I don't think they actually have the shooter?
from the AP:
The suspected shooter has not been arrested, Orem, Utah, Mayor David Young said. A person who was taken into custody by law enforcement at the university where Kirk was speaking was not the suspect, according to a person familiar with the investigation who was not authorized to speak publicly.
Don't have to like what he did for a living but at the end of it all:
His 2 children are going to ask "where is Dad and why isn't he coming home?"
The wave of potential mental illness that will sweep over the crowd of people who watched something that violent and grotesque. That shit burns into your brain and not everyone will casually go about their day. It could take a long time for some of those people to recover.
This is what happens when the political spectrum gets reduced to political tribalism.

Right when I saw the close up video after it happened I knew it was an instant death. No one will survive a shot to the neck like that. I might not agree with everything he says but no one deserves to die for having a different opinion of things.

The irony of it all is even better as he said gun deaths were a necessary side effect of gun rights when asked about school shootings and he was shot at a school and his event was called "Prove Me Wrong" and he was sitting under that sign when it happened.
He sorta lost the gun debate getting shot at a school sitting under a sign that challenged people to prove he was wrong.
Presumably he's not a hypocrite so he must have died believing that the gunman was just exercising his 2nd amendment rights that he fought so hard for and that his death was just proving the point. He'd probably be really, really mad if this was the thing that cause Republicans to finally want to do something about gun violence cause his death would then be in vain. At least his last few words were transphobic and racist so he was consistent in the end about his beliefs.

In his own words:
"I think it's worth it. I think it's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights."

lol all he did was debate people on university grounds.
In my mind, if I walk through a university, there should be debates like this happening left right and centre. every classroom should be debates. there should be auditoriums full of people debating each other and people taking notes.
the current state of post secondary is a joke. the professors are complete idiots. the institutions are completely corrupt....
and the KIDS at these schools have been given way too much ego and power... they are nothing... students are nothing. no body should respect them or give them time of the day until they make it in the real world. lol. they should be treated as kids.
professors should have to have a neutral stance on all politics. all religions. im sorry. like a judge... you shouldn't have any bias when your job is to "indoctrinate" people under you.
白左 is a societal disease. Even the COMMUNIST chinese laugh at these kind of "leftist"...
if any of you guys have children, it would be the dumbest thing to send them to university. you're gonna waste your money, and your kids are gonna come out dumber than they went in.
all they're gonna do is learn how to argue with key terms. masters of discourse... no real thought or critical thinking. just regurgitating some text book definition. zero life experience. throwing these Neo key terms and definitions around like they were written by God himself LOL. complete idiots.

Hmmm ... you'd think that a person with this profile would be a total Kirk disciple & follower. Curious to see how this story unfolds and the motive. It isn't the typical kind of suppressed anger, hate oneself, that goes on a shooting rampage at a school. Guy was singularly focused and a helluva shooter.

A clergy member helped turn in suspect
We have more details about how Robinson was turned in to law enforcement.
Two law enforcement sources tell CBS News, the BBC's US partner, Tyler Robinson's father relayed his son's confession to a clergy member - the family friend we heard about earlier.
That clergy member took the tip to the US Marshals Service, and then Robinson was detained.
Earlier in the morning, President Trump told Fox News that a "minister" was involved in helping authorities detain Robinson.
It is unclear what religion or denomination the clergy person is affiliated with.

09-13-2025, 07:54 AM
No one should die for their views, but I'm a firm believer you play with fire you can get burned.
Let's not pretend Charlie Kirk was some angel of a man, he ran a network pushing some very divisive and racist ideas. He pushed white supremacist ideologies, spewed a lot of hateful and racist rhetoric. This is the same guy who claimed that empathy is bullshit, proposed that black people were too stupid to attain the skills and education to enter career fields such as being a pilot, and that if you saw a black pilot it was simply because "DEI", the now classic dog whistle of the modern era.
Imagine being a young black kid and hearing this asshole come to your school trying to indoctrinate other kids by spreading that type of bullshit? Fuck that.
Words matter, and when you push out hate, hate can come back your way. I feel for the man's family, but he died playing this culture war game to his own economic benefit that is destroying society.
There is an irony is many ways that he died while trying to spread a falsehood that gun violence is perpetrated by "trans" people and "gangs" aka negros, meanwhile 99% of mass shootings are conducted by white men, notably the man who shot him.

