I feel that the US won't make a huge incident of this. They can't afford to start another war when the whole Iraq issue is still going on.

Trust me, WW3 is never gonna happen until a long long time,
with reasons due to human/nation survival rather than simply someone pissing off another.

Everyone knows how fcked everyone/everything will be should it happen.
With the technology now, everyone's gonna die.

If I was in a carrier battle group going through there I'd be nervous, no better place for an ambush. Funneling the ships in there makes their numbers count for a lot less with zero room to maneuver.

I wouldn't be so sure. With the exponential rate of man's population growth I think a major conflict will occur within our lifetime's.

I don't think there would be another world war in which nations fight against nations, but rather, it would be insurgency all over the world fighting off their own ruling governments.

well, how exactly is anyone going to ambush a US carrier group? they can see over every nearby hill, radar, probably scout aircraft going around the area, and satellite visuals of the entire area around the canal
