My favourite fried chicken is the yangnyeom style chicken at Honey's on North Road. They have their good day and bad days, but on a good day it's amazing!

This is somewhat true. I've heard first-hand stories of Koreans going to Costco and eating the hot dog CONDIMENTS as a meal as 'ghetto kimchi'

On second thought, I guess it is pretty creative to make a meal out of hot dog condiments.

I dunno man.....I like kimchi fried rice more than Chinese fried rice. Has more flavor, better texture, looks more presentable

Finally went to Chicken World on 49th and Knight (it's at the south east corner).

Spoiler!

Got the 10pcs for $13.99.

Chicken itself was pretty good. It was crispy, juicy and you couldn't really taste the oil.

This is definitely different than the ones you get from church's/kfc. I'm not sure how to describe it.

it isn't the best that I've ever had but it is certainly good. They deep fry it on order so you know it's always fresh.

Also ordered to zucchini sticks for 2 dollars (with taxes). I'm a sucker for these and they taste the same they do anywhere (reminded me of church's when they still had them).

I would give it a solid 8/10.

Found the Max's Chicken location on a drive home from East Van today. It's just past the intersection of Kingsway and Tyne. From the looks of it, they'll be opening in the next few weeks.

So is it better than Church's?

Just took a look at the website and it looks like chinese-style fried chicken (Ja Ji Gai), which isn't as good as southern-style fried chicken.

It's tough to say.

Their pieces are bigger than church's but they need more seasoning/better seasoning.

The oil they use is much better than church's though as you don't feel like death after eating it.

In some areas, they are better but in some they are worse. I wish they offered a spicy option though.

Been wanting to try them for a while now. Maybe I'll add a little tabasco or Frank's red hot sauce to the chicken for some kick

I just had a fresh one. Had to wait 8 minutes for the thigh. Fresh spicy thigh sandwich is mindblowing.

Went to try L.A Chicken today.

Ordered a 2pc combo, which included thigh + breast, fries, gravy and a drink. Total was $8, which I found a bit expensive. Had the choice of crispy or original, and picked one each. The original was better IMO, had more of the "chicken" taste. The crispy was a bit spicy and it was quite bland. The fries were bland as well, but the gravy was good !

Food - 5/10
Price - 5/10
Service - 8.5/10

I'm sure it would, but IMO, it was still a bit high for me.

Went to Chicken World today. It was made fresh and it was HOT. Taste was better then L.A Chicken, and I would easily put it above them. But, compared to Churches it's still below in the taste category. Price was fair, $8 for 5pc and I found the chicken to be larger then those of L.A chicken. Plus, the lady was very nice and friendly.

IMO, Churches > CW > L.A, dunno about KFC, as I haven't had it in awhile.

^Interesting, I found that L.A. was much better than CW by far...

In regards to the chicken shoot out, you can read my friend's review here:

Went to Chicken World today to see what's it about after seeing CRS's and other peoples posts.

Chicken was fried fresh, waited around 10 minutes or so.

It is juicy, no doubt about that. There is something different from KFC/Churches...it was a bit bland. Maybe it was just one of those bad days?

For now, i think Churches > Chicken World.

Has anyone ever tried the bucket of buttermilk fried chicken at St. Augustine's? The best fried chicken I have ever had though it is more expensive than the other places listed here.

Just had this and didn't find it that great. $16 is an ok price considering it's a sit-down place and you get the following:

2 wings + 2 drumsticks - both the batter and meat are kind of bland
onion rings - batter too thick, hard, and salty for my taste
gravy - bit salty
coleslaw - OK, nothing special