Trump Called Utah Governor With Grim Warning Moments After He Spoke at Charlie Kirk Press Conference.
Speaking to The Atlantic‘s McKay Coppins, Cox said Trump called him not long after he gave an impassioned plea for peace in the wake of Kirk’s death on Friday.
“‘You know, the type of person who would do something like that to Charlie Kirk would love to do it to us,'” Trump said, according to Cox. Trump then informed Cox that being president is “one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet,” rattling off stats that 15% of those to occupy the White House had been shot. And 8% have died at the hands of an assassin.

The article seems to boil down to the point that marines with basic training could've done this.
Every U.S. Marine Corps recruit in basic training must hit a human-size silhouette target at 200, 300 and 500 yards to graduate, Pleasants said; U.S. Army soldiers must hit a target at 300 meters, or 350 yards.
I don't think those are head shots that marines gotta hit. The shooter had tons of experience with a rifle and his shot was able to land a lethal hit because he was trained.

Let's not turn this into a "transvestigation" thread, but if they are trans, and they were romantically partnered rather than roommates or whatever, that would certainly fit into the 4chan archetype. If not, whatever, who cares
If he's a groyper, and dating a trans, that does NOT make him a leftie lol. The insane alt right HATES women, and are very much into trannies. It would be the opposite of what some people are hoping for.

Just started to do a little bit of reading on Groyper and their relationship to the right (gawd, I hope I don't start getting their sh*t in my feed now) but one key point is their view on Israel. Groyper, think Nazi Germany, hates Israel. So imagine their view on Republicans and how they bow down to Jews and Israel in everything, economically and politically. They think people like Kirk are traitors, opportunist, and 'moderates' to the real cause ... so one of them eliminated Kirk.
You can see how the Republicans are pivoting and not talking about radical left behind the killing anymore and skinny said. Terrible for Republicans but great that this might be the thing that will result in far right/alt right movement implosion ... hopefully.

I don’t see him as a unredeemable ultra right wing piece of shit. I don’t agree on a lot or most of his positions but I also don’t see most of them being as extreme as presented .
The celebration of someone being killed seems to me to suggest more about polarization in today’s politics than anything else. The rights reaction included .
At the end of the day it seems the public personas of these guys are calculated/ presented to be polarizing . I doubt highly in real life they are this extreme . That to me is the real shame

See, and that's the problem. I bet a lot of these online culture warrior grifters don't even believe half the crap they spew out, but sitting on the extreme is what makes money and attracts attention/clicks, that's the fundamental problem here.
These people exist with these extreme opinions and play in dangerous arenas that attract the crazies, gives breath and legitimacy to these ridiculous ideologies, it's exactly what I hate about modern internet culture.
Everyone really needs to scale it back, every opinion doesn't need to be so hyperbolic all the damn time to garner engagement.

https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/800835023
Fuck right off :lol
Some nice examples of people who work/worked in this organization:
Turning Point USA's former national field director, Crystal Clanton, texted a fellow Turning Point USA employee “I HATE BLACK PEOPLE. Like f@#k them all. . . I hate blacks. End of story.” Clanton, was forced to resign after serving as the group’s second-highest official for five years. According to former employees, Kirk was the public face while Clanton acted as the hands-on boss. Kirk co-authored a book entitled “Time for a Turning Point: Setting a Course Toward Free Markets and Limited Government for Future Generations” in which he described Clanton as “the best hire we ever could have made” and “integral to the success of Turning Point while effectively serving as its chief operating officer”. Kirk heaps on the praise adding, “Turning Point needs more Crystals; so does America”. https://www.thewrap.com/hill-drops-pro-trump-contributor-caught-video-lamenting-nazis-didnt-keep-f-ing-going/
Crystal Clanton was succeeded by Shialee Grooman, who’s colorful Twitter history includes quotes such as, “I love making racist jokes” - “If you’re a race other than white I promise to make racist jokes towards you” - “I am always making racist comments lol” - “don’t date f@##ots then” - “d!ldo obsessed b$@ner” and “All I get is n!@#$er d!@k RT”.
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/turning-point-usa-racist-tweets_us_5ad65b06e4b029ebe01ed1ac
It is utterly hilarious these types of organizations can be deemed as non-profit. For Kirk, someone who isn't racist, he sure has a lot of smoke around that fire.
I've always said if it walks and quacks like a duck, it's probably a fucking duck :lol

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/17/business/media/abc-jimmy-kimmel.html
The comments at the center of this week’s firestorm came during Mr. Kimmel’s opening monologue on Monday night. “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” the host said.

