Picked up a pair of one.9's from Sportchek at Coquitlam centre. Such a good deal at 99.99 with an extra 10% off for Scene members.

How much are the EK15's?
I know a few high tier guys that are using them and love them.

I just tried an APX2 and the subtle differences between that stick and my Nexus 1000 is enough to make it feel weird.

If you want to try a mid-kick Sherwood, check out the T100/T120. I hear nothing but excellent things about them. They're not as light as the Rekker, but damn are they balanced. It also helps that you can normally find them for 30--50 dollars less than top tier brands.

with tech now, what type of shaft you are using and how you bring that power from body to shot is a huge study these days. just look at this chart...

red being stiffest part of the shaft, few years old, but you get the idea.

Never shot a Nexus but that flex profile looks wacky. I'm guessing that's a G3? What makes it so different from a low kick stick aside from the apparent "whippiness" based on the colours.

Which helmet is he trying on?
Where is it that is too tight?
Has he tried on other helmets?

Helmets will vary in shape and size depending on the brand and model. Certain helmets are better suited for oval vs round shaped heads.

Like SumAznGuy mentioned, it would help to know what your friend has already tried on and where the pressure points are.

I think its the fact that the middle portion is less stiff compared to the vapor line. couldn't really tell you, but i got a much better shot now than when I did with the vapor..could be that I improved?

both my vapor sticks and the nexus i have are all 77flex cut 1.5in

Thanks for the replies. He was just testing sizes. He is looking for a red helmet and he grabbed whatever was there at Sportchek.. I think it was around $68-70 but I can't find it on their site.

It was an XL and it was very tight on him he said. Is there any specific brand or model that he should try?

Interesting.
I loved my Nexus 1000. It was very easy to shoot but when I switched to my Vapor APX2, same flex same length, the APX2 felt a lot stiffer.

Not sure about the new nexus sticks, but the 1000's shaft is concave on all 4 sides while the APX2 is concave on 2 and convex on the other 2 which makes it feel a little girthy. Unfortunately I have small hands.

Unfortunately, that doesn't mean anything to any of us.
I'd be worried for him if he went to get a big helmet so that the sides would fit but then it is too big front to back.
Best bet is for him to go to a bigger SC or Cyclone and get someone to let him test fit all brands and see what fits best and then go from there.

Don't worry about price or colour yet.

Find what fits best first. Safety first.

At that price it sounds like it might've been the Bauer 4500; which is one of the more oval-shaped helmets.

If the helmet was tight on the sides, try something more round like the Bauer 9900 or CCM Fitlite series/Reebok 7K. The original Bauer Re-Akt might be an option as well (not the newer Re-Akt 100).

All of these helmets I mentioned will be $120-200 but I recommend going with what fits best. I assume this helmet will be used for hockey and not just public skating?
