FS: Digital Designs Z1 amp (3700+ watt amp)
In mint shape, here are some quotes from a test report:
Okay, it was time for the moment of truth. We wanted to see just how much power the Z1 could output. We started with a 4-Ohm non-inductive load and a 50Hz sine wave (represented by the Red-line above). The Z1 outputted 1725 Watts RMS, with THD levels well below .1% for 83% of the RMS range. Into a 2-Ohm non-inductive load (represented by the Blue-line), the RMS output more then doubled (denoting a well designed power supply) to 3554 Watts, again with 80+% of output below .1% THD. As we were configuring our resistor bank for 1-Ohm, we were getting excited, as it was starting to look like the Z1 just might output 6-7 KW’s into 1-ohm! As we ran our test sequence the Z1 current draw rose: 10, 30, 65, 162, 208, 238, 284 and just as it hit 300 amps, it went into protection, impeding us from determining its true RMS output; However, before it shut down, it produced 3759 Watts @ .1% THD (represented by the Pink-line). Leaving us disappointed, as we suspect this amplifier might have reached 6-7000 Watts, but we will never know, as we were unable to keep the Z1 functional beyond 300 amps of input. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...DSC09482-1.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...DSC09481-1.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...DSC09476-1.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...DSC09479-1.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...DSC09480-1.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...DSC09475-1.jpg $850 |
