how's your GTI compare to your Type-R? from a general perspective?

anyone who's driven a type r and a si would take the type r because its "a little" fast but the si is newer, more reliable, looks good, rides better and the k-series motors are build well.

type-r was more raw. obviously felt more special. radio? air con? sound deadening? who needs that??? i was more attached to that itr than i am with my gti now. but i was much younger (and dumber) back in the day when i had it so i'm seeing things in a different perspective now. burying the tach to stay within the vtec powerband and then watch the po-po lights come on in my rearview mirror had more of an appeal back then than it does now
if i were able today, i would buy a stock itr and a shop manual and learn as much as i could to "restore" it and keep it just for weekends.
there is so much tech stuff in the gti i'm left scratching my head no matter how much i try to read up about it (or i'm just dense/old).
but i can't deny turbos have their own special kind of rush too...

I wonder how the Civic Si would do if you stripped it down to the same "raw" level of the Type R...
I'm more impressed with cars that can be quick, and still retain all the creature comforts.
