2023 Blue Jays
Now, rest Gausman and everybody else.
Make that Trevor Richards pitch all 9 innings tomorrow. Until his arm drops off.............
Actually, home field advantage? This is so complicated.
Shi Dividi a little calmer now...............
I think it was him that was criticizing the decision to have whatshisnuts pitch two innings in the end.
Now that the Jays are in, it comes down to who and where.
Tropicana Field aka Little Trop of Horrors, hasn't been kind to the Jays, but a lot of their players live in that area. Buck included. Dunedin, the training grounds, is also nearby.
Target Field in Minnesota looks like a nice place. I'm pretty sure it, being closer to Canada, would mean more Jays fans. Haven't been following the Twins all that much. Maybe they're a better opponent to face?
In any case, starting lineup will most likely be Gausman, Berrios, and Assbitt........... in no particular order. If they do squeak by whoever they play, that means Kim Chi and Wasabi are up next? Hmmmmmm............... Too bad Manoah isn't in the picture. Or is he?????
I have this strange feeling Davis Schneider and the noobs from the Bisons might make a huge difference in the post season.
You know what's worse than being a Jays' fan? A Mariners fan.......... brutal. Loss like that at home to oust them from the post season. Couldn't have happened to a nicer team. :troll: wouldn't be saying that 14 hours ago. thank you baseball gods.
Damn, totally forgot about Jay Jackson. I love that guy. Wes Parson is today's starter. Announcement made prior to the game.
It's awesome that all games are now starting at the same time. In game trackers, ftmfw!
As a side note. Alek Manoah is no more. He's done. Sad............ will only see him on Mary Brown's commercials, lol.
Damn........... Parsons having a bad start. He's in there to get some innings in, to save the bull pen. Now he makes a poor play. Should have tagged the runner out at home plate. Potential for 6 or more runs and it's only the second inning. He's in there for a few more innings no matter what. Not looking good at all for the Jays. Loaded bases with no outs and 4-0 score.
Did I say 6 or more runs? It's now 8-0. Grand slam by the Rays. Good news is, there's nobody on the bases, lol.
Keep Parsons in there. Might as well. after 11-0 Jays can put a position player in to pitch, lol. There's no way the Jays can bring in 9 runs. 7 innings left, but it looks like this game is a loss. Lose this and they will play the Twins, which is for the better.
LOL, Jays just scored 3 runs. 8-3 at bottom of second inning. Lopez, pitcher for Tampa is like, "Okay, I can do better than Parsons."
Cam Eden gets his first MLB hit.

MG1 is like Skinny in the NFL thread ...
Yup............ no shame. Don't give two shits about what others say.
10-3.
No Guerrero, Chapman, Springer, KK, Kirk.......... looks like they never intended to win this game. I'm hoping for first round with Twins.
Intend to watch this game till the bitter end. Might be the last home game this season.
Go, Jays, GO!!!!!!
It's official. Jays go to Minnesota.
Everybody on a high.................. in all honestly, I don't think they deserved going into the post season. Clean slate. Maybe they'll get their collective shit together.
Poor Hazel, having to come up with something meaningful to say.
Also, so glad to see all Jays games will be on Sportsnet with Buck and Hazel.

The Jays making the post season relied heavily on Seattle and Texas having very mediocre September records. With the wild card being best of 3 it's basically a crapshoot in baseball so the Jays have a chance of advancing if they manage to pitch and hit a couple of games.
Beyond the wildcard I don't have much faith this roster has what it takes I think the bats go silent.

Why would anyone have any hopes for the Jays after they just squeeked in with the help of Texas and Seattle?
Do you have short memories from last year? Out in 2!
Because we're fans...................... through thick and thin.
Win or lose. Doesn't matter.
Keeping the faith........... however blind it seems.

You sound like a Leafs fan!
BUT ... at least the Jays have won a championship within the last 50+ years.

Was a Canucks fan for 60 years.............. till I saw the light. Still a Leafs fan, though.
Game one of the Wild Card Series will start at 1:38 pm from Target Field. All three games (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) will start at that time.

Hate those early start times it'll probably be in the 7th inning by the time I get home from work
Sportsnet broadcasters addressed this by saying it has to do with marketing. The good news is, they’re allowing Sportsnet to carry the Blue Jays’ games because of this………. I wasn’t really paying too much attention at the time. They did mention it wasn’t a diss against the Blue Jays and the fact the team is Canadian. Sounded fishy to me. Butt, if it means great coverage and people we’ve come to enjoy watching, I’m more than okay with that.