The worst thing about the kimmel shit is that he didn’t celebrate Kirk’s death. He merely pointed to the fact that the very thing Kirk was fighting for is what killed him.
Truth isn’t allowed either, never mind free speech. Criticize the ruling class and their friends and you will be silenced. And to be clear, the FCC is a government organization threatening the network. ABC would have been well within its rights to silence Kimmel if they disagreed with him, as they are a private entity, but the moment the threat came from the FCC that became an egregious violation of the constitution.
Even many conservatives, which I will give those speaking out credit for, are disgusted by the clear violation.

Pure corruption.
ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel because Nexstar, one of their biggest distributors, said that they would not air Jimmy Kimmel. Nexstar is trying to acquire a rival distributor for $6.2 billion and has petitioned the FCC to repeal it's rule preventing more than 39% ownership stakes in broadcasting markets. This is obviously a move to get their broadcasting monopoly approved with the FCC after Brendan Carr threatened ABC.
This is exactly similar to how the Stephen Colbert situation played out.
Trump is leveraging acquisition/merger approvals through the FCC be threatening these companies to tow the MAGA narrative.
It's absolutely insane.

This is a good explainer on how to tell the diff between a lone wolf or a coordinated effort by the radical left.
If a Democratic lawmaker and her husband are gunned down, it’s an isolated incident carried out by a lone wolf.
If a right-wing activist is gunned down, it’s part of a coordinated effort by the radical left to incite violence.
If a gunman murders nineteen children at an elementary school, it’s disgusting to politicize the tragedy by talking about gun control.
If a Republican presidential candidate is targeted in an assassination attempt, it’s fair to blame it on left-wing rhetoric before the shooter has even been identified.

Notably, Nexstar is seeking the Trump administration’s approval to acquire Tegna, another big group of U.S. stations. The deal requires the FCC to loosen the government’s limits on broadcast station ownership.
Minutes after Nexstar criticized Kimmel, ABC said the show was being yanked nationwide.
Later in the evening, another big station group, Sinclair, announced it would air a one-hour special tribute to Kirk on Friday night in Kimmel’s usual time slot.
Sinclair issued a statement saying the late-night host’s suspension “is not enough” and called on the network, the FCC and Kimmel to go further. It demanded Kimmel apologize to the Kirk family and make a “meaningful” donation to his relatives and his organization, Turning Point USA, which advocates for conservative values in schools.
Sinclair, too, has business pending before the Trump administration. It made a bid for Tegna a day before Nexstar stepped in with its bid.

all pilots operating in the United States must be FAA-qualified, meaning they need to hold the appropriate pilot certificate, medical certificate, and meet specific training and experience requirements set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This includes pilots of most aircraft, as well as commercial drone operators, though military pilots have different requirements for operating military aircraft.
You think United airlines has the power to change FAA regulations?

That would be my understanding, from the pool of those who are qualified, pass all the certifications, exams, tests, etc., you select from those qualified candidates, individuals that reflect better the demographic of our society ... females & people of colour. There isn't any safety standards lowered or sacrificed.
You didn't watch the video from start to finish, did you?
The context was the following:
United wanted to take on a DEI approach. Increasing from the current 15% of black/female pilots to 50%.
Kirk's opinion was that it didn't matter what skin color or gender a pilot is. Every time a DEI or Affirmative Action was introduced, the standard had to be lowered. From my own research, that proved to be true. Ivy league didn't get all the best students, but rather, for black students, only x of GPA was required. For Asian? Y of GPA needed. And X<<<Y. So, a black Ivy league student can be a shitty student vs. their Asian/White counterparts, but it's ok because the school ask for less if you are black.
So, taking this context to the airlines, they are willing to hire a lesser qualified (say a pilot who had flown 100hrs vs one who had flown 6000hrs). Do they meet the bare minimum requirement of FAA? You bet. But in his own example in the video, when it comes to a pilot dealing with severe and rare turbulence in the sky, if you had the option, would you rather trust a 6000hr pilot or a 100hr pilot?
Notice how I purposely left out any skin color or gender here.
So, UA is willing to forgo the idea of finding the best pilot there is, as long as they can meet the quota.
What Kirk was proposing was, get rid of the DEI/AA quota. Just hire the best darn pilots there are. They can be black, indian, Chinese, LGBTQ... whatever, as long as they are the best there are.
Because what's happening here is actually UA purposedly implementing racism into their hiring system. If you ain't black or female, don't count on it as you'd only have 50% of chance of being hired even if you are the best pilot for that aircraft type there is on earth. And the reverse is also true, if you are black or female, doesn't matter if you have little experience or is less experienced of a pilot. As long as you are black or female, you'd have 50% chance of getting hired.

