Fast Video Editing Software?

So I am looking for a video editing program that will easily chop down a large video file ie a movie into sections like part 1 part 2 etc.

Whats the best program?
I tried adobe premier and such but they were confusing and doesnt get the job done
windows movie maker was 2 slow

VirtualDub.

Just use direct stream editing mode.
