Engine off on traffic light

I live in a very packed city with a lot of traffic, engine on/off saves me a lot of fuel compared with having it off all the time. I've heard many saying the fuel used in 10 seconds idle = 1 engine start, so if you are stuck in traffic, it is annoying, but should save quite a bit of fuel.

I always thought an engine start used as much gas as around 2 minutes of idling? obviously depends on the engine/pressure/temperature etc

thats what a voltage sensor at the battery is for. the system only operated at optimal settings. if the battery is weak, which it would be registered as weak if the vehicl required a jump start, the system would not operate even if it is turned and left on.

Maybe this is a silly question, but eventually in 5 - 7 years when the battery gets old and weaker, will the MB system recognize the weak battery?
Imagine getting a jump start and forgetting to turn off eco mode and pulling up to a red light and have the motor auto turn off.

the settings:

individual
sport+
sport
normal
economic

are more for the engine characteristics, shift points, suspension settings and dependent on the vehicle, even climate control. they were experimenting with these in the new C class with active drive. on most of the models, it only affects the engine performance, and shifting.

the eco start/stop runs on a different control unit. but that being said, i think the S class has it somewhat tied in together. i think it disables it in sport mode or sport+

So you can actually have your car in sport mode, and it will still shut off the engine when you come to a stop. Unbelievably retarded. If I have the car in sport mode, I don't want it turning off at red lights, I want it ready to pounce off that redlight when I hit it.
