https://pressroom.lexus.com/2025-lexus-rc-and-rc-f-a-sonorous-swan-song/

for all you guys who like the RC / RC-F get one this year or else they'll be gone forever.. no more 2GR FKS on the RC 300/350, no more 2UR GSE v8 on the RC-F.... RIP one of the nicest cars lexus ever made.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAHC8prR0V0

I wish they would have released a special color or something for the final edition.

Wtf I didn't know they had a 3.5 V6 with 260hp and a 3.5 V6 with 311 hp. I wonder how the turbo 4 banger is, no one talks about those. But damn rcf is over $100k

Badhobz

yeah they got 2 variants of this v6 and they killed off the turbo 4 a few years ago (same with the IS). I guess it wasn't reliable enough for Lexus and yet they threw that turbo 4 into the NX...

Edit: oh I guess this is the USA, they have the turbo 4. In Canada they discontinued the turbo 4 a while ago.

It's a weird price point to place this vehicle in competition with other marques. It's not a great track weapon and it's just...overall not great. It's just a reliable Toyota. What surprises me even more is Vasser Sullivan's dedication to campaigning the RC-F in the IMSA series, which surprisingly, has taken a lot of podium and series wins.

Having said that, I love the RC-F. :D

RIP RC & RC-F. :alone:

Yeah they priced it like a m3 with a 5-10k discount but the performance is more like a m340i.

It’s weirdly price and not that performant but the build quality and overall longevity makes it compelling enough to own for the long run. I mean look at the OG ISF prices vs a similar e90 m3

3.5 V6 with 260hp and a 3.5 V6 with 311 hp

And that's why it sucks

I thought it's the same engine just with a diff tune... I have seen some videos where people "unlocked" their 300's

Isn’t this Toyota v6 the same one in the lotus ? If so why couldn’t you just slap a supercharger on it and get a cheapie RC F

I'm surprised the RC lasted as long as it did - they didn't sell well here but I see a ton of them in Vegas / SoCal.

That's what I was told at the dealer - it's a detuned 350 via the ECU. I don't think they'll miss the RC-F either - those mostly sat in the showroom when a unit gets allocated.

I'll miss the model but it is a hard sell at full MSRP. The build quality on these is classic Lexus, though that doesn't translate through the spec sheet.

With this announcement, the last V8 Toyotas are down to the LC500 and IS500.

Both are rumoured to disappear by 2026 (final year). The v8 engine started lexus in 1989 with the OG LS400 and now its the last of the breed.

Yea for the price I'll just pick up a used gsf or lc500. It's way too expensive for what it offers, not practical, but also not sport enough. Also honestly is coupes just don't look good, there's this odd proportion with them.

Toyota didnt really invest/care for the RC/IS. Still using the same platform previous gen. Crap interior. They just wanna make more hybrid SUV’s.

Even my favorite lexus, the LS seem to be on its last legs.

Can we surmise the death of the LS/LC as well?

^ yeah they are looking to replace all the ICE engines with this boring thing 2.0L i4 thing. Just turning up the boost for performance applications.

https://www.motor1.com/news/747076/toyota-new-four-cylinder-turbo-engine/

So basically what VW group does with their EA888 and now it's in everything from Porsche's to Audi's

Have you ever felt like the EA888 in your Hitlerbox sounds like a flat 4? I notice it a lot when I start up off lights, gets that unequal lenght headers sound to it somehow?

All turbo4s sound like that - even my Type R

Yea, I dunno what Lexus is doing. I don't even see that many new is with the light bar tail lights around and you occasionally see a rc. I'm not in the market for a SUV, no more gs and LS is V6 which makes it worse than Genesis now. Seems to be turning into boomer brand. I don't think that Yaris hot hatch is coming here.

Badhobz
01-16-2025, 11:20 AM
waddya mean TURNing into a boomer brand, its always been a boomer brand. The only time they were able to get kids to buy their stuff was when the original IS300 was released and it had those clear taillights

JDMDreams

They were trying so hard to unboomer themselves with the is, F, and the spindle grill, all the Kevin nugyens with is350 or the poor ones with the 250. Now they discontinue everything for SUVs. I guess cuz they all turned into Uncle Nguyen by now.

Lexus has always been a boomer brand.

IS350 is a joke if you actually wants a even remotely sporty car. The entire IS series drives like a coma.