Was a Canucks fan for 60 years..............
doing some math here. hmmmm
You know Canucks used to be in the WHL and Pacific Coast League before joining the NHL, right? CKNW. After the games, listening to Jack Cullen Owl Prowl, then the really cool stuff late night……….. only the shadow knows……….. something like that. Good ol’ days.
Orland Kurtenbach. <sp?>
Westminster Bruins, ftmfw! Ernie Punch McLean, tee hee.
Actually, before the Canucks joined the NHL, they were an awesome team.
Game Day!!!!
Blue Jays vs the Twinkies............
Target Field is known for the shadows. Also, it's very windy today in Minny.
I am cautiously optimistic.............
Twinkies have lost 18 post season games in a row. Vladdy and Bichette has never won a post season game.
Gausman has a shitty time against the twinkies. Some say they know ahead of time, what he's going to throw................ Astros, anyone?
Gausman walked a batter and then gave up a home run. Twinkies ahead 2-0 with one out in the bottom of the 1st. Wind is a big factor as anything hit up high will carry out of the park.
Gausman, oh Gausman........................ he shouldn't have cut his hair............ Sampson and Delilah, gulolol.
It's no longer how many strike outs Gausman has, it's how many walks he gives up. With shitty job of locating the plate, he might hit a batter.
3 game series, time to pull him while the lead is manageable.
They have Gausman figured out.

all of a sudden, dead silence on this thread !
all of a sudden, dead silence on this thread !
This thread has been quiet most of the time.
I always blame the pitchers. Gausman pitching was a bad choice. The Twinkies have him figured out.
BTW, Captain Obvious....................... you're just being a dick, yeah?
Gotta hand it to Gausman. In the interview, he admitted it was not his best game. He went on to say, they had him figured out. That he is basically a two pitch pitcher. He knew what they were doing, but couldn't adjust. He did make adjustments, in the 4th, but by that time it was too late. They say pitching wins series. I don't think the Jays have the pitchers to win games. Yes, hitting would help, but when your team is up against good pitchers time and time again, your pitchers have to do their share.
That Bo Bichette............ it's been said before. That decision to head for home. Yikes!
As Bongo Boy, Montoyo, would say, it's water under the bridge.
No time to find blame, just go out there tomorrow and give it your all.
Let's go Blue Jays!

The pitchers did their job holding it to 3 runs, you ain't winning nothing in the post season putting up one run.
I don't even think we did horrible if Chapman's hit went out it was a different ball game.
This game is totally winnable. Starting pitcher for Twinkies hasn't been doing well.
Just hope Berrios doesn't shit the bed like he's done in the past.
I can see it now. Berrios........... two walks a hit batter and they hit a grand slam.......... how's that for optimism, gulolol.
Prove me wong, Berrios. Prove me wrong..............
LOL, dirt on the ball.............. like wow!
Ball rolled foul. If it hadn't caught the edge of the turf at the very end, it would have been a fair ball.
Kikuchi warming up, 'cause Twinkies have 5 lefties in the line up.
Kirk with a base hit........... Mexican Lucky.
Springer, stop swinging at the first pitch. They know you're going to swing at it.......... sheesh
1-0 for Twinkies, bases loaded and no out............... no wasabi for Kikuchi. Move, IMHO was made a little too early.
The manager for the Twinkies is no dummy. Dude holds all the cards.
2-0 now with 2 outs.
LOL, Hazel looks a little dejected..............

What the heck is Schneider doing?
Berrios was pitching well. -only threw 47 pitches. 32 strikes.
He takes out a Berrios while he was pitching well in order to put in Kikuchi?
Brilliant move, Schneider. Just brilliant.
Twins score a run on Kikuchi.
Blue Jays fans will have Schneider's head for just a bone head decision.
Toronto's president needs to fire this idiot!
My opinion of Berrios has changed. What a good team mate. Getting replaced was a poor decision by management. Not because Kikuchi shit the bed, but because Berrios was actually pitching really, really well. Who gives a rat's ass about lefties and righties. A pitcher who's doing well should never be replaced. Pitch count was low, too.
Not looking great for the Jays. If they are eliminated, I'm sorely going to miss watching them. Win or lose, they are a great organization.
Team isn't helping themselves out today. Gotta pray to the Baseball Gods. Sacrifice some RS virgins.
Wow................ the little kid, Guerrero just killed the inning. Call the Coast Guard........... stranded runners!
Twinkies are so well prepared. They deserve to advance. Jays are just unraveling.
Bases loaded and one out....................
Coast Guard might as well stay out there. Rescue all those stranded players.
Not meant to be this season. Nothing going right.
Silver Lining........ gonna finally get work done around the house, garden, and car maintenance.
Jays' biggest mistake. Relying on analytics in a playoff situation.

