from Effydesk which is local. They have the home office and professional version. I found the home office one too wobbly when raised up at 42.5" and swapped for the pro version which has worked well. The table top is kinda ugly (I got the white oak) but the general build quality is just fine for a home desk.
I found a 15% off discount code on CL for them and was able to get the desk in 2 business days.
The Ikea ones are fairly trashy - the motors are really weak and tend to fail early. If you don't plan on going up and down much then that might be fine.

When I was looking for Office chairs back in 2020, I received a quote for $955 for a Gesture w/ soft (hardwood) casters here:
https://www.heritageoffice.com/request-a-quote/
They have a showroom where you can try all the chairs in Marpole close to the Milltown pub.
For a leap v2, it was $869 + tax. Prices have probably gone up due to inflation, but I remember it being quite a bit cheaper than the official online price on store.Steelcase.com by basically being the same (or slightly lower) as their USD pricing, but in CAD.
