: Instgram liquid wrap business @swayzesautocustoms ghosting me after a shit job

Hilarious I'm even posting this over the dumbest/cheapest ricer mod ive ever done to my car (no shame) with some backyard page i found on IG.

Found this page on IG @swayzesautocustoms located in Vancouver that was advertising liquid wrap, vinyl wrap, ppf, ceramic coating services etc.
Some mutual followers, Over 2000 general followers & hundreds of car posts that they've worked on (Most of the cars being $60-80g+ cars including some M Cars, AMG gt's, Taycan's, E63's etc etc.)
By the photos and higher end nature of cars that used their service, the service looked OK. I wanted to get my hatch emblems and exhaust tips liquid wrapped in gloss black so i made an appointment to get it done.

Upon arriving to their "shop" i already had an iffy vibe. two kids in their early 20's, hacking darts, in their parents garage ready to tackle the car. Hey dont judge a book by its cover tho right? i used to be a hustler in my 20's too!
The main guy that appears to be the owner seemed nice, was a car guy himself. We chat for a bit, he then asks me to come back in 40 mins to pickup the car.

I walked over to the nearest coffee shop, worked for a bit, came back to get the car - The tips were half assed and rushed, quite obviously unpainted areas that are literally visible and bad paint runs - I point out the blemish to him, he apologizes and tells me to come back on Saturday and he will get them re done for me. Up to this was great, mistakes happen. Im not expecting 100% on a cheap job where parts are painted while still on the car with some masking - But trust me, this was BAD - But i was happy with him offering to redo the tips.

Now saturday, just completely ghosting, doesnt respond to my texts at all, doesnt respond to my instagram DM but still posting their work "stories" and daily updates LOL. It was a fucking $80 shit job so i dont care too much, ill just bring it to someone else or ill man up and DIY it. Also im not blaming anyone but MYSELF that i used these backyard vinyl wrappers with no legitimate google business page in the first page.

Im guessing they have the audacity to ignore me since there's no real source to leave a public review for them? I can only imagine there has to be loads of pissed off customers that spent decent amount on full wraps that were half assed and left with no response? Most of these cars being higher end, i cant imagine half of these people being okay with a subpar shitty job.

Back to my point - Wether its a $80 job or a $1000 job, these guys need to know there are consequences running a business touching other peoples properties and being shady at the same time. I will continue to post this on Reddit and other local car pages as much as i can. Screw these guys.

Ugh that looks pretty damn bad man. Also aren’t you afraid that the vinyl will be next to impossible to take off due to the heat of the exhaust ?

im not planning to remove them. Its gonna stay black as far as the car is under my ownership. Just wasnt expecting half painted tips lol

Fuck these guys. I wonder how they can do a normal wrap job if they can’t even do simple exhaust tips. Shit these would be the dudes who takes razor blades straight to your paint to “cut” the vinyl.

Yeah, just reading that infuriates me.

I don't blame you. Whether it's $80 or $300, people should be better than this.

If I were you, I'd just roll up, knock on their door and talk to their parents, lol.

I just work in a normal mechanical repair shop. $80 would equal product and probably 12-18 minutes work. I'd think for a good job I'm dropping that exhaust, cleaning it completely and then coating it, replacing gaskets and reinstalling. Minimum $500?

Was there some level of expectations for an $80 job? Who really gets down on all 4s to inspect your tips, I think you got your moneys worth.

Missing my point. I already admitted i wasnt expecting anything for $80. I more or so went there EXPECTING a DIY job. Just wasnt expecting them to half paint my tips where myself or litereally anyone could have done it better. The spots they missed are not even out of reach or hard to get to.

And, yes as ashamed to say it, i did pay someone to dip my exhauast tips. I would have laughed at myself 10 years ago for doing this. but as you age, you just dont have time to do anything anymore especially car related stuff. I used to change my diff, coolant flush, axles all in my parents garage on my s2000 when i was 23 lol. I just value my time more as i age. I figured instead of fiddling around myself for a few hrs diy'ing id just go quick in and out by someone whoes more experienced doing this as full time.

Im more or so pissed off at how they handled the situation. They keep doing their ghosting game, theyre eventually gonna piss off the wrong guy.

I see how you think. I literally charge people to look at their car and figure out a solution before doing any actual work. And it's 2023 where everything costs a fortune. How I explain it to customers, you can call a cab ride around town and end up at the same spot, should that be free? No. You are paying for their time. You got an $80 DIY level job.

