Remember the good ole days where the Blazer k5 was a rock crawling beast that’s made to compete with the likes of the Ford Bronco? Well throw that all away just like how Mitsubishi has throw the Eclipse name plate, Chevy has done the same with the Blazer, just to a lesser extend. Welcome to the world of CUV.
Powering the new Blazer is two engine choices both mated to a 9-speed automatic. Either a 193-hp, 188-lb-ft 2.5-liter four cylinder or buyers can opt for the 3.6-liter V-6 with 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Front wheel drive is standard while a trick clutch pack driven all wheel drive as an option.
But is being an CUV such a bad thing? Well, they want to compete in the mid sized 2 row crossover market which really consists of the Ford Edge, Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Nissan Murano. Slotting in between the Equinox and the Traverse this Camaro-esque SUV is a looker. It has a bit of Kona look to it with it’s headlights mounted below the daytime running lights.
We’ll have to see what it’s like in person but it seems to be a well rounded SUV. Pricing has not been announced however it should sit nicely in between the Equinox and the Traverse.