To become a certified airline pilot in the United States, you need an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, which requires a minimum of 1,500 flight hours. This total must include specific types of flights, such as 500 hours of cross-country time, 100 hours of night flying, and 50 hours in multi-engine aircraft
After you are certified you look for a job. Why would someone have 6000 hours of flight time before they got a job? I would think there would be something wrong with that person.
This is just another B.S. made up scenario.

A pilot (regardless of skin color) with that bare minimum requirement vs. a seasoned veteran with 10x of that amount. Who would you rather fly with?
If it was up to me, I could care less if my pilot is black/latino/female or whatever if UA's hiring criteria were "we only hire the best". Instead of "we would have 50% black and/or female pilots as long as they meet the FAA requirement" because diversity matters. Like... what do I care about what skin color is? I want the best pilots, not because the pilot is black or female.
And if you actually care that your pilot is black or female, you are the one who's racist because by definition, you believe that the skin color is better than merit. It just so happen that your preference is black and you don't get called out for. But that's the very essence of racism when you have preference based on skin color/ethinicity.
And again, in Kirk's video, he didn't say Black couldn't be the experienced pilot. In fact, he was pointing out that one'd fly with a black/female/whatever pilot as long as they are the best. But the criteria should be focusing on best pilots rather than just on the skin color or gender alone.
By implementing a system based on skin color/gender rather than merit, that's why that snippet of oh if I see a black pilot I should be worried about whether they got the job because they were actually skilled instead of just their skin color.

I have never once cared who my pilot was on a plane. When you grab a taxi or uber do you check to see how long that person has been driving for? Because you are way more likely to get in a car accident then one in a plane.
This has nothing to do with merit it's all about opportunity. If you have a family member or a friend that is a pilot you are going to have a easier time of becoming one yourself. American airlines wanted to open up the opportunity to more people.

Now you get it.
This is exactly what Kirk is saying. If diversity were a natural result due to meritocracy, there’s no problem whatsoever. No one is saying black pilots cannot be good pilots.
By forcing DEI quota even when better choices are available, where the only other difference is skin color, you are essentially taking away opportunities from who deserved more and give it to others purely based on their skin color. That is racism. And not just that, you are also risking the safety of passengers just because of a skin color is somehow more important?!
Every airline says that safety is their first priority, but clearly, DEI quota goes against that principle.

I read about half of the article and still suggest the same thing. Don’t just give me MSM “sources” where it’s cherry-picking snippets to try to prove a point.
The article says that Kirk is homophobic and against the LGBTQ+ community. If you actually watch his videos in its entirety, he doesn’t give a ratass what a person does in their bedroom. He doesn’t agree with LGB because it’s against Christian values but agrees to disagree as he sees it as personal preference.
Where he did have a strong opinion was with TQ. He doesn’t want kid being able to access permanent medical procedures when science has shown that many kids do struggle with gender identity. Second, he didn’t want men in women washroom, change room or sport. He didn’t care what one identify with. You do things according to your natural gender, which are 2: male and female. No if or buts. Just the nature truth on human.
Now, as I said before, you might not agree with his opinion. You might feel it’s ok for men to compete in women sport, for men to use women change room because they identify as female. But it doesn’t make him a homophobic. And remember, he’s cool with LGB. Where he has issue was TQ. I don’t agree with TQ either and if I had a daughter, you can bet I’d have issue if there’s men trying to go to same change room as her. You might disagree, but it doesn’t make Kirk homophobic.
Tl;dr: as I said, don’t take snippets, actually watch the whole conversation. You might not always agree with him. But it’s a case of different opinion rather than racism, homophobic or whatever you are trying to label him.
why the fuck are we still talking about this dead idiot here? who gives a shit.
A RACIST CONSERVATIVE WHITE MAN!? wow.... never seen that before.

