My Somet with chainstitch versus APC NS with regular stitch.

Yes, the chainstitch is supposedly weaker but mine has held up for over a year now.

I swear, I read that page multiple times.

My mind is faltering. Five classes was bad idea.

Hills has a pair of the 32oz N&F on display. Holy fuck is that thing stiff. It feels like heavy grade cardboard. And that branding patch above the back right pocket is like 3/4 of an inch thick!

They also have Nudies, Sevens, NF, and a bunch of other random jeans on sale too.

Haha I stack when wearing low tops and cuff when wearing high tops.

You're right though, its harder to get the puckering effect when you cuff.

Somet on the right. Take a look at how the cuff fades with a chain stitch compared to a lock stitch

dont you think it has more to do with how close the stitch is to the bottom of the opening than the actual stitch itself?
that and the actual texture of the denim?
i'd like to see the same pair of jeans stitched at the same part, one chain, one normal, and then i'd be convinced.

Depends what you're looking for. They had Nudies for ~$150, N&F for ~$95, that's all I remember.

It's in Kerrisdale, pretty much right when you enter, heading west on 41st.

Dayum, N&F for 95$ eh... I'm guessing for the normal indigos and stuff, no special ones?

From what I remember, it was only the Broken Twills on sale(from the winter collection, I'm guessing). I could be wrong though.

There were a LOT of Nudies on sale.. but mostly the pre washed ones I might still grab a pair regardless though.. good to have a couple pairs of jeans that don't feel like cardboard.

I remember reading on superfuture that the roping effect is created from various factors including chain stitching, leg twist, and shrinkage. So its possible to have roping without chain stitching, but when you combine them the roping is more intense. I tried to find the post but man I cannot find it for some reason.

Typical double locking chain stitching used on denim is actually just as strong as anything out there. If they weren't you wouldn't see them being used in high stress areas like the waist band, ass area, leg openings, etc...

More pics of roping

If you use a lock stitch the fading effect is similar to my APCs above... No roping.

I guess it doesn't really matter but small attention to detail like that is important when spending big bucks on raw denim.

I get my jeans hemmed by some Chinese lady for $6

But yeah, I could see how something like that is more of a purist/enthusiast thing. Don't get me wrong, I love my jeans, but I couldn't care less about the 1cm that barely drags on the ground.

Going to the shops listed on the previous page to check out some Momotaros tomorrow

Edit: Went to Chrome Yellow. The two ones that I tried on were 0100SP and JB0101. They fit so much more slimmer than I thought they would have. Pretty much like an N&F Skinny Guy but with more upper thigh/waist room. They also have a model that doesn't have selvedge, or hidden coin pocket selvedge--I think they're JB0703. I really like the 0100SP's but the thing that's keeping me away from them are the battle stripes.

Didn't buy some though, because I knew I still have more life in my Natural Indigo N&F denim. But damn, I missed dat crispy denim feel

Though if there is a retailer that actually sells Momotaro denims, then I'm jumping on dat.

Would anyone here recommend doing a hot soak on Naked & Famous Selvedge jeans? Obviously they're a bit stretched out now after 2 1/2 months of wearing them. Would this be a good idea to shrink them down a bit?
