Because people who are ACTIVELY HUNTING FOR A GIRLFRIEND are more often than not massively insecure and/or dependent and require outside validation.
They don't mean "Don't go for it if you meet a girl", they maen "Don't walk into every room looking at every (cute) girl you see thinking "she could be my girlfriend!".
You are a person. She is a person. It is possible that you could get along individually or as a couple' Don't jump the gun, get to know her, do your thing, be self-confident and self-assured. If she doesn't like you it's because you aren't what she's looking for, not because you're horribly flawed and have to change and need to devote your whole life to something.