This is so fucking stupid it’s hilarious. There isn't any safety standards lowered or sacrificed.
For the record, I hate the term "DEI hires" and implications it carries. I am a believer of hiring the most qualified candidate. That said, I understand and agree with the goals of having "DEI hires", and I still look at it under the lens of "hiring the most qualified candidate for the job".
In the context of healthcare, it is much easier to understand the importance of "DEI hires". The goal of healthcare is to obtain good healthcare outcomes for the patients. And in light of that, it is extremely important to have a representative percentage of healthcare staff that both understands the nuances among the different demographics, and is able to quickly and easily gain the trust of the patients. Just as an ethnic Chinese doctor would more likely understand the cultural normals and practices of a Chinese patient, or an Indian doctor understanding the typical diets and meal patterns of Indian patients, it is important to have these culturally sensitive staff because no amount of medical training can make up for that. Or in an even more easily understood case, women tend to trust and feel more comfortable with female OBGYNs more than they do with male OGBYNs, and it is super important to have medical staff that the patients would trust.
So echoing what whitev70r has said, schools and hospitals are hiring candidates that already meet the required standards. But in order to provide the best health outcomes for patients, you want to include a proportionate mix of different ethnicities and genders in your "hires".
Now tracing back to what that racist piece of trash Kirk has said -- the guy is automatically questioning whether a black doctor or pilot is qualified when he sees them. He is obviously a fairly intelligent person, so he is able to come up with this roundabout explanation of "wanting to hire the most qualified person for the job" as easy justification for his racist BS.
I could have easily given him the benefit of the doubt or excuse his "hiring for the best qualified candidate" opinion if that was the only comment he has said. But when he recurringly make different racists remarks to belittle visible minorities -- that black women lack the brain processing power to be taken seriously, and that they have to take a white person's job to be taken somewhat seriously -- it paints a far more accurate picture of what his character is -- that he is a racist and misogynistic piece of trash.

BTW specific to the whole pilot argument. There is literally zero evidence to support the idea what any airline is hiring pilots based on DEI, there is no data to support that.
You either pass the requirements or you don't, plain and simple.
The only DEI that has been applied is encouraging training academies to pipeline more minorities into these development academies to train pilots. This in no way lowers the requirements to become a pilot, or be hired as a pilot.
Hehe you're either being purposely obtuse, or perhaps your own bigotry blinds your ability to recognize the clear dog whistling Kirk played.

So in 2014 LA Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, was banned for life from the NBA and forced to sell his team due to racist remarks he made - those remarks were widely condemned and everyone at the time said it was clearly racist.
What did he say that got him banned?
On April 25, 2014, TMZ Sports released a recording of a conversation between Sterling and his mistress, V. Stiviano (born María Vanessa Perez, also known as Monica Gallegos, Vanessa Perez, and Maria Valdez).[47][48] In the recording from September 2013, a man confirmed to be Sterling was irritated over a photo Stiviano had posted on Instagram, in which she posed with Basketball Hall of Fame player and Laker great Magic Johnson.[49][50] Sterling told Stiviano, who herself is part African-American: "It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you're associating with black people," and, "You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want," but "the little I ask you is ... not to bring them to my games."[51][52]
Those two statements were enough to get him banned for life from the NBA yet 11 years later we have a huge catalog of Charlie Kirk saying many things of a similar nature but folks like Hehe will go around saying he's not a racist and just misunderstood.
Was Donald Sterling wronged? Should Sterling have been allowed to keep his NBA team? Was Donald Sterling just misunderstood?

There has long been a history of attempting to normalize anti-black ideologies and sentiments within the US. Charlie Kirk was a standard bearer of that goal. That normalization has come so far from 11 years ago that here we are arguing with people to "prove" Charlie Kirk's words were racist in the first place.

When players were kneeling back in 2016, players were suspended, the outright outrage on the right was palpable with cries of "keeping politics out of sports".
Less then a decade later, teams are jumping on board (or perhaps forced) to assign a moment of silence to commemorate a racist political podcaster in a league full of black dudes. My understanding from a friend who is a pilot (co pilot?) is that you start on the bottom rung ( in his case flying for pacific coastal etc) and need a lot of experience to move up to the larger airlines . As is the case in many industries..like just because you go to cooking school doesn’t give you the experience to be an exec or even sous chef. You need the real world experience as well as the technical qualifications.
Wasn’t there at some point on here someone involved in the airline industry ( pilot maybe)? Be interesting to hear from his/her perspective ( I realize this was only a cherry picked scenario by Kirk in this situation trying to create a wedge issue).
Lastly I have a friend who is a crown prosecutor and we were discussing the idea of him becoming a judge . He’s white / male. When I asked him what the prospects of that happening was he said “ well I’m not really the right demographic etc of what they are looking for”. Or something along those lines .
He went on to say they were trying to diversify the roster of judges to include more Indigenous , women , etc ( anything besides white men and to some extent white women).
I was a little annoyed on his behalf because I thought he is/was qualified and being not seen as a good candidate because he’s white seemed unfair. To his credit he mentioned he was totally ok w it . We talked about how important representation is in places like the legal system. And while I understand it and ultimately agree with it I still find it hard to square that circle sometimes .
What the crux of the issue is with Charlie Kirk is his false assumption / assertion that you have to drop qualifications in order to achieve representational hires. It’s not true in technical aspects like pilots and not true in more esoteric things like Judges. The judges they are hiring now are every bit as qualified as my friend . They’ve just also have the bonus of bringing with them representation which is an important qualification in the legal ( and health ) system .

