in the summer time I drove across the border and I couldnt pick up their reception. Im with Rogers, anyone know why this is? Before I had the ip4 my 3 ip3 would pick up their reception. Would it have anything to do with the fact that my simcard is cut?

Can anyone confirm the iPhone 4s can be unlocked at crystal mall and once unlocked you loose ability to do updates? And if you are able to update you loose the unlock? Posted via RS Mobile | |

TIA | I had that problem with my local rogers IP4, took forever to locate and switch over to an american provider, even after multiple airplane mode cycles. Also it took a while before it switched back to rogers after coming back.
My dad had no problem with his HK bought IP4, and he's using fido.

The lock button on my phone is stuck, I have to push it in real hard for it to work. Will Apple give me a new one (still under warranty) if I bring it in or will they give me a used one? Posted via RS Mobile | |

When at the Genius Bar, if your iPhone replacement comes in anything other than the regular retail box then it is a refurb.
9/10 your replacement with be a refurb, there's nothing wrong with them. Apple has high refurb quality benchmarks, all cases and glass are replaced, also your warranty is transferred to the new serial number. The only bad thing about getting a refurb is the uncertainty, not knowing the history of the item. Truth be told getting a brand new replacement could even be a lemon, not just refurbs. Big problem:
Ip4 recently updated to ios 5.01 (newest version). Phone has been none functional for calls, texting, pretty much no signal and it always stuck at dialer page , unable to receive or hang up calls, or even hear any sounds.
Text message also stops while sending.
I called Rogers and Apple and they ask me to factory reset using itunes. So i did and after that, problem came back 2 weeks later.
Apple or rogers wont do anything since my phone is out of warranty.
Is there anyone else having this issue, how do you fix it? I read on apple forum where people replace ip4 3 times and still has same issue. This is clearly caused by the fucking OS5.
Apple genius bar nerd even has the guts to tell me they havent heard of such thing, and wants to charge me $200 for fixing/diagnosing....
Now I have a phone that i need to factory reset every 2 weeks.....
Good job apple. Nice marketing strategy to make people want to upgrade to 4S.

Never heard of the exact problem you are having. I have a 3GS, 4 and 4S in my possession and iOS 5 works great on all.
Try restoring again, this time download the latest iOS 5.0.1, there was an update to the one for 4S due to a "no SIM found" issue. Not the same issue you are having but close, but afaik the fix was only made for 4S. Fix “No SIM Card Installed” Error on iPhone 4S by Installing iOS 5.0.1 Build 9A406 | |

is there any way to find out what's causing my fucking battery drain?
Phone was totally fine until it started a week ago seemingly overnight, think it may have been an update for one of my apps I downloaded from Cydia perhaps...
And the drain is REALLY bad... last night phone was fully charged 100% when I went to bed locked overnight obviously, and I woke up this morning it was at 76%.... it's been like this for over a week now, fucking pissing me off
I have the System app info that tells me exactly all the processes that are running on the phone, looked into that but I can't really tell what's what
One thing I noticed about this phone that my 3GS didn't have, is that any games and sometimes apps that I open, but especially games... the phone does not shut them down, I have the RemoveBG app I have to use every time after I finish games...
For example I could play a bunch of games right now, lock the phone overnight wake up in the morning see I have very low memory left, like 40mb, and check whats running, and it would still be the same games I played last night....
why does this happen as well ??

Double press the function button, Then press and hold down an app icon, then - off the app. I do this all the time to clear the apps from running in the background.
