slightly offtopic but do places tend to open up after the school year ends and a bunch of students finish school and end their rental? whenabouts does it happen is it does? I'm taking a bridging program at Camosun leading to UVic that starts end of June/early July and myself +3 others are looking for a place to rent, preferably a 4 bdrm house or 2x 2 bdrm places close to each other as we're all in the same thing.
also when people mention references does that only include previous landlords or can you use employers, etc as well? because for myself and one of the other guys this'll be our first place.

My current landlord asked for previous landlord references as well as personal refs (employer, coworker, parole officer, etc).
She actually called all of them, too. That was a first!

not to sure how i feel about this but the place we got the landlord never checked a single thing. No credit check, no reference check, no employment check.
We plan to stay there until the students are out in april and look to see what comes available.

Man you guys are lucky, my references were called up by every single prospective landlord when I was looking for places.