Good on your friend for his take on this - depending on the domain/sector a white male may be genuinely disadvantaged due to DEI in that the rebalancing is so aggressive that new candidates are negatively impacted but on the whole, the diversification efforts are just rebalancing an existing injustice - ie, white males were so over-represented for so long that what's happening isn't bias for minorities but equalisation.
In software development we were seeing women be ~35% university graduates (depends on the decade you look at) but we'd somehow only end up with 25% of intermediate developers being women and then something like 10% of mangers being women. So when tech companies say we want 35-40% of their devs to be women, they're really just trying to get to the numbers that they see coming out of school.

What I've learned from pilots in my family is that to get the hours a lot of them start out flying bush planes to places almost nobody has heard of. Pacific Coastal would've been a big upgrade over the stuff they were doing lol. If someone has made it to where they're piloting for any major airline they've got a lot of experience and they're a solid pilot.

Far too often I see lefties being completely ignorant about what the actual world is.
Why is racism/sexism or whatever not an issue in countries like Japan, China, Brazil... etc? Is it because they don't have discrimination over there? No. It's just they don't take it much of an issue other than personal belief/opinions.
Here we have the entire MSM making such a big deal out of it. I'm not saying that racism is ok and we should tolerate it. No. But it should NEVER be used as an excuse to force believes upon others.
Just because I don't agree with Muslims religion doesn't mean I discriminate against them. Just because Kirk said he didn't agree with TQ+ doesn't mean that he discriminate against them. Just because the society is done taking refugees doesn't mean that we discriminate them. Just because we don't want them to be praying to Allah or whoever in the middle of the street doesn't mean we are religiophobia.
It's a difference in opinions. While we respect each others' belief, it doesn't mean I need to take your belief as mine. It's always "agree to disagree". But these newcomers to Canada/Europe/US... they don't want you to disagree. If you don't agree to their ideology, you are discriminating against them. WTF is that? Here is Canada. If you don't want to adapt to the Canadian value, either go somewhere where your value is shared or learn to accept that there can be other values besides your own.

LOL @ no racism in Japan... holy shit man you ever sat down with a Japanese resident and heard them go off about "fucking mainlanders" buying up property surrounding Tokyo or turning some distrcits into "little China" or all the "no gaijin" establishments around the city. I had Japanese gf's in the past and heard them say this stuff on the reg and can only assume it's gotten worse in the last 10 years.
Nevermind sexism? The fact my ex-gf had to sign a contract with her employer that if they promoted her, she promised not to get pregnant? That she was encouraged to not get married or if she did not to wear a ring so that they could use her to act suggestively to other company's higher ups when they're trying to do favourable business with them? The numebr of times a manager asked her for sexual favours if she wanted a good review? And this was no fucking small company either, we're talking Deloitte & Touche Tokyo here.
I love Japan but man anyone saying there's no racism or sexism issues there is getting their info from a FUCKED UP land of denial.
It's not a public issue because they're AFRAID to challenge the patriarchy en masse... they're AFRAID of mass cultural change in a culture designed to punish/ostracize people who don't stay in line. That's not a trait to be admired in another country. As for the racism well you just can't understand Japanese because they talk about that shit non-stop all the time, quite loudly and easily.
What a bizarre head shaker of a take.

What has changed about Canadian culture with the influx of Indians? What is different? What laws are changing? What do you have to do differently right now?
Man I don’t give a fuck what these dudes wear on their heads or the food they make or whatever. It has literally zero effect on me. It has never had an effect on me. It never will. It’s just a perceived bias because it’s easier to notice a dude in a turban behaving poorly than it is to notice a Chinese guy or a white guy because there are 50% more Chinese guys and white guys around. Some retarded immigrant saying he’s going to force me to be Sikh happens way less often than some retarded white guy saying he’s going to force me to be Christian, which is actually a valid concern when it comes to lawmaking in this country. Look at Alberta.

