Just learned this morning that one of those who have passed away because of the heatwave is a friend's father.
My stubborn old man has been refusing to sleep in the basement in the last few evenings, and there is nothing any of us can do to make him.

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – Mounties in Burnaby are urging you to check on your loved ones during this heatwave, after dozens of sudden deaths that are believed to be linked to heat.
RCMP say in a 24-hour period since Monday, officers responded to more than 25 sudden deaths. Investigators believe heat was a contributing factor in the majority of the deaths.
Many of those who died were seniors.
“We are seeing this weather can be deadly for vulnerable members of our community, especially the elderly and those with underlying health issues. It is imperative we check on one another during this extreme heat,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj. |
