FIRST LOOK: 2025 Corvette ZR1 – 1064hp, Turbos & 215mph!

This is crazy. I wonder how hard it will be able to get.

Horsepower, like money, can make someone/something attractive even when they're not. The Corvette is now attractive.

I guess it saves some money and time for some rich person to add a twin turbo setup to their Z06. lol. Although 1064hp is not quite enough to win at TX2K. But that simple enough just crank the boost up and tune it.

Flat Crank V8 Twin Turbo revving to 8000rpm
1064hp on pump gas with a warranty
No hybrid BS

Damn....

Pretty sure you guys will complain how poorly built it is, and of course, write an entirely new bible just on how awful the interior and plastics used are.

I really wonder how it's even driveable at full throttle... I had the opportunity to drive a C6 ZR1 and that was "only" 638hp, that car was completely unmanageable at anything resembling full throttle in any gear. Just light the tires up almost no matter what speed you were going at least in 1 through 3. It's fun in a juvenile delinquent way, but gets tiring really fast when you just want to floor it and go but you're constantly feathering the throttle to stay alive.

I can't imagine with turbos and another 400hp that there's a tire in existence that can keep this thing pointed straight without a million electronic nannies cutting power and monitoring wheelspin and therefore not delivering the engine's output in a linear fashion.

you have to give the engineers and the suits who approved some serious credit

ths isnt a highly specialized tuning shop where if something pops youre on your own but with warranty and no weird tuning issues

nor are they dedicated to one model that's only meant to break one or two world record, i mean we're talking about the company that also created the geo metro and some pretty awful crossovers

seems wild they're pushing relatively wide availability for something like this AND this isn't even the halo flagship (Zora's gonna break the internet)

20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels wrapped in Michelin performance tires (275/30ZR20 front; 345/25ZR21 rear).

and Honestly, do I dare say 345s for 1064hp seems undersized, even for up to temp cup2Rs

The standard package utilizes the Pilot Sport 4S, while ZTK models will ship with Pilot Sport Cup 2-Rs.

Dry weight checks in at 3,670 pounds for the coupe and 3,758 pounds for the convertible

Dannnnnnnngggggggg, this thing is gonna put down some crazy numbers under the right driver....

I mean, it doesn't matter... at some point you have all the grip in the world and once you have that, then the fail point becomes the wheels de-beading from the tires and spinning inside the donut hahaha... they almost have to slip a bit so that doesn't happen

Seems crazy that with all GM's priorities, they've decided to invest such a serious level of R&D effort on the Corvette. There's no way the payoff on such a niche product could match taking that same effort and putting it on their other high-volume lines of business.

Can only assume they're doing this for something bigger. Like they want to invest in the long-term GM brand by ensuring history books record this as the pinnacle of the ICE car era.

They just added the electric motor from the E-ray to make the ZR1X making 1250 HP. They are claiming it's the first American hyper car. "Chevy claims a zero-to-60-mph time of under 2.0 seconds and a standing quarter-mile run in fewer than 9.0 seconds with a trap speed higher than 150 mph.

Chevy touts the ZR1X as "America's first hypercar". Impressive specs for the ZR1X.

What I also like about the 2026 Corvette is the new interior design. Getting rid of the vertical layout of the console buttons in order to create a more open interior is a good decision.

https://pressroom.chevrolet.com/gmbx...it-design.html

The cabin of the new 2026 Corvette welcomes both driver and passenger, beginning with a new three-screen layout and reimagined console design. The updated driver-centric cockpit includes a larger 12.7-inch diagonal center console display, an expanded 14-inch diagonal driver information center, and an all-new 6.6-inch diagonal touchscreen auxiliary display to the left of the steering wheel.

“The design team considered every element — from materials, to stitching, to layout of the interior - for the 2026 Corvette,” said Phil Zak, executive design director, Global Chevrolet. “Paired with the new screens and technology, the refreshed interior enables a refined experience for the driver and the passenger.”

It’s a lot easier to drive than C6/7 Z06, the C8 are almost boring now.
Gone are the leaf springs, rear axle isn’t as jittery so you don’t have to drive around it.
Gone is FR layout, engine mass helps.

I can pretty much guarentee it doesn’t make 1064hp in first gear. Boost by gear, super linear power curve for drivability. They did their homework.