I didn’t say there’s no racism. I said it’s not so much of an issue that we make out to be. Racism at its core is stereotyping. The whites are xxx, the blacks are yyy, the Chinese are zzz and so on.
In China, it’s just taken as part of life. Lao-wai (old foreigner by literal translation) is racist by western definition, but it never stopped the public from using it. Why? Because it’s not meant in a defamatory way. It’s just how they call foreigners in general in colloquial settings.
We here in Canada, we make such a deal out of anything. Any slight disagreement is discriminatory by default. Why is that? Why can’t people learn to actually care about more important stuff and instead focusing on meaningless stuff just so that we are politically correct. People are having problems with paying their bills or getting proper health care. And yet our government and people is more interested in whether they are pronouncing a word politically correct.
In the end, it doesn’t concern me. I’m in a position that in the worst case scenario, I pack up the bags and go. I have 3 citizenships and 2 permanent residency status that gives me a lot of flexibilities. But it just saddens me that Canada has come to this. Where people and our government care more about their face than what’s actually good for people.

While not the same thing, but there is a large Islamic contingent here in Mississauga West where a group of people wanted to have loud speakers play prayers 24/7 (or something like that) at their mosque. It's been squashed, but this group keeps insisting. How you perceive this is up to you.

Having experienced a safer environment or rather feeling safe for the first time since the 2010 Olympics recently, I'd be considering a move as well. I could care less about HK's problems with the CCP, at least it feels safe and they can actually see a damn doctor when they need to. Hell one of my friends who moved to HK, 9 years ago, mentioned that the easiest way to spot a Westerner/European is to watch how protective they are over their bags LOL. For ref, the airport bus has a specific area for luggage, but us Westerners/Europeans prefer to keep it in between our legs lol. Hell I didn't even realize I was hyper active about my surroundings until buddy pointed it out and I walked like an hour in the middle of the night checking over my shoulders for nothing.
Channeling my inner HondaRacer, Vancouver (in general) is so unsafe that I accidentally did my laundry and touristy roamed around in the largest brothel district in Osaka and western Japan LOL. Yeah, it felt grungy, rundown and almost sketchy with the locals staring you down and you feel obviously out of place, but nothing like Vancouver on a regular basis. I didn't know this was a legitimately sketchy neighborhood till I told a Japanese bartender who said "I'm Japanese and I would NEVER venture into that area"

Not what I'm saying and you guys know that's not what I'm saying lol. Ok, so it is an insignificant portion of that group, why isn't our government doing anything about it? That screams like threats of terrorism to me.. but OH NOOOO WE DONT WANNA BE RACIST WAH
Indians are saying they're gonna force their culture down the throats of Canadians and force everyone to assimilate to their values?
idk, maybe post the vid then. unless they are threatening attacking people then i don't see how this hits the high bar of terroristic threats..
i know islamic extremists want the world to align with their view, but personally i've never met sikhs that try to push their religion and culture down our throats.

Like what is the context of all these people forcing their way of life on us? What the fck is your uneducated ass talking about. Sikhs have never tried to convert anyone and never will. It goes against there core believes. Sikhs don't care what religion you are. Sikhs have literally died protecting other religions.
When it comes to conversions Christians are the worst.

No, I said I didn't realize that I was normally being hyperactive about my surroundings. And definitely always late at night or hearing weird sounds. You definitely walk around late at night less as an adult - we all drive now. You ever walk around downtown late at night or around like 8/9pm when no one is around? LOL
If you think Vancouver is so unsafe that you'd rather live under the CCP you should probably talk to a therapist or something.
I don't think the CCP (or rather politics) will affect me as a normal non-politically outspoken person as much as having to pay more than 13% for income tax, having to be hyper aware of surroundings, having to pay more money to have hobbies/eat/travel than here, etc
Yeah, the living size sucks. But on the opposite end, I also have all this useless space... Makes no difference,

At least, if someone robs me in HK, they'll actually be put in jail instead of a revolving door of catch and release. Crazy that the only people actually punished here are law abiding citizens lol - people with something to lose. Say what you will about big brother gov society, but like why does a normal person need privacy - you're not doing anything fucked up. What's the gov gonna do? Watch me jerk off? Plus if you really had to be worried about govvy surveillance, you're probably already being watched and if not that, your internet metadata has all your info - makes no difference.

