going to be at Calgary and Edmonton for few days, any suggestions for good hole in the wall Pho.
last time I went was years ago and surely tons of places closed down.
went back 2 months ago and friend just took me for Bún Bò Huế; this time I gotta try some good old pho.
Suggestion?
been a few years since i've been to calgary, but Pho Thanh Vietnamese Noodle House in Hunterhorn Plaza was alright, seemed busy when I ate there.
near deerfoot mall corner of 4st NE / 64th ave NE

If you've had the BBH at Suong Hong in Vancouver, they have a sister location in Calgary. Pho was okay. I didn't try the BBH, but my colleague did and he loved it. Keep expectations low. Way low. Do not bring anyone to impress and do not hype yourself up.

I just finished a road trip to Alberta 2 weeks ago and had pho twice, both times in Calgary:
Van Son Vietnamese Cuisine
308 16th Ave NW
Calgary
pretty good, huge portions, and the owners spoke Vietnamese so that's a bonus.
Pho Han Vietnamese Noodle House
2001 Centre St. N
Calgary
Decent as well, but I don't recall the owners speaking in Vietnamese...
Like bcrdukes says, keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed!
Edit: I noticed that both places I went to in Calgary accepted credit card (whereas in Vancouver, these places are typically cash only)
Going here next week
