Technical Representative
Highland Foundry International Inc. (HFI) is a Canadian company dedicated to outsourcing high quality sand and investment cast ferrous metals and related services. HFI specializes in industrial castings and forgings with machining, painting, assembly and testing for large and small companies of both Original Equipment Manufacturers and the replacement market industry. Highland Foundrys Metallurgists and Foundry Engineers work closely with a tightly controlled group of foreign vendors to supply components for customers worldwide. Available in this dynamic, goal oriented environment is a Technical position within the Production Quality Assurance Department at the Surrey, BC location.
The ideal candidate will possess:
bachelor or technologists degree in Metallurgical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering ( or equivalent experience)
Skills
ability to read engineering drawings
proficient in oral and written technical communication
metallurgical knowledge of steel, iron and non-ferrous material characteristics
QA/QC principles
multitasking project management
basic knowledge of metal casting principles - chemistry, foundry practices, solidification characteristics, and heat treat methodology
problem solving and decision making
destructive and nondestructive testing methods and results interpretation
basic machining principles
solid chemistry, math and computer skills

Responsibilities
perform destructive and non-destructive QA testing, assess and report results
evaluate incoming request for quotes and send to appropriate subcontractors for pricing
with that pricing, decide on best supplier and quote customer
manage project from inquiry through delivery determining and overseeing QA and production requirements to ensure reliability of product and service
build business by successfully managing a multitude of projects
accurately communicate technical and commercial information with suppliers and customers
develop strong working relationship with domestic and international customers, suppliers and colleagues
This position reports directly to the General Manager.