You're still not getting my point. you just sound like a angry mechanic whos just butt hurt from all the cheap bastards around the world you had to deal with.

So you're saying If you had found a piece of maggot inside the $10 meal you just ate at a budget restaurant. you would just shrug it off and say to yourself, i get what i paid for? this is basics man. Just because its a cheap job doesnt mean it can be left half way done. It takes 2 seconds to just spray a few more coats on the under side of the exhaust. thats it.

Not only that, i even made myself clear, i didnt make a big deal of the blemish at first. The guys offered to re-do them themselves (i didnt even ask) and is ghosting me completely. This is what became the problem. Its basics and morals im speaking, NOT the cost of the job.

Theyre gonna run around thinking this is okay to do and rip off more and more ppl going forward.

Theres a maggot on your tip?

Do you expect an $80 meal to be the same quality as a $500 meal?

You got what you paid for, and now you're harassing them. I bet you also haggled for that price. Do you also go to a restaurant and make an offer on a steak?

Did you expect world class quality out of a kid in a back alley garage?

How much time do you think you bought? Maybe if you removed it and had it cleaned and ready to paint you would have the results you think you can get for $80 of materials and time. It's 2023, not 1980.

^whatever man, i already made my point pretty clear but just seems like you are failing to understand. When did i ever mention I was expecting perfection. And no, didnt haggle on the price at all (lol its $80), I knew what i was getting.

I personally had some minor private jobs done on my m3 at a few other home based businesses (window trim wrapping) and they all turned out well. Maybe i just got too comfortable

Kid now messages me after finding out about this thread. Says his cat was bleeding and he couldnt see my messages.. just done for the day. I just feel like im back in HS.

So many red flags you mentioned. Is it a legit business? With a GST number? At least you can complain to the BBB or something.

But for me sounds like some kids trying to make some cash. Bet all those high end cars they did were their friends with money, that couldn't give two shits lol.

My years have taught me to pay to get it done right, or do it yourself. I'm at a point where my time is way too valuable.

04-16-2023, 02:49 PM
Yeah, to be honest. I didn’t even shop around for the price or a different place. I never paid someone for a minor dip like this before so I didn’t even know what the going rate was. Just hit up the first business I found with some reputable posts and mutuals, got a quote, And just went for it.

You got what you paid for,

I don't expect maggots in any of my meals, $10, $80, or $500.
Unless I actually ordered maggots...

Then we can discuss how the $10 maggots didn't taste as good as the $500 maggots.

Not sure how this is hard to understand.

Dunno why everyone is giving crap to jpark.

I would expect some level of baseline quality... regardless of what I paid.

He is not looking for recourse or justice, at this point he made peace with his $80.

He is giving a warning out to the rest of us, so we can learn from his $80.

Dang it people, the last thing we want is the next jpark to chicken out and not post anything because he is worried he will get shit on by the "community".

Just chill guys, Sunday night, grab a drink and relax =D

I feel like if you run a business you should be proud of your work regardless of what you're charging

If its a nominal amount that just means material is cheap and time is short, but your quality of work should never wane, that should be a baseline

i kinda see both sides, on one hand you cant expect a perfect job unless they drop the exhaust, on the other hand the guy did say he would fix it and now he's ghosting him.

i dont know if i'd take it to the ends of the earth to put the guys on blast since it was only $80 and it was a half decent job from any normal visual distance, but i guess based on principle i'd be a bit annoyed.

The real lesson here is that you don't pay until work is complete and you've had a chance to inspect that it's done to your approval.

When I hire subcontractors for a project, you better believe they don't get their final payments until they've fixed all their deficiencies. Witholding money is the biggest motivator to getting shit completed.

I recommend holdbacks and progress draws next time.

Bonded in case their mom evicts them from the garage and Sezzywraps LLC. become insolent and gets delisted from the SP500.

it's not the fact that they did a shit job really..its the fact that they came up with a solution to fix it on saturday, and then basically ghost and said nvm we arent gonna fix it

For 80 bucks I'm surprised there wasn't overspray all over the bumper and a quarter tank of gas missing when he got back.

If the dudes look sketch, their "shop" looks sketch, and it's cheap on top of that chances are it's going to be a shit job.

Good luck in having them do you any favours now.

And I'm sure he paid at time of vehicle pick up. That's the only way these small transactions work. Otherwise scammers would set up meets and make off with the money and your car. If he didn't like it say something then.
