Turkey Brining Bag
Where can I find Turkey Brining Bags in Vancouver? or the XXL Ziploc Bag that can fit a 15-20lb turkey?
It seems like most major grocery stores don't sell them here. |
call gourmet warehouse on hastings
|
Get a large tupperware container if you can't find one.
|
^wtf man
never seen a tupperware container that fits a turkey a cooler would work tho |
|
^ Dude, is that even a food storage container? if not, I don't wanna place a turkey in just any PLASTIC container. PBC is BAD for you!

Cause I'm pretty sure I've got some of my stuff stored in dollar store containers. :heckno: |

i would go to zellers or crappy tire to pick up a cheap rubbermaid container.. like the cheapest one you can find.. (it should run you about 5 bucks).....

Gourmet warehouse, Williams Sonoma, call the kettle black, cookworks,.
Brining is one of the best ways to prep a turkey, good luck! Posted via RS Mobile |
Btw it's PVC not PBC... Polyvinyl chloride plastic

or just get a prebrined turkey (i think butterball does it)
unless you're planning to buy a heritage breed. i got my turkey from JD farms last year and it was wonderful |
Is basting necessary?
|
Yep, basting is necessary, you want to keep the breast moist and keep the skin from burning.
On another note, try this brining recipe... Buttermilk-Brined Turkey | Williams-Sonoma IMHO spend the extra money and get a farm fresh turkey, it may cost up to 3x more but the flavour is well worth it. Check out your local butcher shop and see what they offer, I usually order mine from Jackson's Meat & Deli. Butterball is a no no... |
afaik basting is not necessary on a brined turkey
|
edited my post above... i said basting, meant to say brining. in the brining recipe i posted it does recommend basting every 30 mins.
|
certainly cant hurt.
when i did the turkey last year, i brined it and didnt baste it, but i did follow that tin foil trick that is on that recipe you posted. i think i got the idea from a good eats episode. |
nice! i love good eats.

anyways, joke (but half serious) suggestion with the big tub. |
if you want some good containers, go for the cambro containers that restaurants use.
