What I like to do is everyday before I sleep I'm in my bed with my eyes closed I think about everything that has happened that day. It's my time to self-reflect on that day. Whether I could have done things differently, or use that time to prepare yourself in the future. I like it because it gives you time to know who you are and of course it makes sleeping easier (for me that is)

Usually if there's something plaguing your mind to the point that it's causing you problems, it's something you need to address or deal with but have been avoiding. So the best way thing to do is generally form a plan to do so and do it.

That said when there's stress I can't control in my life I use yoga and meditation heavily. Also a hot bath, a good book and a glass of wine.

When I'm stressed out and have alot to think about, I blast some hardstyle and start working out, as it always serves as a reminder that I am still the beast and noone can stop me. If that doesn't work, I just go to bed, and tell myself, "what will happen will happen, if it is not something I can control, there is no point stressing myself over it. What's done is done. At the end of the day, as with the end of our life, everything will be over".

Exactly. Remember, working out is a stress reliever; it releases a stress-relieiving hormone or w/e, so you get double bonus : fit and unstressed :)
Also, if there is nothing you can do about your situation, remember that there is nothing you can do about it, and just live with it. If you've made a mistake, stop thinking what could have happened, etc, and just move on and learn from the mistake. Eventually you will get through it all and be proud of yourself for not quitting or doing something stupid.

When i'm really stressed out or feeling down, I like to run. If you push your self hard enough the only thing your able to concentrate on is the next turn/ hill. I end up feeling pretty euphoric after a good long run.

Also learning to let the little things go helped me too.

1. Watch a totally ridiculous movie to stop you brain from thinking about anything else. Think Dumb and Dumber...or something long like Lord of the Rings

2. Go for a run/hike

3. Read a book

4. Get drunk

when all else fails....watch a shit pile of porn and rub one out.

What I usually do..

Think about the problem and see what is wrong with it? what is bothering me? how can I fix it? Ask yourself are you setting the bar too high that you're not happy with?

You would have to face these problems and think about it later on. You shouldn't turn to other things just to get away from it.

Or maybe sometimes all you need is just a break from all the daily thing you do. A vacation helps once in a while.

Take a shower and do the deep thinking and decision making there.

It literally washes away your thoughts :troll:

Before, I would take a walk around the block and smoke a cigarette or a joint to help clear my head. But since I'm a singer, it started affecting my voice, so I had to find an alternative.
A glass of wine and a movie usually puts me to sleep now.
As juvenile as it sounds, porn/sex also works.
Or just stream some Friends episodes or something until you're tired. Even if you end up sleeping at 3am and have to wake up at 6am. When you're up, you're up. And you'll have other shit to deal with that'll keep things off your mind.

I also had to learn to force myself to not think too much about things that are out of my control. What's done is done. Focus more on what you can control versus what you can't. Feel free to PM me, as I've recently overcome depression, and still battling a quarter-life crisis.

Mr.HappySilp 08-30-2011 09:30 PM

Well before I go to bed I like to listen to music it actually helps to make me fall asleep faster. I tend watch a lot of movies I don't normally watch just to get my mind off what I am thinking for a bit.

I am in the exact opposite of what you are experiencing now. I have way too much free time especially at night. I been trying to keep myself busy it doesn't always work.

instantneedles 08-30-2011 09:44 PM

oh yeah....i forgot.

lock yourself up in a room, lie on your bed, one hand with a glass of wine, the other hand with a nice joint. Butterfly massage works well too.

When I have a number of stressfull things on my mind, I generally like to get some fresh air like some of the people above mentioned.. EXCEPT.. I usually go for a long drive generally highway and just cruise with the windows down and let the wind hit you.. the sound of my car (exhaust, BOV etc) changes my mind from the stresses of the real world. If you want a buddy to cruise late at night with, give me a shout.. Hope that helps.
