Never been through a VI - what kind of checks do they perform?

road side stops are normally, wheel gap, exhaust, turn signal/headlight bulbs, tire wear etc

They don't go into that much detail just the normal stuff people mod on vehicles

Yeah they check and see if your horn works too, they made me do full left and right turn locks. Just a heads up to my fellow RSers.

VI's in Surrey, no way.


Hell, I've driven cars without exhausts right beside cops and they didn't seem to mind lol.

Yeah I was surprised too, they pull over older cars and do inspections in the middle of the road.

On sunny days, further east on 64th @ 194 Street, the cops have been regularly out doing seatbelt, cel phone checks. It's like fishing during high season for them: drop their line, and instant bite!

the cvse have been set up on the nordel way hwy on ramp for three days now

The CVSE was all over deltaport and mitchell island this past week too pulling over everything left and right and doing roadside inspections

I've never been pulled over for a VI, ever. In Surrey, Richmond, Vancouver etc. etc. Don't drive like a dick and run a front plate and they will leave you alone.

OR drive a Miata. One or the other :P

They had a road block one night at an on ramp into Richmond specifically for modified cars, and that's where I got my VI. Sometimes it's more "wrong place, wrong time" rather than driving like a dick.

^ true to a certain extent, but not completely. like falcon said above, run a front plate, don't drive like an idiot and you'll be fine. only ticket i've ever received wasn't even in richmond (for yellow fogs, dispute won), i have yet to receive a single ticket in richmond. knock on wood, but i think it comes down to the driver

Also seen CVSE/RCMP doing cell phone/seat belt checks along Fraser Highway through the Aldergrove stretch (where the Safeway and Rbc is)

Highway 1 onramp westbound at the Clearbrook entrance. I've seen them camp out there about 7 times now. Got busted there about 2 months ago...

Also every couple days they'll do radar on Highway 1 alternating between westbound and eastbound in between the yale exit and lickman exit in Chilliwack, where the big curve is.

radar detectors are legal....Laser Jammers are illegal.

It's been discussed already, laser jammers are a grey area.

When I had my cut spring volvo pulled up to a roadblock, told me to turn the wheel full lock. I told him it doesn't rub, he said he's just trying to keep everyone safe. I lol'd and told him "you do realize this is a volvo?". Drove off and popped a nice back fire on my 1-2 shift.
