: Process to get on the waitlist at a dealership?

I've never put a deposit down on a car in Canada before so just checking: is it normal to have to actually complete a bill of sale to be put on a waitlist?

From the GM, on behalf of a sales person who's out this week:
We need to put a file together.

Here is what we need:
-Copy of driver’s license(s) (from whomever is going on the ownership)
-Copy of a current insurance slip

From there I will put together a bill of sale that mirrors what we have talked about.

This is for a Kia (MY2025 EV9 which isn't actually out yet), if that makes any difference?

Depends on the dealership/brand - for the Porsche dealer I just filled out a form with name and address, gave them my CC number, and then sent them a link to the build I wanted. I didn't have to provide a driver's license or insurance slip.

The process depends between dealers, but the waitlist for the Ioniq 5 / EV6 was managed by OEM in the beginning.

Dealers usually only take my DL and a deposit to put me on a list. Whether or not the queue is FIFO varies between stores.

I watch Hyundai/Kia content from Brantford Kia on YouTube. They advertise themselves as a no-markup dealer so maybe you can give them a call in case you're having a hard time with other stores since you're in Ontario.

Is it called the Ioniq 9 now? I don't know if I can get over how it looks :/. If they had continued the Ioniq 5's design language, I think I would've been a lot more into it.
