Not all elderly people are created equal. My mother and people in her circle never watched the news. They didn't because they grew up without technology. Their world was not like those who grew up with books, good education, and good role models. My mother-in-law, on the other hand was always watching the news. She read constantly. Her brothers are also well educated. One is a newspaper editor, while one is a principal. They were all learned people. The one brother who immigrated to Los Angeles, opened up a small business that grew into a liquor store. Before he retired wealthy, he owned a strip mall.