You have ZERO control over when they decide to use that data for nefarious reasons or stomp all over your rights / rug pull you from what you expect to be a norm... just hand that to them on a silver platter for nothing? Well good luck to you if you move, not sure how you plan to afford HK if you can't afford Van.
And yah I used to work in downtown for 7 years, 9 days every 2 weeks so I spent lots of time down there at all times of day nevermind going to tonnes of concerts and bar functions... I didn't die after I turned 35 lol... and given my proximity to the Canada Line I walked to/from that for all my transpo, no cars into downtown.
Where you getting all these kwazee cupcake ideas from? Law abiding citizens being punished? How? Where? When? I've never been punished for anything... speeding tickets?? No idea what you're going on about man.
I mean if you want to move and you like somewhere better, more power to you... but acting like BC or Canada has fucked you over/put you into some kind of bad position somehow is not a hot take.

The Anti-Defamation League has labelled Charlie Kirk's organization, TPUSA, as being extremist. The ADL is an anti-nazi organzation that fights anti-semitism.
Elon Musk is in a rage about this and has called the ADL a hate group - the ADL has previously defended Musk after Musk made a "Roman salute" at a Republican event.
As you all know I'm a simple man but when an organisation that is ok with Nazi salutes says that the views of Charlie Kirk's organization are extremist I guess that must mean something.

I have had a lot of issues with racism growing up as you said. But that never stopped me or my family to do great.
As a matter of fact, my dad went from a net worth of barely 6 figures to 8 figures during his stay there (about 15 years). In his car perspective, he went from a crappy cheapo used Ford Falcon to brand new Range Rover while there.
That’s why I could never believe when someone says racism is an issue when it comes to making big. It’s only how you see it. If you constantly want to believe that it’s the systematic racism that’s holding you down, then you’d never fight against it.
I personally just don’t see it as an issue but rather motivation to work harder.
And once you make it big, they would be begging you to join their group. Whether it’s investor group or philanthropy. The amount of ass licking I’ve seen is unbelievable. And that’s coming from people of all races.

While my experience was similar back in 2019, I think it's fair to say that there is also the possibility that we, as tourists, may not get to see. I would disagree that Western/European propaganda is the reason we may feel that China is a hell hole, but there are lots of areas in China that normal tourists don't get to go to, so we don't see the real China, or what happens behind the scenes. On the other hand, China has changed a lot over the past 30+ years.

I went in 2005 for a week, never saw blue sky once through the smog.
The streets were clean, but there were LOTS of beggars on the street. Not crackheads, but disabled people who seemed like they were cast aside by society.
Also the spitting on the sidewalk... that was pretty gross.
But I did feel safe walking around at night, that street with all the night clubs door to door was kind of neat. Don't like one club? Take your drink to the one next door!
Sounds like they've cleaned up quite a bit in the past 20 years.

It's easy for tourist to visit a place and think things are great in those places. It's the same when old timers think things were better in the old days. I went to Banff and it was clean as a whistle. No homeless people and snow capped mountains everywhere! This country couldn’t possibly have any issues.

There were no beggars, disabled chopped up ppl begging, crackheads.
People don't even spit that much either which is odd. There's no honking and 80-99% of the cars are EV.
At one point, we had to nam squat, smoke and start spitting to become the stereotype.
BIC totally did not see those kids sewing soccer balls for Nike and putting together my Uniqlo t-shirts nor did he see the concentration camps for the Uyghurs where the Chinese are systematically committing genocide.
It's easy for tourist to visit a place and think things are great in those places. It's the same when old timers think things were better in the old days. I'm sure there's lot of good stuff in China nowadays compared to when I went 20+ years ago - my parents always rave about it but there's plenty you don't get to see if you don't actually live there long-term.
BTW: Does anyone know which Scandinavian country Honda ended up moving to?
We drove by semi conductor factories where workers get free housing and meals but work 9-9-6. Apparently it's great economic opportunity from people goin from tier 4 farmer life to tier 3/2ish wealth.
Please send videos of the genocide or kids factories from live leaks.
Kind of conflicted, if these factories for Nike or Uniqlo didn't exist what economic opportunities would tier 4 kids have.

I'm being slightly facetious about child labour - that's mostly moved to other poor countries but the genocide is not really in dispute. If you're saying it's not true your head is buried under the sand.
Genocide watch has China at stage 9 out of 10 (extermination) for their actions against the Uyghurs people. https://www.genocidewatch.com/country-pages/china
A simple Google search shows plenty of human rights organizations reporting on this - China doesn't get punished for it b/c it's simply too powerful to be punished.
Canada is not a nation without sin, both past and present, but China's current actions in Xinjiang are full of sin even as they move their people forward in incredible ways.
