Help regarding bathroom fan
 

I ripped out the old bathroom fan in my ensuite as it was junk and replaced it with a more powerful one.
Nothing needed to be modified as it was just plug and play to get it working.

Heres my question:
Is a vapor barrier needed?
The vapor barrier im talking about is ones that go around the top of the fan. Its box-shaped. Made of hard plastic. (Not talking about the vapor barrier on the drywall. I didnot have to cut that to install the new fan)

Was told that i needed one, so i duct tapped one on there, after cutting it to size/fit. But now theres condensation building up inside btwn the inside of the barrier and the top of the fan.
Theres no condensation/water on the hose thats connected to the fan running to the vent outside my house.

I can access the bathroom fan from my attic, if it helps.

IMO, if it worked fine before and there's no sign of mold in the attic and you have sufficient air circulation up there, take it off.

BTW duct tape isn't for ducts lol.
