What I've noticed going Surrey campus on tues and fri, the parking guys come at 11:30, 2:30, 5:30. I haven't gotten a ticket this sem despite being there for 4+,hrs/day

So far, I got the 5th highest mark on the midterm, the 2nd highest mark on the essay, and the 2nd highest presentation mark in the whole class with literally almost no effort.

Midterm average was 72% which is the lowest mark for a B. It consisted of 40 mc and 1 short essay. The essay average was surprisingly low, bit it's super easy. Basically you have to choose 2 countries (one developed, one developing) and compare the birth rate, death rate, growth rate, age dependency ratio, median age etc. If you take the class, I could give you some hints on what to mention.

Essay 2 is due in two weeks. It's about the pipeline. Basically we have to talk about what the pipeline project is and what its benefits/drawbacks are. Should be easy.

The presentation is easy to get a good grade in. I got 8.75 when in reality I should have gotten 9 or 9.5. My TA is super picky with grading compared to the other TA and it shows considering our tutorials have a lower average score for marks. But the TAs go back at the end of the term and compare all the presentations and bump any that were graded low earlier on in the term so maybe i'll get above 8.75 because my group had the best presentation by far, in our tutorial at least.

Overall I would recommend this class as a GPA booster. You're almost guaranteed a B without any effort. Lectures can be dull, but Faran tries to get you to participate so if you're engaged in his lectures, I guess time goes by a little faster.

IMO Arch 100 with Maxwell is a great GPA booster because it's not very time consuming at all. No assignments, no papers or presentations. It's just 3 non-cumulative MC tests (2 midterms and a final) all worth around 33%. The questions are very fair. It's like 95% of what's on the slides or what he says in class. You just need to study like 2-3 days before the tests and you should get an A. If you're good at memorizing stuff, take his class.

I think I'm gonna start going to the gym in the fall. Do you guys recommend getting a gym locker? I think I remember reading that people would complain about people stealing stuff from their lockers (laptops, wallets, phones). Could anyone please chime in on that?

Also, what are the showers like?

Thanks in advance.

The only thefts i've heard about are people getting their backpacks taken from the gym. Generally the locker room area is safe since there's always people there. In my opinion, a gym locker isn't really necessary unless you're really worried about the safety of your valuables. It is nice being able to put your protein/gym clothes in your locker though so you don't have to bring it with you every time. It's up to you and your needs.

I never use the showers, but they're as standard as it gets.

If you don't want to rent a job locker, you can always get a day locker (75cents i believe)

There's gonna be more stealing in the fall especially beginning of semester with lots of ppl. If you do cardio, just keep the bag by your side just so that it's not in the way of others. But in general, if you have valuables get a locker. It's worth the price to not have the risk of getting it stolen.

BUT there have been thiefs in lockers. I've had my locker (non-day lockers) broken into 3 times....

Or just rent a locker in the AQ (or WMC which is basically beside the gym) for $25 a semester and leave your valuables there. Much safer IMO, and the walk is barely 5 minutes.

Has anyone taken BPK 325 (Basic Human Anatomy)?

What can you say about the course? Lots of assignments, quizzes?

And any insight on HSCI 304 as well?

If it was AQ. WMC makes sense though.

I can give some insight on BPK 325 (I took BPK 326 and knew a TA that taught 325). HEAVY memorization. Very picky about details about locations/insertions/origin names. Here is the course outline of 325. Course Outlines - Simon Fraser University

If you do take 325, I suggest downloading an app called Atlas?. Will help with visualization of muscles, bones, etc.

I can ask my friend and see how the assignments and quizzes were.

Are students getting their grades back from their TA's or online classes on Canvas? I heard TSSU is on strike again and they are withholding grades again... I'm about to have a final in a week, and I still haven't had my 25% worth of essays and discussions grades... Just doesn't feel right not knowing where you stand going into a final?

Have you guys got all you grades back before going into your finals?

naw no grades gonna be given at all, however i was lucky enough that two of my midterm marks were given to us because both parties were "at an understanding", but then the strike sparked again so i dont think theres gonna be any marks given out

I got one of my essays back today and the comment read, "You got higher than your first essay." I got an A- on my first one so I have a 50% chance of guessing it right
