I'm surprised that a major motorsport event is actually taking place in Vancouver but I ain't complaining. Ever since Indy left, don't think there has been anything motorsports related happening around Vancouver.
Did anyone else grab tickets and which tickets? GS 11 here.

The track layout kinnda sucks. I guess they don't make extension cords long enough yet.

Got some GA tickets for Saturday. Since its the first year, I just want to see what the racing is all about in person. Didn't see anything on the Friday that made me want to buy a two day pass. Looking forward to it.
Got a 2 day pass In grandstand 2A.

no point getting GS if there’s no reviews

Bought GA Saturday. Prices were a little much for where I wanted to be given the unknown
Man really want to do F1 in Montreal next year though..

Looking forward to it! Can't say that I'm a big Formula E fan, but it's motorsports in Vancouver so I'll certainly give it a try.

I haven’t gotten tickets yet. Formula-E is a very exciting series with good racing, but the track layout leaves a lot to be desired. Granted I saw it’s “temporary” so I assume next year with more time to plan it will be adjusted.
My wife didn’t want to go and my son would only be 2, don’t think he’d be willing to do GS for a weekend. Plus I got parts to buy so I didn’t get tickets yet

For anyone interested they occasionally broadcast the races on TSN

I'm going as well. Grandstand 2C row 30-something.
I've been to f1 in Montreal and of course molson indy many years ago I always bought general admission. This will be my first time being up in a grandstand with proper sightlines.
There was one year I had a friend who worked for the Canucks and so we watched the race from an empty corporate boardroom inside Rogers Arena. That was fun.
Never watched a formula E race in my life but as a life long racing fan, it was hard to stay away from this. There's no guarantees it will be back after 2022 (eg. Montreal's formula e debacle).

I've been a F1 fan for years, went to Montreal in 2012. My gearhead uncle took me to the first Molson in 1990, which is probably what got me into car racing.
My dad, on the other hand, a big fan of soccer (plays, refs, has Whitecaps seasons tickets, gets up at 5:00am to watch to watch english premier league) never really could give less of a shit about car racing.
This past weekend he was visiting and out of nowhere was like "Formula E is coming to Vancouver! We should get tickets!"
I didn't have the heart to tell him that I really don't give a shit about Formula E.

I really don't care about formula E, but as an event, this is going to be a ton of fun. It's just nice that something is actually happening in Vancouver other than a fucking marathon.

Yeah you're right, if I still lived on that side of the pond I'd probably go just for something to do.

Just got charged back, they have 7 days to respond. Credit card issuers seems to not want to refund $630 tickets lol.

I just submitted a chargeback. I should receive my refund in 5 days if they don't reply otherwise the claim could take up to 8 weeks. FailFish

So you guys are going to the CC company and requesting a refund basically? I wouldn’t mind my $27 back. Lol.

It feels like that OSS group was a scam all along. If you google them, there isn't any clear history of event management.

Has anyone successfully won a dispute with their CC?
It took me a couple weeks but RBC has finally moved my request to "In Dispute" meaning I received a temporary refund while the merchant has a chance to reply.

Called my CC in June and it's still pending. The person on the other end has been updating me weekly which is nice.

Reddit thread. Looks like oss is trying to deny refunds saying it's "postponed" In response to some disputes.
https://www.reddit.com/r/vancouver/comments/wl502o/canadian_efest_formula_e_vancouver_cancelled_no/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Called in to get the process started, rep on the phone understands that lots of people were calling in and advised me to have the best base.
1) Start a paper trail that you have requested the refund
2) State you want a refund because you know the event won't happen, link articles alluding to this fact and that Formula E has ended ties with the OSS group
3) CoV has issued them funds to process refunds https://vancouver.ca/news-calendar/city-update-on-formula-e.aspx
3) Then start your chargeback dispute so they have a stronger case

I was actually able to get a refund from OSS after sending them an email everyday requesting for a refund as AMEX denied my chargeback. YMMV

I actually wouldn't recommend telling your CC that City of Vancouver has issued funds to process refunds. That will give the CC an excuse to tell you to just wait for your refund. I am not convinced yet the general public will get a dime of that money, instead it will go to other creditors.
I agree however that you need to demonstrate to the CC that you've contacted OSS with no success after at least 30 days, and that the event is CANCELLED and not postponed or delayed.

OSS looking shadier by the day.
Vancouver Formula E refund progress stalled as organizer rejects city funds
https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/vancouver-formula-e-refund
The conditions were that the money had to be used by the company to pay its financial obligations associated with the cancelled event, such as refunding ticket holders, suppliers, and/or event sponsors.
It now appears that the OSS Group has rejected the money, according to the City of Vancouver.
The City offered a statement to Daily Hive about the development, saying that it’s disappointed in the OSS Group’s decision.
“OSS has rejected the City’s conditions for release of the performance security, specifically the requirement to jointly retain a lawyer to facilitate distribution of the $500,000"
