Rofl.
Rewind time 10-15 years, I was still in school making no money, but RE was much cheaper. Fast-forward to today, finally have some money, but RE has went through the roof. I bought that car 16 years ago, and worked on it bit by bit; it's worth much less than you think.
As the boomers die, I think classic car prices will hit rock bottom, so there really is not future payout for me there.
1) This gen that's growing up didn't grow up with these cars, there is no nostalgia
2) No one can afford a house, let alone a garage to store these things
3) Anyone that knows how to work on them will die off in the next 20-30 years
4) Kids in general are not as interested in cars anymore
5) Wages have not kept up with COL, no one is going to be able to afford to have a huge hunk of metal as a toy
Wish I didn't have such an expensive interest, why couldn't it be collecting stamps or something?
Thanks for coming to my TED TALK.

Yeah, but according to Tofu’s encounter at Le Ferrari, BMW’s are trash :troll:, so it’s nothing to be jelly or dream about.

Edit: but this is why vancouver sucks so much. It really fucks with your mental health as there is so much god damn money flowing around here while most vancourties are just trying to get by.
When i was in germany, there was the occasional fancy car, but the germans dont really give a hoot. They much rather take their money and their 30+ days of federal/state holidays and go have a good time drinking/traveling/screwing legal prostitutes/etc. Everyone in north america seems to be working themselves to death trying to chase this idea of a good life exemplified by these dumb ass kids who's only cars are ferrari's and lambos.
I highly doubt these kids are any happier than you... they seem just as miserable and aimless as the rest of us. Once you have the top of the top, then what? there's always some schmuck who's going to pull up with a Pista next to your 458 and laugh at your peasant ass. Even their stick girlfriends all seem to be a bunch of materialistic cunts who are engaged in this never ending battle of who's richer, who's whiter, who's skinnier. FUCK IT
Take a "troll" day and just focus on yourself. dont worry about other people, fuck'em.

Spanish banks c&c last weekend, the road down to the beach is closed, but also the upper road is closed too so you have to detour through the neighbourhood.
I’m born and raised in Richmond, i was brought up around all the…. Affluent money? Not sure how to describe it but you know what I mean. It was almost refreshing to drive through those UBC neighbourhoods of $20m homes, but all they have in the driveway are 3 Lexus/Toyota and maybe a Subaru.
That right there is money vs wealth
I have neither

I have friends living in Wheatfuck Saskatchewan getting excited when they see a Tesla, never mind a Porsche. Over here, it's like every 5th vehicle waiting at a red light.
Same exotics are parked outside presale events & Value Villages alike
I still remember when Vancouver was a seedy port town. Ooozed character at least. Now everything is so clinical and sterile. Thank God the food is still good here.
Other than the cars I own (which all take premium), I've given up on cars entirely.

lol, people will always feel poor and chase the next toy they can't afford.
Back in the day, the STI was my "realistic" dream car but I just can't make ends meet to justify buying a car at that price. Yet that's considered a "cheap" car that a 20-30 year old can buy for some people. lol.
I have other priorities, but I guess if I just eat cup noodles for meals, maybe I can swing it. But I'm not sure if that's what everyone else is doing or they just have a lot more money.

This.
Giving up tracking cars starting this year.
Focusing soley on tracking bikes for the next few years.
Do it while you're still young.
Cars can wait.
Why chase that ever inflating 80+k car, when you can just get a 600 supersport for under 10k, and use the 70K on other investments?
That 911 will still be there when you're 50 or 60.
Or just wait it out and grab it on a dip.

Bikes are fun and are whatever you make of it on the street, you can choose to push it or just enjoy the freedom and occasional burst of speed...
Tracking bikes gets very not fun very fast... basically zero fun if you make ANY mistake which is bound to happen if you're always pushing it. This is not true of tracking cars.

This is so true, Vancouver is such a mystery for me.
You going around and everyone seems like they're balling, this forum is an example of that.
Try posting something for free on FB marketplace though.
I recently posted an older couch that we need to get rid of from my mom's place as she's moving into a retirement home, posted the couch for free, pickup only, I literally received 40+ messages in 4-5 hours.
My gf will sometimes post things like a cheap ass plastic strainer for free and she'll get people willing to take a bus and commute from places like Maple Ridge on a rainy winter night to come get it.
This city is a mystery to me.

There's a lot of ppl who have very little financial sense around.
A very good example of this that everyone here should understand. Some one posts Shell 94 for the price of 87 at Canada Way and Willlingdon. I'm at Victoria and Marine, is it really worth it for me to go save $10 on cheap 94? It'll take me 20mins to get there and back, and the gas involved. Ultimately money wise it's only a few bucks saved but my time is worth more than that.
Wife would find things actually on FB Marketplace and I would tell her it's not worth it for me to go get it. We are short on time dealing with a kid at home already AND I need to spend $5 in gas to get something I can have shipped and new.

It blows my mind when people used to rush out for a drive to the Kingsway Chevron by DQ because people would post on IG that the prices were 6 cents lower than stations around it.
You'd drive by on the way home and see a 30+ Min line-up to save 6 cents * 55L tanks = $3.30 saved.

This. I’ve ridden motorcycles quite a bit through my life, love Motorsport etc. and would love a Harley. However at this point I’ve got too much life left to risk a motorcycle lol.
A friend of mine has a BIG Harley, and ecen just driving behind him on the highway has me shit scared watching people not see him etc. the risk isn’t worth the reward imo.
It’s kind of like how all rich guys want to get their pilots licence. Unless it’s an actual passion the risk to do somthing somewhat frivolous isn’t worth dieing or becoming seriously injured to the point where you can no longer enjoy what you already had lol

It's definitely worth it if they come pick it up. Anything I post for free is pickup only, so for a big ass heavy couch it was totally worth it.
Saves me the effort of renting a truck and taking it to the dump or calling some junk guys, plus some young students get a fairly decent couch for free.
Win win.