Lol Jesus Christ..
Imagine popping bottles with fucking ski goggles on after you squeak into a wild card game and you can’t get 2 runs lolol
The Canucks duck sure, but the jays are a joke lol fucking hell
Good win for Twinkies. Now go win the World Series.
There's always next year for the Jays.
Lol Jesus Christ..

I never understood that. It's worse than touching the division or conference championship cup. Bad luck. Cocky little shits got what they deserved, was what I thought when I saw that.
Minny's management used analytics the right way. Look for ways to fuck up your opponent.

If the Canucks did that and for swept In a play-in series people would throw rocks through the windows at rogers arena lol
My buddy who lives in Toronto and is a jays fan was even like fuckkk.. at least pretend you’ve been there. It’s not like they pulled some miracle in getting in either, it was dependant on other teams losing
Vladdy needs to look hard into the mirror. Same with Bichette.
Davis Schneider.............. I so wanted to see him get in there somehow. Might as well, if the rest of the lineup is not getting it done.
Not cool. I should know better.
Apologies, RS..
Texas blew away Tampa. Vladdy and company didn't learn anything from the last few years.
No baseball for me till next year., lol.
Minnesota Twins deserved the wins. Plain and simple. Better team.

Why you set yourself up for this massive fail by the Jays, MG1? Don't give a team your fandom till they earn it = some success in the playoffs in the last 5 yrs. Now don't fall for the same shit next year.
Please, whatever happens leave John Schneider in the manager position. Get rid of players, but leave that guy alone. Can't blame any of this on him. Listening to his interview is heartbreaking.
My bad for letting the Blue Jays' loss get to me.
No need to react negatively to others.

I’m not a fan but I watch all the highlights and listen to what’s now become blues jays radio in Am650
Outside of the bottle popping this morning they were saying they hadn’t come back from a 3 run deficit since June or somthing crazy like that which doesn’t make much sense when you seemingly have an OK offence, so something’s gotta change
Twins pitching staff seems pretty crazy though dunno how you can hit a perfect 102-103 mile an hour fast ball let alone some of these 100+ mph pitches on the edge of the box

Fucking baseball man.
What if Schneider and co. didn't think they were Brad Pitt in Moneyball making decisions before the game even started and pulled a pitcher that was clearly throwing a gem.
What if Vladdy decided to make sure the second baseman wasn't picking him off when our best hitter had a full count.
What if Chapmans hit with the bases loaded was another foot to the right.
What if the Jays COULD PUT UP ANY KIND OF OFFENSE IN THE COURSE OF TWO PLAYOFF GAMES. Sorry.
I hope they make some moves this offseason. The pitching is fine but we need players that can put up some runs it's embarrassing how many times they got shut out this season.

this loss (and yesterday and all season really) have nothing to do w pitching, or really game management
ownership and management put together a great pitching staff this year - nobody considered that this all-star squad wouldn't be able to score.
of course the media is incredulous about management about pulling Berrios - it was irrelevent to the outcome of this game.
offense was terrible and should carry 100% of the blame
Go D'Backs now
Don't really care who wins in tonight's ALCS game 7, but I'm rooting for Marcus Semien and the Rangers.
Houston has enough hardware. Let the Rangers have a chance at the big prize.
MarkyMark

Anyone but Houston.
What a shitty left field wall they have in Houston it falls apart when the ball hits it and you have no idea how it's going to bounce off it.
8-2 for Texas and it's only the 4th inning.
Adolis Garcia is on fiyah............ 3 for 3, driven in 4.
Well deserved win!
Adolis Garcia bringing in 20 runs.................. unbelievable.
So glad Blue Jays didn't make it this far. They would have been annihilated to the point of no return.
Diamond Backs. They need to win tomorrow. The little team that could.
Don't know what it is with Hazel Mae, but she's great. Not particularly pretty or beautiful, but something about her..................
Anyway, World Series game one tonight. Two ex Blue Jays making a big difference. Why we traded Gabriel Moreno is very confusing. He was showing great potential and Pineapple............ why? The guy was gold.
Moreno > Kirk.
Marcu Semien for Texas.
Two wild card teams that barely squeeked in are playing for the coveted cup. Not picking any sides as both these teams are amazing and deserve to be at the World Series.
Typical Texas.............. State flag along side the star mangled banner. Did Stevie Wander get a sex change (Anthem singer)?
Congratulations Marcus Semien and the Texas Rangers. First World Series Championship in franchise history.