I see enough UX and NX around to think that Lexus should still be selling OK. In some cases, I have also come across RZ as well, although there are definitely way more bZ4X and Solterra around. But by and large, I feel like Tesla has stolen a lot of Lexus' lunches here in Metro Vancouver.

Ux= ct200 the Toyota Prius. Even nx is tiny, I don't know why anyone who wants a lifted SUV will buy a nx. That's like a cx30 there's literally no point if you plan to haul babies with it.

bcrdukes
01-16-2025, 12:59 PM
I'm thinking the UX or the NX might be the Corolla Cross and not the CT200?

The CT200 chassis is similar to my Corolla/Scion iM and is of a different platform.

Yea but it's the replacement model. I'm pretty sure even AWD Camry is roomier inside for less money.

The 3G IS was actually quite good, but only the IS350 F sport RWD. We test drove all of the contemporaries. The MB C350 was a terrible car - wife complained about the brakes and steering. The Audi A4 was old, it was the end of the generation for B8. The BMW F30 3 series was the only one that was good, but then the IS actually drove better, but the BMW had a much more seamless interface.

It drove better than all it's competitors and the interior was nice. We almost bought one.

Honestly the whole lexus lineup aside from the SUV/hatchback thingy you can axe them all except for the ES and the LS. They have too much pride to cancel the LS. They will probably make another halo car to replace the LC cause the CEO is a motorsport enthusiast.

Badhobz
01-16-2025, 02:25 PM
^yes the LF-R... a twin turbo v8 that a GT3 homologation car.

There's talk of them merging the next LC/RC into a RC sized coupe powered by the 2.0L inline 4

I hate these mid size things, and I feel they never work out. Like look what happened to Acura when they did the tlx. It flopped. 2, 4, 6 series. It's either small, medium, or large. Rcf is already to big to be small, and too small to be medium like e class coupe, 6 series. LC isn't as roomy as a s coupe.

I actually really like the 6 series gran coupe.... I mean yes F10 M5... but the F06 gran coupe m6... god... i love it LOL... i know i shouldnt but its like one of those guilty pleasures, I will love to own one, i just think the profile looks great~

2er, is a slightly larger replacement for the 1 series (for the NA market) unless you mean that weird fwd grancoupe thing fuck that thing

4er, I don't really understand why you want to buy it. I test drove one recently. It's cost cut to hell. I can't even see the speedometer; it's barely lit up. Tho unfortunately in my buddy's case his gf can't see when she drives the 5er, so a POS 3/4er it is. After experiencing a 5er, anything less than that is just a cost cut BMW - and I started from a 3er.

6er, see below.

I agree with dark on this one.. I really really like the 6 series gran coupe. Someone please hit me so I can buy a 640i. It's so fcking hard to find a 640i. 650i? Dime a dozen. Gimmie that N55, no BMW V8s for me.

I know what you think, but PLS DONT DO IT!!!!

I drove a manual E60 M5 Manual about a decade ago

- in all accounts it should be mint
- Brian Jessel Certified Pre-owned
- only 1 owner, last owner was an older gentleman
- no accidents or claims (not even windshield)
- full Brian Jessel service records since day 1
- just a tick under 70,000KM
- fully stock

20min into the test drive which I drove like a normal person with maybe a few stabs of the accelerator here and there..... CEL comes on and goes into limp mode ..... turn off the vehicle, turns back on... still CEL + limp mode... turn off now for a good 10min .... turns back on .... CEL + limp mode....

Limps back to the dealer, and the sales (which thankfully was my friend) was like... yea.... I will let the tech know... but damn LOLOL

From that point in life... I was like... never ever never ever...

But also... I always comes back and listen to the... eisenmann race exhaust (skip to 38 seconds)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t18Ssvf_1A4&t=39

The E60 M5 LCI with the "angel eyes" front and "angel wings" back ..... hahahaha I am so sorry I dont understand the hate with Bangle and the E60 styling, I actually really like it lmao... I am such a fanboy

Well basically you're buying the engine, for around the same price I can try to find a c63, gran tourismo. I dunno if isf is too old. I've never driven one but I've driven is350. 300hp was real fast at the time as a learner. And seems more tame compared to the others. Quattroporte seems to be over priced for what people want for them, they get into gran tourismo money. I'm not sure how horrible the V6 V8 stellantis quattroportes are cuz they are retarded cheap like used golf r money. $2-30000. Less than a used Rc. I skimmed last night and people are asking $50000 for a used none f rc :fulloffuck:
