macro question... is it possible?
hey guys,
i have a question for all you photography enthusiasts... i had the diamond on my fiancees engagement ring engraved is it possible to take a macro shot of it so that she can have a picture where she could actually see the engraving? thanks! |
Of course it is. With the proper lighting and a macro lens it shouldn't be a problem.

would most photographers have the proper equipment to do this?
wasnt sure how close you can get with a macro lens... considering jewellers need to use a scope or high power loop. or is a professional macro lens essentially the same idea? |

yeah this isnt a typical engraved ring
this is actually engraved onto the girdle of the diamond. so it is quite small, not visible to the naked eye. so sounds like i should talk to some jewellers, maybe they'll have something set up on a scope that would be able to take a pic |
You could probably use the 5DMK2 and the 1x-5x macro lens and then just crop it. You might be able to see the engraving, no?
|
langara photo imaging has a microscope that has adapters to hook up to a medium format camera... but our semester is over... not sure if you can talk to them to see if they can set something up.

I have a MPE that goes all the way to 5X life size, with a ring flash that works out pretty well. The full frame 5D MKII has to much DOF to be used with the macro really. It can be usable though.
