The whole fucking point of evolution is survival of the fittest; previous generations of that wasp may have grown their larvae in other climates, situations etc, and then it found they reproduce best laying eggs in cockroaches over time.

How does a stickbug know it looks like a stick? And if it stays still on a branch it will avoid a predator? Answer: it EVOLVED so that it may survive.
