IMHO, these high-end car manufacturers are feeling the financial pinch with the rest of the world. Therefore, they design a practical "sports car" to make up some shortfall in sales of their low-end models. Again, this is based upon my opinion only, no actual facts/content.
PS. I highly doubt that a cheaper insurance rate would have anything to do with a purchase of any of the above mentioned vehicles.
